One of the biggest mistakes would be not to mingle with the locals.. Lot of tourists just stick together in groups and don't interact with the locals or immerse themselves in the culture. I realize safety is a major concern in india, but the best part about visiting a new country is meeting new people and understanding the culture.
One major reason why foreigners fall sick after eating Street Food is because they eat each and every thing they see on a single day.Even we Indians don't do that. Try to take care about this fact.
