Please promote local people not the business. Not everyone like this. If we visit any foreign country they also do this. But it's not an issue. Our cost is small penny for them. 1$= around 90rs.
That's right! We should ensure that, our guests feel safe in our beloved country. Let's give them a wonderful experience. May be our streets are not that clean. But our hearts are just like gem. Let's make them feel loved.
pro tip: if anyone wants to travel India, please learn some hindi, for example: when someone costs more money just say "loot kyu rahe ho bhaiya?" they will assume that u are no new to this place, and will finally charge normally.
Only if you go to North India, a lot of tourists never go to North India and instead to South where people barely know any Hindi and instead speak English.
@@ziasyeda6645 Probably....but most of India speaks English especially in cities, so they can use English anywhere, that's the whole thing about English it's the global lingua Franca, a Chinese and French could talk to each other without one of them knowing the other's language by English.

I am Indian too.. however ,I look at it slightly differently… we are ready to pay thousands to hotels, restaurants or other organised places who will calculate costs ,add overheads etc and then you have to give a respectful tip on top… these guys often work long hours, often sole breadwinners and have to pay for the hire of the vehicle if they do not own it…if you were feeling the sun… can you have a vision of someone who is pulling you along in that sun? I often pretend to bargain and the after an agreed price I usually add a generous amount on top… the look on the face of the person is usually my biggest reward of the day.. I feel if we are so blessed we need to share some of the joy … please do not think I am sermonising .. I used to be different previously.. when I saw their lives more closely,my attitude changed

I as a traveller dont pay too high prices but you sometimes have to pay something that I call "idiot-bonus". 10 or 15% more as the local people have to pay. You HAVE to catch this particular train, you NEED a bed to get some sleep. So , OK , 80 Rs for the ride instead of 70. 650 Rs for the room instead of 600. Let the people "win" a little. Sometimes NOT always. They have to feed their families and that is hard enough! Love for India, from Germany.

I agree. India is relatively safe for foreign people who wants to visit and live there. Sri Lanka is also safe for foreign people to visit or live there as well.
I think you have understood India. You are really a genuine traveller, who enjoy the process of journey rather than destination. I can sense calmness, patience, appreciation of local culture, people, etc. in your narrative.
Part 3: crowds: Thats how I felt when I visited Disneyland in Orlando, FL! My expectations with Disneyland were like what people anticipate with a Taj Mahal and a single individual person, and in reality it was completely opposite!! It was right before Christmas!😃
You nailed it as far as patience being the key. I love India. I think the air pollution is also a big one to consider...even for those with healthy lungs. Also a few mores items to be mindful of if you're a solo female traveling. But, If you can find it, I agree finding the peace within yourself is the key to enjoying this magnificent country and its people! 💜
Being an Indian, i would not recommend solo trips in India specially for women. 75% of people are really good but there are 25% creepy population who do everything to make other people life hell. If you are traveling solo , don’t go to northern part the country…..

This is very well articulated Dan! I am glad you put things into perspective for travelers. While I have lived and continue to live most of my life in India, whatever you have experienced is fairly common in most cities/towns. Obviously Ola/Uber have now made a difference for you to not have the experience that you had with the cycle rickshaw ride, but you still learnt something in a much harder way. Don't overplan, have patience and it can make the ride worth it. And believe me, the traffic is what drives tourists crazy. Even as an Indian citizen, I have not yet been able to fathom how do we actually drive in this amount of traffic - it just happens like it's a miracle! Loved the vlog! Highly recommended!
Thanks Dan, It is always good to watch your video. The best thing is the way you look at things and experience. There is learning from a great epic 'Mahabharata' - You see things as you want to see. If you want to see bad ...you will see and experience bad only...if you want to see good you will experience and see good only choice is yours. Wish you best for your travel channel.
I just now watched this video and am so glad that you could understand what does India actually mean...Not everyone could get this lesson behind it...Only a few ,,...who could think beyond what they actually see ...🇮🇳☺️🙏
I absolutely enjoyed you way of explaining all this. Actually, I'm going to use it at my English lessons for my students' listening practice, if you don't mind. I 100% agree with you about the way things work in India, though I experienced the same in Thailand and Malaysia, I think, it's all similar in Asian countries, which teach us patience and trust to the world.
Today's video was really good advice! Probably good advice just for life in general. Too often our disappointments come from mistaken expectations. Stay calm. Enjoy the journey. Don't try to do too much in one day! Great advice. 😉

I'm an Indian, it's not pretty hard if you plan it well. instead of tuk tuk, you should have booked ola or uber (prepaid taxi) and book your tickets before travelling in advance. As an Indian i avoid train and opt always for private A/C or non A/C buses. for avoid power cuts, opt for hotels which is mid ranged, they have backup options. Indian roads are messy cant do anything about it so plan it little more advance than it shows up on google maps.
Thanks for the more balanced feedback. I always find it weird when people visit the worst places in India (slums, polluted looking areas, known crime or scam-ridden areas) at sketchy times without seeking any advice from the locals and then post a video complaining about how it is so dangerous, stinky, and how they regret visiting. India has those places, but you can also curate your visit/stay by doing research or seeking out advice from people there to have a much better experience, as you wisely did. There's no sense for going into the worst looking and smelling places and then complaining about how the entire country has nothing to offer until the government invests years and billions of rupees/dollars in cleaning up. It's also up to the tourist to some degree. I would say more than they realize.
I am from varanasi and i agree that auto drivers and rikshawala fools foreign tourist .. 100Rs. Is still a big amount .. it's only 35 from where you traveled
`@Neel Shukla You are completely right! That guy has cycled him for about 20 minutes in that heat! I`m working as a rickshaw rider in London for 4 years, so I have much respect for that rider. Here I never need to deal with such heat, and we also have e-assist to help us. That guy works extremely hard for his money. Okay, it`s pointless to compare his fare to that I would charge for the same distance (my living costs are way higher here too), but I would feel really ashamed myself if I would not have tipped the rider at least £10 for that long trip. Not because I would be rich (I`m clearly not), but you are right: tourists from the west spend £5 on a coffee at the airport before departure, so we really shouldn`t worry about at least the same £5 for the service of such a hard-working local guy. And yes, that money will stay and be spent in India and support the local economy. After all the exploitation that Brits and the west done in India, that`s the minimum to give back, I think... I`m planning to visit Delhi soon, I think my local colleagues, rickshaw riders will like me. :D
I had actually watched your video on Canada months ago when I was about to go to Winnipeg for a summer internship, and here I am now, watching your video on India :D Great channel!

I feel very happy when I saw you're reading a book while traveling.Yes ,I never saw a single foreigner or local traveller reading a book while traveling . They think books are really time consuming thing to do and they Fully relly on Google for any kind of information.Let me tell you ,I am an Indian and I travel all over India since I was only 3 yrs.My father always use to read about the destination 6 months prior before visiting that place and I too got my interest from him.We travelled from Kashmir to Andaman from Rajasthan to Darjeeling without a single help from neither guide nor Google.
Best place to travel right now is badrinath and kedarnath. Not many foreginers...do the 16km trek to Kedarnath. No Simla will come close. Simla is a city with lots of traffic and pollution. Badri and Kedar is pollution free and you got 22000 feet mountain within 2 kms of the temple!!!!!
I really like the wisdom and knowledge you share, not only about travelling in India, but also the philosophical/spiritual aspects of your experience there :)
the weird thing is for me, I've lived in India for 13 years of my life and yet I didn't really experience what you have experienced unless I'm also traveling inside India,,, it's kind of amusing to think about XD
Even as a Indian I prefer Uber or Ola if we've to reach somewhere on time... One more important tip.. lookout for students looking peoples on bike... u know 19-26 yo with a backpack on a motorcycle, if you get stuck in traffic... They will certainly help you out.. Indian bikers always know how to deal with traffic, and you will be amazed by this.👍👍

Thanks for sharing your experience, Dan. You are so cool! Hi from Cancun, Mexico. Great job, my friend.
Your insightful wisdom, and ability to express it so nicely, continues to impress me. You are a blessing to me.
What a beautiful summarization of the travel experiences in India from a young but immensely wise person.
I am from varanasi and i agree that auto drivers and rikshawala fools foreign tourist .. 100Rs. Is still a big amount .. it's only 35 from where you traveled
@Neel Shukla Rs. 400 a dozen of banana .. almost double rate of room and cab for the foreigners .. they really take all profits from foreigners
