The standard PNY Verto is not the same as the PNY Verto Epic-X. I haven't seen any reviews of it, but it has a smaller 3-slot cooler so presumably it has worse cooling performance? PNY doesn't show proper pictures of its heatpipes/heatsink on their website, unlike the Epic-X so I can only assume it's inferior and they're hiding it on purpose.
It will have to be MOVED DOWN to B tier cooling and C tier overall.
What the heck. The website is confusing and it doesn't show up as a different card if you just use google search. Didn't help that reviewers were calling the Verto Epic-X as just the Verto OC. I made a mistake.
Judging by the cooler difference. It is definitely slightly smaller than the Epic-X version in terms of thickness only, the PCB seems to be the same however.
@@OTechnology yeah btw it's the same deal with the 4090 and 4070 Ti versions.
I'm pretty annoyed that companies do this. A year or so ago I made a mistake and bought Gigabyte 3060 Ti Gaming OC after seeing a review for the Gaming OC Pro which has both a better cooler and PCB.
It was actually your video on 3060 Ti that made me realise my mistake, so thanks.
@@Rachit0904 Yea man they definitely are doing it on purpose. At least on the PNY this time it doesn't seem like there's other crippling downgrades beside the thinner cooler.
I remember that 3060 Ti Gaming OC and Gaming OC Pro lol so annoying they only differentiate with a Pro.
@@OTechnology please do 4070ti I think 4070ti is best in current line up
@@OTechnology I have the XLR8 Verto Edition, playing at 3440x1440 and i didnt see the card going over 60º yet!
Im using inside of a Corsair Air 740 (which i had to remove a front fan so could fit it) and on a room temp of 27º-29º(summer here in Brazil,so really hot) sometimes at night with AC on (so, 24º).
Also, worth mention, that im using a 5800x3d cooled by Scythe Fuma 2 (first version) and that CPU generates a lot of heat!
Yes, this is a re-upload because I made a mistake on the Palit GamingPro and Gainward Phoenix VRMs. They are weaker than the 14-phase base reference VRMs with only 12-phases in their own custom PCB. Not really a big deal because it's still an overall C tier card in the first place but I thought it's important for everyone to get accurate information.
You corrected a mistake and that's a good thing.
It takes a wise man to acknowledge his mistakes.
You are a professional and i can't wait for 4070ti tier list!
Wish you all the best.
But not the Gainward Phantom and the Phantom GS which, from what I see, are pretty decent. The only difference between them being their bios power limits and clocks, right?
@@AIXMK1Are you happy with the results?

Awesome video and incredibly helpful buying advice! Appreciate the hard work that went into gathering all that info and presenting it in such an accessible way. Great job
I appreciate the work and time you invest in these videos. Cant wait for the 4070 Ti comparison. Thank you
Yes, please 4070 Ti comparison. I have already subscribed!! Great work!!
Thank you so much for this video! I was searching for this for so long!
Glad I could help!
I just watched your rtx 4090 video, same high quality video this time, very informative. Excellent job!
Awesome, thank you!
Thanks a lot for your video. Could you tell me if the 4070ti aero is worth buying in the next 4070ti reviews?
It would be awesome, if you'd make similar video for Radeon 7900 XT or XTX cards. Thx for the SS tier content :)
Subbed! Amazing vids, thanks :)
Maybe you could do a video for building pcs rated in tiers. Like the 5 best 4080 builds while being mindful of bang for the bucks.
You'd know what motherboards and so on :)
Oh thanks for considering my comment! Anyone else would have just changed the description, you re-uploaded the video. 👏
Thanks for letting me know of the mistake. I had to fix it! haha
Incredibly helpful! Thank you so much! Can you make a 7900XTX version too?
Awesome, thx to your video i chose for a KFA2/Galax RTX4080 SG. Loving it so far, running 3000 mhz. 300-350 watts and still max 55°C with fans on 50%.
This is great, thank you! I hope you can release a similar video on the Super and Ti Super editions that are out, hopefully before I buy one in 2 weeks? ❤
I like your buyers guide videos. I hope you come out with a 4070 ti video soon.
Yea sorry its a little delayed. There’s some last second information I’m getting.
Fantastic video. Some great information there. I am in the process of buying a 4080 and was torn between the Palit GameRock or the Founder's Edition for pricing. The FE looks to be the best for me as it isn't much bigger than the Palit RTX 3080 GamingPro I currently own. The FE is also the cheapest 4080 and had the nicest design, though without full RGB lighting.
Between the non oc version of Eagle and Nvidia founders edition, which one would you recommend and why? Thank you for your analysis.
Thanks for the hard work!
This was amazing, thank you for convincing me to get one the SS tier cards as I now understand the differences.
Thanks, made me reconsider the TUF for the SUPRIM
Hey man glad to see you’re still uploading. Your vid’s are the go to for comparing cards. Pls make a 7900 XT video of you can please
Thanks. I will after the 4070Ti video which is getting a little delayed already…
@@OTechnology I actually changed my mind about the 7900xt, thinking i should just get 7900 xtx while im at it lol. Thers not much variety for it though so ill probably just get the reference model. Thanks for replying though
I always check your videos before upgrading GPU. Best comparisons ever. Have any of you been able to try the Manli Gallardo? It would be perfect for my thermaltake P5 Green😂
im also searching for that. I have two 4080 super options: Inno3d ICHILL X3 and a Manli gallardo. Both with a max clock of 2550mhz. I was about to get the Inno3d, but its a 2 slots card, so it can heat more teorically. Since the manli uses 3 case slots, it has teorically more heat distribution.
very informative. Thank you for the work!
@ 8:50 the the PNY Verto OC is written to perform this good at only 26 dB is that a typo (so 36 is meant which sounds plausible) or is it rly that ridiculously silent.
BTW Keep up the great work i love this Channel for this amazing Card Comparisons, thx for providing it for this Gen again.
Its not a typo. It is that silent. I just take the performance bios readings for other cards that has dual bios. For example the Asus Strix on quiet bios can actually do 30db but slightly warmer temps because of higher clocks and power. The MSI Suprim on quiet bios can do 26db at similar temps with higher clocks.
@@OTechnology Well then its rly impressive i must say this temps at 26 dB nice for this type of card, thx for the insight with the other cards noise factors and temps
Thanks alot for your video. Very informative. Havent decide whether to get 4080 or 4070 ti. Will wait for your 4070TI video before decides.

Hey, thanks for your great content ! What do you think about the msi gaming x slim ? Especially in the 4080 super series. Is it a good card to buy ?
Hey bro could u do this same type of video but with Amd GPUs? Or at least with the 7900XTX? Greetings.
Great job! Any predictions on when the 4070 Ti ranking will be released?
Hopefully this weekend
@OTechnology hope nothing bad happened and you will be able to show your top notch work in the next video!
like, waiting for your 4070 ti buying guide👍
Thanks for the ranking. Where would you place the Gigabyte 4080 Windforce? Same as the Eagle?
And what about the Inno3D GeForce RTX 4080 16GB X3 and its OC version? Both C tier?
Good thing about the MSI Gaming 4080s when you add the 15% extra power limit +100 voltage the temp never makes it to 60 degrees, so they stay between 2940-3015mhz. My friend got the Suprim X (like I had with my 3080 12gb) but when he goes to +25% power limit it makes it hotter, even with the best cooler. It doesn't actually get any quicker. both stays between 2910-3015mhz .. so unless water cool to keep always below 40 degrees if you can get 370w compared to 400w card, its more about the cooler otherwise a 400w card will be a lower class card anyway.. after 5-10mins of gaming at high load
SO teh gaming x trio doesnt get much hotter w 15% power?
Nice video, I got a Gigabyte RTX 4080 Aero OC for a good price so nice to see my card is high tier 😎
I did not even know this when I bough it, I just wanted white graphic card for my white build 🤙
Good choice!
Thank You! Please add ProArt gpu's to your next tests.
Thanks for the video. I just bought the RTX 4080 Gigabyte Gaming OC and I'm very satisfied with my purchase, it's so massive that I have to change my Nr200p case because it does not fit.
How Do the ASUS ProArt Cards stack up compared to rog and tuf?
Also... is kfa2 reliable?? Cheers
Hi, any idea if/when you could compare the 4080 ti models? (yes, I know they're not out for 3 weeks yet :D )
I got hella lucky, my coworker sold me his almost-new strix oc 4080 for 1k yesterday, only annoying thing is it won't fit in my case without a waterblock. I have an alphacool eisblock coming in the mail later today, but I still wanted to benchmark it a bit with the stock cooler to compare temps
Very helpful content
Glad you think so!
Will there be such a video about the RX 7900 XTX? I can't decide between Sapphire Nitro+, ASRock Taichi, PowerColor Red Devil. According to the tests, Sapphire and Taichi are almost identical
I will do it once I finish with the 4070 Ti. There is unfortunately much more interest in the Nvidia cards than AMD.
Just got the MSI X Trio, was between that and the Gigabyte Gaming OC, because it had an extra support bracket included in the box, now I find this guide showing that it is a lil bit worse 😅.
I am going to build a very overkill cooking system so I'm not very concerned but yeah, thanks for the info =)
is the msi x trio bad?
@@patrickzelenoy3872 Had if for a month now, diferences are minimal, just go with the cheapest one you have available.

Thanks for the video, very informative!
I got a Zotac Trinity OC and am pretty disappointed because of the noise..
Thanks to your video I‘m now considering either the Gigabyte Gaming OC or the Gainward Phantom GS.
Tough decision because you ranked the Gaming OC into S Tier while the Gainward Phantom GS is in A Tier, although it seems to be quite a little quieter (36 vs 32 dba). Don’t know which to choose honestly haha.
What would your recommendation be? Is the noise difference that noticeable? And are there any huge arguments why I should get the gaming OC instead?
Thank you so much for helping me with my buying decision (:
The better cooler on the Gaming OC can always be slowed down manually in fan speed and it'll have better temps and lower noise than the Gainward GS. Although I personally got the 4090 Palit Gamerock which uses the same fan as the 4080 Gainward and its already so quiet.
Be careful and ask questions at your computer store. In Canada, I asked about the reliability of the different cards and the Gigabyte Gaming OC and Eagle were the number one returns.
@@johnwicks4936 just got the gaming oc and I’m super pleased with it!
I can finally adjust the fans to a pleasing noise level (the Zotac fans were always running on at least 1100-1200 rpm), now I managed to make a curve with which the fans normally spin at 700 rpm and can go up if temps are high, although even these low fan speeds keep the card pretty cool already!
On top of that 4 years of guarantee with the online registration! Definitely going to send my zotac card back and keeping the gigabyte!
i got this same card and my pc is pretty quiet. i do have 3 200mm fans though..i only hear the gpu fan when i run a stress test..
So basically the performance numbers and temps should be similar between the models? I'm looking to buy 4080 to play VR games on wireless headset so I will be maxing the card usage hard. However I want to get the cheapest model out there. Can lower spec VRM cause consistency issues in frames? Like frame drops or something? Or is the spec on paper enough to guarantee steady performance?
Great video! Thank you!
Can you make the same vidéo with the rtx 4070 ti please ? :) very nice job !
it’s crazy how the tuf 4080 vs tuf 4090 skips so many tiers! Glad i got the 4090
Bought myself 4080 just a week ago. I chose MSI SUPRIM X instead of Palit Gaming Pro and now I see that it was a right decision! Thanks for your vid❤️
A much better card for sure!
I got that too, and I tested next gen update Witcher 3 with the highest possible settings, ray tracing included, hair works maxed, and the fan speed locked at 50%. Running around Novigrad for 5 minutes, the temps stayed below 65c and I have an average room temp. GPU was super quiet at 50% fan speed.
same here, love my suprim x!
@@OTechnology but is it worth the extra $€ ? i can buy a Palit GamingPro now for 1189€ or a MSI SUPRIM X for 1415€
I got Aorus Master 4080 yesterday, based on your 4090 video. I am glad Aorus Master is still up there in tier 1 in this video. Thanks for all the info.
Is it a noisier card ? a friend of mine got a 2080 aorus master and is pretty noisier and an oven too.
@@c4nchi Not really. My card has been working great... no complaints so far.
@@GulshanDhingra Have you had any issues with RGB/screen? I wanted to purchase this card, but seems to be common issues with RGB.. supposedly the software is horrible.
@@cpt_Ruckus Yes, RGB fusion still doesn't detect my card and I haven't been able to customize the screen or led colors till date. I've tried a lot of workarounds except re-installing windows.
@@GulshanDhingra That sucks man, sorry to hear that. I know its only cosmetics, but for the price they ask for these cards everything should be tested and working flawlessly..
If you had to choose between the MSI RTX 4080 Gaming X Trio and the MSI RTX 4080 Ventus 3X OC, with the first one being $80 more expensive, is it still worth going with the gaming x trio? Thanks for the video!
I personally would pay the $80 because I'd like a quieter card and a better PCB. But that's up to you. Do you value that or do you just want a 4080? Because the Ventus will perform like any 4080.
Good afternoon. Choosing which version of 4070ti to buy? Gigabyte Gaming OC or Colorful Advanced OC-V? Before that, I used 3060 and 3080 Colorful Advanced. But I haven't seen anything in the 4070ti and don't know about the Colorful component base. What cooling system is used in Advanced? On the other hand, they say that Gigabyte is the coldest, but at the same time they are the noisiest on the market (
Advise what to buy?
Does the tier list rating etc.. Affect the performance ( a lot ) like a 5fps boost or a 30 fps boost ?
Fun thing is i bought the RTX4080 INNO3D IChill Black (watercooled), and was like : hey the temps are so low, why it doesn't allow to go up in power .. I luckily found out the Galax OC bios is matching my Bios Board ID. I flashed the bios into my card and now i can change all parameters on wish. I now have a watercooled 420W RTX 4080 and the hotspot is 84° max, i'm very happy even though in most cases the card will never reach 400W due to voltage limit. I could go as high as 3100Mhz on coreclock but it's unstable, with the curve OC i'm stable around 3045/3060 in all games, Cinebench, 3Dmark. Very great review !
I don't know what the ambient temperatures were when you measured the thermals. My suprimx barely goes over 56.
I love my Zotac Trinity. Card barely reaches 60’degrees in my house and that’s with a 360 AIO rad blocking the intake fans.
I have the Auros Master and it ramps up fairly quickly when it goes above 60-65c. It sounds like a jet then goes back down. I adjust the fan curve though so that would stop. Kind of distracting 😂
Can't wait for 4070 ti video 😊
Hello man how can we get info about the power limits of the 4080 super? Mainly the KFA2 ones?
Thanks to your video.
I'm now considering the Gigabyte Gaming OC,Colorful Advanced OC or the Zotac Oracle OC (China Special Edition; Its VRM current is the same as Amp ;and it also has VaporChamber)
As shown in your table, the noise performance of Colorful Ultra W OC is not good,Which makes me a little worried about the noise performance of Colorful Advanced OC.
To be honest,I don't know how to choose.
What would your recommendation be?
Thank you so much for helping me with my buying decision.
The Zotac will be a better option, and it’s warranty period for everywhere is the longest
The 索泰4080天启oc looks so much cooler than the amp airo. I would definitely gonna buy it. Let me know what you have decided
Haven't bought a new GPU since 1080ti...and this helps a TON to know that all after market 4080s perform quite similarly and isn't as big a discrepancy as before! THank you for this list! Hoping to see a 4080Super one soon! Unless it's more of the same?
The PNY XLR8 card is impressive really, runs like 10 degrees cooler on the memory than Suprim X (RPM matched).
What CPU would be the best to suit this card?
Rly nice work, when will we have some results for 4080super ?
@OTechnology
Could you do this for the 7900xtx/xt? or you dont like amd?
Hello. You think. Which Card model?
I'm currently using a Zotac AMP Extreme and slightly disagree with the bad temperatures. In a case with decent airflow and bottom fans the gpu fans never even turned on as it never reaches 50°c under load. Idle going up to 25°C. In my previous case with bad airflow the temperatures are as shown in your graphs, so seemingly the missing vapour chamber is not a problem, it's more likely a bad fan design. So I can still recommend the Zotac AMP Extreme for users with decent airflow.
No one ever said it had bad temperatures. It just has worse temperatures than the other high end cards.
@@OTechnologyKF2A apparently also uses the same rtx 4090 cooling method for the 4080.
I find thr fan on top quiet interesting as well, lol.
Can you do a video like this for Radeon GPUS like 7900XT and 7900XTX? Thank you!
Ok, I have to choose between: RTX 4080 KFA2 SG 1-Click OC vs ZOTAC AMP Extreme AIRO. What do you think? :D
what about MSI Ventus 3X OC 16GB? thanks. its the only one it fit my case. cheers. thanks in advance if u can say something about the card. appreciate heaps.
Please, for the noises did you also consider Coil Whine? Thanks
No, because it is really lottery!
I heard about a cracking PCB issue. Are any Asus Rog Strix boards affected by this? Specifically any of the RTX 4080s? If so which SKUs (UPCs)? Would a support bracket help avoid the problems? I know some larger boards sag. The more compact ones? Maybe not as much of an issue. It would be the long boards or ones with heavy coolers.
The thing I am wondering is are Asus ROG Strixes affected? I know GIgabyte is anyhow. I am just due for an upgrade after waiting out the sh!t storm of the covid years with the absolutely insane prices. Those were the worst 2 years of my life for building a PC!

in my case, due to space and other factors, the choice falls between the msi 4080 ventus x3 OC or the pny 4089 xrl8 verto epic-x OC.
which do you think I should choose? calculating that the pny xrl8 it costs more that ventus x3…..
For both 4080 and 4090s, would you recommend the zotac brand. I noticed for both teir list videos, you put them really low, would there be a reason why?
I mean you'd know why if you watched the video.
I own a ZOTAC GPU, but a 1000 series model. The only thing I can say about the brand is, that the RMA service is incredibly bad. I would keep my hands away from ZOTAC if you care about that.
hopefully you can do reviews on the AMD side.
To be fair to some cards like the Palit GameRock RTX4080 16GB has some of the higher "out of the box" overclocking. Still they mostly seem to operate within Nvidia's thermal limits.
Using rtx 4080 gamerock o.c. it is running great
Thank You!

Finally. I am currently on the market for 4080. I should go with the 4090 instead but the full system cost can increase exponentially because of the monitor, PSU to match up with 4090s power

Why is the PNY XLR8 lower than Phantom? PNY has the same temps, is quiter, has lower idle consumption and the best fan stop handling out of all cards.
I’m not a huge tech guy . But looking at this i want to buy either suprimx or gaming x trio or colourful volcun or tuf 4080. Which one is the best out of these? Any suggestions 😊
The Pny geforce RTX4080 verto card is on sale here now. Is it a good card?
PNY Verto OC has an insanely low noise levels. They used quiet BIOS as you had said. However, its temperatures are still fine despite a massive increase in quietness. Isn't this a massive advantage to PNY Verto OC card over all the other cards? Or that source data is little bit of apples to oranges comparison?
It can be 10 dB difference between various models and for me it is little bit strange how non-challant such a massive advantage was mentioned. I mean, I know friends for which this would be a deciding factor which card brand to purchase and even pay some premium for it. Recently, when I was assembling desktop for my friend, I recommended going for Gigabyte Eagle version over Palit one. He paid 10% more for a better RTX 3060 version to get a lot better three fan cooling solution and most importantly, 7 dB less noise.
It's an amazing card if you just want a quiet RTX 4080 for sure. But it's not like the Asus Strix and MSI Suprim cards aren't quiet either. They can be flipped to the quiet BIOS and be as quiet as the PNY card while maintaining higher clocks still and similar temps. Although, the PNY card does have a cooler that's basically as good as the Asus Strix and MSI Suprim so it is a very good option in that regard.
The source data for the temps are mainly from techpowerup as I explained. The PNY card is also from techpowerup so it can be directly compared with confidence. The only cards that are added from kitguru's data is the Inno3D and Gigabyte card which techpowerup did not review and so cannot be said to be 100% accurate. Although in my experience my method of adding the deltas made it accurate enough to be good enough for a direct comparison.
You have to remember dba is a logarithmic scale. So, the difference of 10dba at 40 to 50dba is larger than 20 to 30dba. At the lower volumes the measurements are also much less accurate when these GPU reviewers do not have proper anechoic chambers. So, you can only use the data as a reference to the other cards if one is quieter or noisier than another card.
I hope I explained that well. Let me know if you have more questions.
@@OTechnology The problem is that Techpower up for some reason used silent bios for testing for one of the cards and not for all others. Now loudness between cards are not directly comparable anymore nor I can to pick a card which I want for silent running. You say that Strix is just as quiet. Alright, how much quieter it is then? I cannot then use that graph anymore to decide which manufacturer's GPU I want to pick according to its noise levels.
For me, loudness of a card is quite important. I had noticed that there is a distinct lack of information about it on the internet. A lot of tech review outlets do not do loudness review. All of them have different methodologies which make them difficult to compare directly. Furthermore, no site has a full coverage of all cards and even ones who do a lot of those reviews sometimes can make errors and switch into wrong BIOS.
I'm basically getting a PNY XLR8 4080 OC solely on the fact that it runs so quiet lol. If only the power limits weren't locked it would legit be the perfect 4080 card in terms of price/performance. Planning to just overclock it like normal, worstcase I could always just shunt mod it or flash a vbios with an adujustable power limit.
Is it the same case for the 4080 super alternatives?
I have a msi 4080 ventus is it still a good card I'm kinda worried that since I bought the "cheapest" card I won't last
Considering I got my MSI Ventus 3X OC for $200 under MSRP off an ebay snipe, I couldn't be happier with it despite it being at the bottom of the stack. The price and the fact that MSI cards have transferable warranty sealed the deal. I paid for a stock AIB and got a stock AIB, so I can't complain with its performance at all. Even if it has the worst cooler, because it's so over engineered, there have been 0 issues, even in the summer with no AC. It's also pretty quiet in my opinion. From what I've read, it's also the smallest 4080 outside of a water block, so people with cramped cases or small form factor builders might enjoy it.
you paid 1k for a new 4080? 🫡
So how much was it? I got mine for 1000k and I was kinda thinking the same thing. I originally wanted a proart 4070 Ti for 830$, so for 170$ more I got a whole gpu up with 16gb vram (great for generative ai which great for me)
depends on your country too, the Ventus 3X OC was the only reasonably priced 4080 here in Australia when I brought mine
could you do a 4070 ti video next please. love the videos
Thanks! The 4070 Ti is next yes.

Respect for your work!
Let me save you some time there, pal. None of them are worth buying at all at their pricepoint.
Can you flash say a MSI Suprim X 4080 with a higher power limit BIOS from the Zotac Amp Extreme for instance? My Suprim X has dual BIOS so it's way less risky, if possible.
