    I finally got approved. They agreed with my onset date, and I applied 8 months later. After I filed, it took 18 months to receive a decision.
    I was 55 yo at my onset date,
    I have aggressive osteoarthritis, and have had multiple surgeries.
    SS arranged a mental health evaluation (a consultative exam) as I hadn't seen a specialist for my depression in a long while.
    Once that was completed, my claim was approved in 3 weeks.
    I still can't believe it, this process has been debilitating

      I was 63 when I filed for my SSDI an it took 2 weeks to get my first check after I when to there doctor an they took x-rays of my back
      But when you turn 70 your NOT on disability any more you go on S.S. retirement an still l disable.

      Why did you apply 8 month's after your onset date? First u submit your medical history and they determine your onset date? They can start paying back benefits up to 2 year's they used to go back further but anyway I have Osteoporosis, kidney disease,an anxiety disorder and depression and it took me 2 years to get approved so you're very lucky I did receive retroactive pay based on my onset date which was nice however they tried to take 181.00 out of my check for Medicare premiums so I called and I qualified for the state to pay my premiums many people don't realize this !!

      Sorry lol one last comment you mentioned SS had u see a doctor regarding your depression? Their main job is absolutely to deny you trust me you said you never saw anyone for your depression? I'm shocked they approved you because you need a ton of medical evidence I'm assuming it was due to your Osteoarthritis not depression and your wait was actually minimal!! Hey good for you!! But make sure and check to see if they're reducing your payment due to Medicaire premiums!

    Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-TX), Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) and Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) have re-introduced legislation to phase out the waiting period for SSDI and provide immediate access to Medicare for those DI beneficiaries who cannot get or afford other health insurance. Not sure if you mentioned this in last months video. But getting support out for this bill will help those still waiting to get approved.

This is EXACTLY what we are doing with the Ukraine right now. How? Social Security may run out in 10 years unless Congress restructure the system!

    • @abqneely
      @abqneely Рік тому +2

      They will fix the funding shortfall as the drop dead date grows closer. I say this based on history of similar circumstances. The system ran low on funds in 1977 and again in 1983. Both times Congress took action and pumped more money into the system by a combination of tax increases and a gradual increase in full retirement age from 65 to 67. The Social Security Expansion Act has no chance of passage. The reason is quite simple. It contains a significant tax increase which is a non-starter for the Republicans. Due to Senate rules, 60 votes are needed for cloture and the Democrats simply don’t have the votes unless they can get 10 Republicans on board. The next problem would be in the House of Representatives where the Democrats are the minority. It’s not gonna pass unless the public puts enormous pressure on the Republicans. Not trying to be politically motivated, I’m simply stating the reality of the situation.

    Isn't it odd that the ssdi Dr says you are ready and able to go back to work BUT 2 well respected high powered orthopedic doctors have already told me that my shoulder and knee need to be replaced. CT Scan on my shoulder is scheduled in 2 days. Shoulder replacement surgery will be soon. Not looking forward to it but knee replacement will be coming before long. 63 and have a very good 45 year work record but got denied . Sure hope they quit playing games before I have to start selling all that I worked so hard for.

    Hello, i just got approved last month after almost eight years of fighting. I was denied time after time. I have fibromyalgia, Osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, spinal stenosis, I suffer with anxiety and depression. I have a spinal Cord stimulator implant. I have a total knee replacement. I'm 52 years old and i feel as if i am 85. I still look young but my body has totally given up on me. I want to know more about these programs if you don't mind. I truly appreciate all the information you are informing us with. Thank you so very much.

    I've been on SSDI for three years and still been working not full-time or part-time just a fill-in. However, my pay rate is high and I work one to two days a week 8hrs and get paid every two weeks. I got a letter saying for the six months I went over my SGA. So, I wrote them a letter stating that I will reduce my hrs. Do you think they will cute me off or make me pay back the money? I can't work a full-time job because of the elements that I have. I am praying that they make a decision for me to pay them back then cut me off completely.

      @@paulforsell1439 Though I agree that it would be beneficial to those of us on SS, it doesn't provide any immediate wealth to the greedy politicians. We also circle back to the fact that this bill was introduced in 2019. The traction it has gained is with a couple more Dems, which isn't enough to make anything happen in the end. These videos are nothing more than clickbait to those who are suffering with low SSDI, SS benefits. Bringing up, and linking to a stale bill, that isn't moving at all is not helping the situation. If you want to make a real difference, make a video saying "Hey, this old bill that would help is really going nowhere, but if we all band together and write our congressmen/senators demanding action it would be better than sitting around hoping the tree out back is going to start growing money!"
