Massive my man! This review was great! loved it! Would really love to see a comparison video between this Sterling JP157D and PRS SE SVN (Mark Holocomb).
Hey dude, how do you like the guitar after having it for a while (presuming you still own it). I've been thinking about getting this model but am unsure. Any info would be appreciated, cheers and take care!
This is the higher spec model of the JP157 and it has DiMarzio pickups. If you get the teal/black/blue one PLEASE do yourself a favor and replace the pickups. It's a great guitar, the looks and playability are very good but the Sterling pickups are muddy as hell, especially on the lower strings.
@@ericsalinas1839 no, they aren’t active but the guitar has active electronics (basically a built in pre-amp) which I’d recommend getting rid of right away. It’s basically a pre-amp pedal but worse which also makes you require batteries to play. Yes, you can (and should) replace them with any humbucker pickup for your number of strings. I’d personally recommend getting coil split and having the push-push pot control the split, but any decent branded pickups will turn it into a great guitar. Also, the model in the video doesn’t need that. It’s equipped with DiMarzios which are great. Only the lower spec ones have crappy stock pickups.
@@thelickpolice1210I have the guitar. Stock pickups are muddy and the push volume is acting up. Throwing in some dimarzios and swapping out the volume for a regular one.
@@ericsalinas1839 that’s pretty much what I did. Totally recommend. Other than that I think it’s an amazing guitar for the price. Plays wonderful, finish is spotless and beautiful, materials are really awesome and you don’t find any flaws in build quality unless you REALLY look for them.

I have both, they're both so nice that one couldn't really go wrong with either, sterling sounds a touch better to my ears though!

Are the stock ones active? If so, can they be replaced with a different brand?
