Same here, also it helps A LOT if you are suffering from arthritis or carpal tunnel or anything similar, because of the physical way it's used, helped me a lot with my carpal tunnel pain.
I grew up with arcade games, and although I've never been a fighting game expert per se, I also had an equal amount of time playing on consoles. The reason I use a fight stick for FighterZ is 1 because of the customization options and 2 because I have really big hands! When there's complex button sequences involved it's always really hard for me to do on a traditional controller because of the small buttons, so a fight stick is ideal because I always know what button I'm pushing.
For me (an inexperienced player when it comes to fight games) quarter-circling has always been my main difficulty. Would you recommend trying out something like the pad you showed in this video and using the d-pad instead of analog sticks? It felt kind of strange trying to use the d-pad to quarter circle on a standard PS4 controller so I’m a little skeptical
I used to feel the same but when your quarter circles don't work most of the time are because: 1- You press the trigger or button before completely finishing the quarter circle (normally because you do it fast) and 2- You're doing the move in the middle of an animation where you're not allowed to attack
I alternate. I use the analog stick for circle motions and use the d-pad for literally everything else. It works best for circle motions, especially tiger knees
I bought a cheap fightstick and modded it with sanwa parts so it lasts and i prefer octagonal gate over square also sanwa buttons feel way better than the original ones and for anyone wondering i bought the mayflash f101 stick
dope vid it taught me that its not all about the controller as a inexperienced player i use a xbox 1 controller and play with analog stick that's what I've used my whole life
I've always been awful at fighting games with a controller. (I'm not any good with a stick, either) I just can't seem to get the inputs that I want. When I tried a stick with this game, suddenly I could do things much easier. I don't know what it is, but I just play better with a stick. I had never used an arcade stick before that day, but after using it, I can never go back. Sticks just make sense to me for fighting games. Not to mention, my thumb always hurt after playing for a while on pad. Sticks are the way to go for me.
Jesus Martinez as far as the button layout goes I moved the vanishing attack to my RS which does help with attacking and quickly using it but as far as use it the paddles haven’t used them yet..I did try using the larger d-pad(yes I know it’s not the name of it) but if your thumb does come during a heated battle the pad will tend to lift and may fall
i personally use the keyboard lol. my controls have light, medium, heavy, and special set to 7,8,9, and + on the numpad and WASD for movement and it works like a charm.
When I first started fighting games using a stick was hard, but when I got used to it, I preferred it. The pads hurt my thumbs with all the half circles. Tekken is brutal with a controller, because all the moves that require you to hit face buttons at the same time, Try hitting x and triangle fast in a combo.
I copped a razer arcade stick for the x1. I'm getting accustomed to it at the moment but I feel eventually Ill feel comfortable later on. It's very responsive tho. This game has really sparked my fighting interest as of late.
@@jgoldvlogs5835 I use D-pad, it's very bad... idk if it's my controller or my thumb but it hurts a lot and also, some directions are super innacurate (sorry if my English is bad)
I have been using the Xbone controller on the PC version, and I am having a really hard time to do the quarter circle motions which needless to say fucks me up during matches.
It happens. Had a few of those kids in mom's basement throw a fit when I mentioned that dilemma. I have the problem whether it's ps4 xbone or Nintendo alike. The kids all exclaim it's 100% user error and to check my button presses in practice, yet when even practice says I'm doing it perfect it still fails. That's when the kids try to blame timing which the handy dandy replay shows no error. I'm any case, good luck!
Reachie that's my issue as well when doing combos. Like ill do 3 in a row no issue then the next 3 will just drop commands which is why i decided to go with a fight stick. I've never used one before but I'm excited to play this game in a new way. I'm getting the Hori Fightstick Pro N friday. Hope it goes well. I am expecting atleast a week adjustment from a controller though.
Video footage is taken from a compilation of on XusesGB's channel. He does gameplay compilations for a ton of games, so go give em a watch if your into that kind of content! ua-cam.com/users/XusesGB
For myself, It has been extremely long since I played a fighting game and since I played most of my games during the 90s once I moved from NY to Florida. I lost my fighting game buddy since we lost touch. Now I am aiming to get back into my fighting game roots playing FighterZ. Gonna be a tough road but it will take time to get my skill where it once was. Since I stopped playing in 2000. Wish me luck lol
Thanks. Yea, trying to get used to double jumping when I launch them. I spend a great deal in training mode. Cause that double launch messes me up. Lol Keep forgetting to press up after the 8th hit to continue. I can pull off 10 to 12 hit combos. But I aim for those 18 hit or more.
Yea, I think I spent a good 3 hours in Training Mode today. Kinda enjoying. Kid Buu, Krillin, Adult Gohan or Vegeta(super Saiyan or Super Saiyan Blue), Beerus, and 18
if you think about it, the sega saturn controller might be a good fightpad... ofc i'm talking about the one without analog stick. ✔️has 6 buttons for L,M,H ✔️has shoulder buttons for L+M+H in fact, the layout is similar to most fightpad, including the hori one that rhyme uses
You can pick up a fight stick in a few days. If you want one get one. But for dbz fighters controller is probably better. I like my stick for tekken and other fight games. Sticks are just more fun, think of it as a racing game. You can use your controller or a racing wheel
Though out my whole life in gaming I’ve always used a controller of some sort cause I’ve been used to the muscle memory and considering that I’m new to fighterz its cool that it’s introduced to quarter-circling and since Xbox d-pad is so small it’s way easier to quarter circle. Wow I actually wrote all that over a fighting game
+Zinogg Wow, fantastic insight. Now I know that every respected player over the last couple decades has actually been absolute trash because they happened to lose at some major this one time.
+Baas Shër Yeah, I know what he said. Now do yourself a favor and learn about what "context" means so you can have a better understanding of the discussion before opening your mouth again.
Only problem with the PS4 controller I have is the joycon is unresponsive as fuck it registers an ultimate as a dragon rush even though I did the exact movements to use an ultimate costing me many many m a n y matches though it’s also awkward as fuck to just completely abandon the joycon and use the button inputs
I recently got back into playing fighterz seriously and got my manual combos back down but I notice when watching really high skill competitive players that in their air combos from manuals they manage to do a 2H in the air then keep attacking to chain more damage but anytime I try to replicate this my 2H just has a sort of mini cutscene knocking them in the air with no opportunity to chain? It might just be me doing something wrong but I'm thinking it might just be something only possible with a fight stick as maybe you can just do the inputs faster to cancel the locked knock up animation? Any help would be massively appreciated as I wanna up my combos to the next level.
you don't press the heavy attack button alone you have to press down heavy to to do an aerial launcher here's a combo that works wonders for most characters . low medium - standing medium - jump - light - medium -down heavy - medium - light - medium - jump - medium - light - medium - medium (light is square/x - medium is triangle/y - heavy is circle/B and that's all you need to know to become a pro)
Haha so I bought blazblue to prepare myself for this game, and thank god I did. manual combos where so much harder in that game. learning dbfz combos came so much easier.
Not4You Me too, I use this controller for almost eveything. I personally use the analog stick though, since it's so close to the buttons and it helps for me to air dash easy using both thumbs. Just wonder if it'll be an issue if I ever become competitive eith DBFZ
Personally I find the bumpers very useful and make combos that can use them easier to perform, not just dbfz but other fighters as well. Having multiple buttons linked to 1 button that isn't my thumb which is working on 4 at once feels very natural (although the fight stick does the same thing, utilizing more fingers)
I use a stick for all fighting games except Mortal Kombat. I feel like the layout just isn’t made for that game (2punches, 2 kicks, and a block button). Got my first stick for PS3 with SFIV Vanilla and never looked back. I used to play in arcades, it never had one at home. It was a bit of a transition (looong time since I’ve played in arcades) but once you get it down, it’s the only way you’ll want to play.
razberryclownsac There was an MK9 fight stick back when that came out that had a different layout from the norm (6 buttons laid out in an X shape with one extra button on the lower left side of the X), It emulates the arcade MK layout where the block button is in the center of the X (because it's your most important button to access)
I never thought I would need a fight stick but playing the game for a couple minutes can make me thumbs really have like a burning sensation when using the d-pad and it makes me very inaccurate which makes me not want to play I'm not New to sticks at all I just want to be more accurate when I'm playing & comfortable so I'll be getting a stick soon
Wich one would you recommend the most out of them. Im realy thinking about buying a mayflash f300 or f500 and i just dont know. (I know im here in these comments too late, my Bad tho)
thank you for this. Im into fighting games but I use a ps4 controller. Most people would say "no the fight stick is most optimal" even tho im not used to it.
Hitbox controllers are really good for people who are used to playing games on keyboard. Jumping with your left thumb is kinda weird, but quarter circles and even half circles are easier to pull off imo.
in certain games, controllers are advantageous to sticks, such as tekken you can also use a keyboard/hitbox which is considered optimal in basically every game, though it can also be more confusing to start out with.
IMO i believe its what depends on what people/gamers are comfortable with when playing fighting games. for example, whenever i play Street Fighter V, i always use controller (PS4) while in Tekken 7 i played it on arcade stick since the first time i played it on arcades (although im not used to it yet).
Just play with what the heck you find more comfortable, I will keep up with the Arcade Stick for every single fighting game, changing button layout in DB Fighterz is super important. Especially the Support Assistant Buttons.
i use fightstick for street fight and stuff and i was stubburn at first but the game was clearly made for controller and now that ive embraced it im way better...and i have a te2+ im using a dual shock right now but i got a hori fighting comander on the way now
Try looking into jump cancels my friend i’m sure you can find a video out there but essentially it is cancelling your jump into a hit so when in air you can hit light, jump, medium, jump, light etc. or put your own mix on it. Jump cancelling from the ground however is a little harder so I recommend just practicing your jump cancels in air or after you super dash or something. Then after the fact when you’re comfortable, all across the board, from neutral, you can press crouching medium, standing medium, jump, light, jump, medium, jump, light and etc. hope this helps
Yeah, at first i couldn't do a single air combo. But go into practice, and practice practice practice. I practiced for 10 minutes and within that 10 mins I've got comfortable and the timing on point.
I'm a PC player, and I use an XBOX 360 Controller. Never owned an XBOX console, mainly owned Nintendo and PlayStation consoles. I've tried using the XBOX One controller for this game, but, it's uncomfortable. Personally, I love using the XBOX360 controller. It's comfortable, perfect size for my hands, and easy to use. If I ever go to a tournament, though, I feel like it'd be basically impossible to use an XBOX360 Controller.
This is a no brainer question these days. Answer is to use whatever you feel comfortable with. People in the fgc have been successful with both stick and pad. Haven't finished your vid but pretty sure that's your conclusion too.
I wanna switch to fight stick from regular controller because I CAN NOT do level 3s or 1s on command, at will when I wanna. I think fight sticks might be more precise.
Hori Fighting Commander on PC works well for me. It gives you plenty of extra buttons. My Soul Calibur 4 fight stick died a couple years ago, so I've been using controllers since then, but I can use either a fight stick or a gamepad. Both have their pros and cons. If your serious about the game, it's probably worth trying both a stick and a pad, that way you can judge yourself which one helps you do things like instant air dashes easier. It's not like the fight stick will go to waste or anything. You can use it for the next 10 years if you get a really good one.
I have tag outs set to the right trigger and right bumper. i have vanish set to the left trigger. I have grab set to the rb button at the top left and i have super dash set to the top right.
Yes, I'm thinking of perhaps setting RB and RT as assist keys and instead using using the X+Y and A+B to do dragon rush and super dash instead. I'm also thinking of maybe changing left and right triggers (RST and L) to be assists.
I think im gonna switch to keyboard, since its pretty hard to dash on my gc controller. I wish they had a flick dash option, where if you flick your stick you would dash, and if you moved slowly, you would walk.
I have a Xbox One Controller and I get trouble from the D-Pad, sometimes I try to do a kamehameha as goku, but then it just shoots a little ki blast and also when I use a super kamehameha, it normally just makes me do a combo rush
In my opinion. The stick also has room to press buttons with better accuracy, and not too mention you can customize a fight pad with layouts. My Xbox one remote sucks when it comes to using a d pad or a thumbstick. Clicking the stick back and forth for dodging or quick maneuvers is not easy to do with a cheap little thumbstick or a d pad with only four directions.
I use the xarcade tank stick. It’s definitely a good option it’s durable and has 8 face buttons for each player. Two rows of 3 and then 2 bottom buttons that you use your thumb with. One plus is that it has a trackball so you can play some classic arcade games. Or super monkey ball in dolphin.
I am by no means good at fighting games, but from my personal experience stick is more natural and slightly easier to play on. I have played DBF on both pad and stick and frankly I have a very hard time trying to use the thumb stick or directional buttons for my inputs, either too many directional inputs leading to things like jumping at the wrong time or missing an input for a special to end a combo. Now to stick. To put it simply, the sky is the limit. You can spend as much or as little money as you want on a stick. Personally I have 2 sticks, the first one is a PS3 Injustice Stick with added Sanwa buttons, and the second is a ~$40 stick i built myself (within the past week) using a prebuilt box and cheap knock-off stick, buttons, and usb encoder; frankly they both perform great for me and I have no problems using either. Again, like Doto and many others have said, it's simply personal preference and practice with your controller of choice! Sorry for the stupid long reply, but I hope this helps.
i tried a ps4 controller and xbox one controller, (my friend's) mad catz fightstick and out of all of 'em I prefer my keyboard, i shit you not. I much rather use my keyboard, my reason is that the movement is much more natural for me with the wasd setup (planning to get the mixbox)
I just switched over to Arcade Stick from controller. My hands are so outrageously sweaty after a few matches on a controller that I would constantly Mia input with the controller. Switched for more precision and much less moisture lol.
I can't imagine using an arcade stick, heck even using a joystick for fighting games is insane to me, I need a good D-pad, so the ps4 controller has my number.
@@kakyoinsmenacingpaintbrush88 I guess, though I usually can handle those just fine. my main problem is oddly enough dashing, usually I end up walking instead of running forward.
i use keyboard since i have better control of "stick" inputs. Easier to do quarter circles because you literally just press two buttons for the quarter circle and whatever you have for the desired attack button. Also better to move in the air while doing combos. The only janky part i can really see is that its VERY different from controllers so if you're used to controllers...you're gonna have a difficult time, but it's very rewarding if you have patience. Only obnoxious part is if you do not have good control of your fingers and you misinput. PRACTICE!
Desperado I actually just switched to keyboard from controller for that very reason - I was dropping dpad inputs left and right, especially doing instant air dashes. I switched to keyboard two days ago and I’m already doing better than I ever was with a controller simply because I find the keyboard to be much more consistent with inputs for me personally. Granted I am average at best in this game, so I really didn’t have a very high bar to exceed switching to keyboard, but I’m super glad I switched.
When using the 6 button pad, do you use all 6 buttons or do you continue to use the trigger buttons? I recently got one and using R1 and R2 on the face is just plain difficult to get use to. I end up losing my button positioning especially when doing combos.
Normally the PS4 controller is fine with me, but not in this game. I find that when I get into it my fast movements with either directional option causes me to press something I don't wanna touch! Be it the edge of my long thumb brushing against the share button, which opens up the goddamn share menu, or if I'm on the analog stick, my thumb falling off the stick completely and hitting the home button. Like you I also have trouble using shoulder buttons quickly enough when I'm trying to link up attacks. It's a real pain in the ass. I feel like that due to playing with a fight stick, as long as you can train your fingers to move independently very well you'll eventually have a big advantage over using a normal controller. My logic is as follows, when you're playing with your thumb you have to rapidly move it all over the place, whereas when you're using your fingertips you just have to occasionally move them up and down; otherwise you just have to press down a button. I feel like this increases the speed of your button presses, once you're used to it and reduces the chance of erroring and pressing the wrong buttons. I'm finding some of the combos challenges INCREDIBLY hard to do because I just can't press the buttons consistently fast enough with the standard PS4 controller/layout.
@@millgiass im thinking of buying this game but seeing your comment maybe not...if i have to buy new controllers or 🕹️ to play well.then its not worth it...i will just stick to tekken 7..
@@gogozeppeli9267 I have long thumbs. So it mostly happens when I'm doing aerials. This is not a tappy tappy game like tekken, it's a directional sweepy, tappy, switch directions, tappy, etc game, like Blaze Blue. It can be had for a cheap price on PS4, I prefer the switch Pro control to the PS4 control though.
Have the Xbox one x and have been using the razer atrox good quality the only thing I change was the square to the octagonal for more movement in the stick 👌🏽
I have issues with my ps2 clone controller for pc. Sometimes when I block with my d-pad, character jumps or crouches and i get beaten by my opponent. Trying with the Stick, its too difficult to do dashes. Also, I fail lot of times doing half circles, and leave my guard open
I feel like the Xbox d pad it weird because of the middle part and it makes it weird for blocking and doing ex moves or level 1s and 3s It may be because I’ve only got 100 hours but I end up supper dashing sometimes instead of doing a level 1 or 3
won't it be hard to input some moves via d-pad? like those uniques which you have to perform circular motion. what's your thought on that? personally i use d-pad because i can perform dashes easily with button press rather than analog tilts. thats why i have a hard time playing with control system other than tekken (those with QCF's etc) in DBFZ i tried to use only the analog stick but dashes are hard for me, making my moves very limited. although i managed to switch between pad and analog on the fly but that is tiring..
Vipera217 In DBFZ you will almost exclusively use quarter circle motions (and half-circles if you want to tag into a super without the active character using a super first); and that motion isn't too challenging to pull off on a D-pad, unlike more complicated motions (looking at you DP). With a bit of practice you should have little trouble pulling off the specials and supers.
SillySausage I used to have two genuine USB Saturn pads from SLS Japan and my ex left the bag I had it in out in a parking lot because she got mad at me over the phone and she had been watching my bag for me while out in the field with the army. I was 15m away and when I got there my bag was gone with both controllers and some things my mom had given me years ago. I didn't pay much for them, I got lucky and got them on eBay for 10 bucks when nobody knew they were legit. Now they're literally priceless. Who knows where they are. The Hori pad is good but nothing compares to the Saturn pad. I don't know why people can't make a replica of it. As for my ex, I'm just hoping karma knows its way around.
Madcatz TE2 doesnt work properly when plugged into PC..i have managed to make it work, but LT and RT are not recognized..it seems to be a Windows problems..have u find a solution for this issue?
Steam's Big Picture Mode allows for D-Input controllers to be read as X-input. Just go into Big Picture mode and map the buttons for your stick. This video details the process: ua-cam.com/video/3tSzaOje640/v-deo.html
Nah, you really don't need to buy a $200-$300 rip-off fightstick. You can buy a cheap $60 one then buy the higher quality Sanwa or Qwanba parts (around $20-$30 extra, depending where you get the parts online) to replace the cheap parts in the cheap fightstick. Works really great! I've done that with my Mayflash fightstick and it hasn't worn out or stopped working and I've had it for 5 years now, and it still works reliably. Granted, you may have to slightly modify the cheap fightstick's housing to make Sanwa buttons fit or solder the Sanwa/Qwanba joystick wires to the cheap stick's motherboard, but it isn't time consuming and is pretty easy to do and you save yourself hundreds of dollars for a rough equivalent that'll last just as long and feel just as high quality!
I know its a little too late to ask that, but i want to ask you what mayflash youve been using. Im realy thinking about buying a mayflash f500 or f300 and i realy dont know, which one would be the better option because one is 86 bucks and the other 100.
Then there's me. Using a knock-off Switch Wired Pro Controller. I've gotten so used to it. Don't get me wrong. It's bad, no doubt, but after awhile it just starts to feel like a Xbox One Controller. It's not bad for what it is, but I would definitely much rather buy a official Pro Controller. Unfortunately, we never get any at our stores, and when we do I never have the money to buy one.
So I do agree you should get quality but with fighterz it has all controllers in mind and works really well with even cheap fightsticks. Leffen (the number 1 player on PC) even says that he would recommend against buying a 200 fightstick as it really isn't as much of an advantage to you in this game as it is in like SF, however, duration is key if you plan on playing for a very long time and with other fighters.
Yeah! Controllers work really well for this game, I was just saying if you happen to want a fightstick you probably want to get one that wont break too easily!
That's true, I was just saying if you want to get into fighting games more and want to use fighting sticks I actually recommend the cheaper ones to get the feel before eventually upgrading. It's helpful and you can always go up from there. It's what I plan to do since I haven't had a stick in a long time
I have a hori pad that I use for SFV but cannot for the life of me use it for dbfz, simply because I cannot IAD the same way I do with the standard ps4 controller. The dpad just sticks out to much on the hori pad to do it the way I'm most comfortable, which is a shame, since I prefer the hori button layout.
I'm thinking of getting a fight stick because my left thumb isn't fast enough and gets tired easily from dashing alot using a controller but with a bigger stick I can hold it and move around using my index and thumb to help reduce fatigue
im gonna take your advice and invest in a good one since i used to beat the hell out of them at the arcades. I was always on the Mortal Kombat and Nfl Blitz cabinets :)
Im using a Scuf Infinity 1. Its my back up scuff. I put rumble packs back in for weight, have a medium stick on the right (not that it matters) and the large on the left. I usually use the Dpad. I took the paddles off so the only difference is the trigger stops and the joy sticks are longer, and wider circle to turn them, higher sensitivity ect and the grip I guess. Paddles didn;'t work to great, maybe ill practice with them more, but doubt it. I use the D pad most the time, and having trouble with the turns as well too. I cant always do them, and never are as quick as I would like, unless im like in super fast mode. The d pad wore skin offmy thumb in 3 hours, and I have tough hands working for consumers energy (provide eectricty) so i use my hands at work so they have calius, and they stil got fucked. May get a gaming controller, I would like a dpad with 8 directions for jumping thats also a problem. Let me know if anyone knows a good controller. Also I stream overwatch on console and give away Gift cards all the time GT is Mizat. Building a PC can't wait till its done.
I dont know i have used an xbox controller my whole life and not an arcade fighting stick, but my controller just doesnt feel right and i have the feeling that a fight stick would be better for me, i dont know, i feel slow when i play with the xbox controller and a flat controller with the buttons laid out on a flat surface would just feel more easy to access for me
I've had the same feeling. I am able to play on both, but I feel that I have more control with my inputs when I play on the stick. I would recommend getting a Qanba Drone. 80 dollars is a good starting point for a new stick. The plus side is that you can replace the stick and buttons for ones that are higher quality.
Doesn't matter what you use pad or stick. I've been a pad player for years, just recently switched to stick and I find my inputs have improved better. But some things I can do better on pad, like insta air dash.
It's common sense if you think about it. The layout of a fight stick allows a more natural way to interact with your character. This only really applies to fighting games and platformers though.
Hi. I would buy DBFZ. But, I have a question. Is it worth it on keyboard. I play games on keyboard my whole life. I can buy a controller but, I don't think I will be good at it.

Same here, also it helps A LOT if you are suffering from arthritis or carpal tunnel or anything similar, because of the physical way it's used, helped me a lot with my carpal tunnel pain.

That awkwardly sad moment when I play my best using a goddamn keyboard.
2 years later but whatever, that's cause a keyboard it's basically a D-pad.
I got a stick because I'm used to drawing. Using my thumb felt unnatural and i got a stick without ever trying one. Worked out perfectly.
I grew up with arcade games, and although I've never been a fighting game expert per se, I also had an equal amount of time playing on consoles.
The D-pad is my preferred way to play on controller, It feels strange at first for sure, but with some practice it kind of becomes muscle memory!
if youre playing on gamepad the d-pad is absolutely the way to go
I used to feel the same but when your quarter circles don't work most of the time are because: 1- You press the trigger or button before completely finishing the quarter circle (normally because you do it fast) and 2- You're doing the move in the middle of an animation where you're not allowed to attack
My little advice is to use the little knuckle bone below your thumb to press and down and from there make movement forward or backward, works for me.

The stick to me is just easier to get the moves down
I usually try using the analog stick for the combos, but they don't always work. Guess that's a sign
I’m just using the stick so that when I go to my arcades once in a while, it won’t feel like I’m trying to learn the game all over again.
I’m use it the elite controller for the Xbox.. I did customize it for the button layout to help with ease and playability for the game.
Bberry How can you use the extra buttons for the elite controller? What movements do you assign to them?
Jesus Martinez as far as the button layout goes I moved the vanishing attack to my RS which does help with attacking and quickly using it but as far as use it the paddles haven’t used them yet..I did try using the larger d-pad(yes I know it’s not the name of it) but if your thumb does come during a heated battle the pad will tend to lift and may fall
i personally use the keyboard lol. my controls have light, medium, heavy, and special set to 7,8,9, and + on the numpad and WASD for movement and it works like a charm.
Mail me one
I'm using a Gamecube controller, lmao
I feel like a GC controller is not that bad. It lacks an extra shoulder pad, but inputs are probably much easier with the notches on the analog stick.
Yeah, I had to swap some button mapping around but it works really nice.
i mean, the new wii U gamecube controllers have full shoulders pad. THE ONLY THING NINTENDO DID RIGHT XD
Are you talking about the Hori Battle Pad? That's not a Nintendo product. You also can't use it wired on PC :/
Gamecube's thumbstick is actually superior to other controllers. It's similar to an arcade stick and it's easier for precise diagonals.
When I first started fighting games using a stick was hard, but when I got used to it, I preferred it. The pads hurt my thumbs with all the half circles. Tekken is brutal with a controller, because all the moves that require you to hit face buttons at the same time, Try hitting x and triangle fast in a combo.
Hatts Harbringer I can, after hours on end upon practice, then I switched to a fight stick.
I copped a razer arcade stick for the x1. I'm getting accustomed to it at the moment but I feel eventually Ill feel comfortable later on. It's very responsive tho. This game has really sparked my fighting interest as of late.
I bought a fight stick but I switched back to controller cause I didn’t feel to comfortable with it after a week
No one does after a week god dam.
I'll use my Nintendo switch pro controller, I'm not competitive:)
I know its not released on switch yet
Do you use the d pad or the joy stick
It is now lol
@@jgoldvlogs5835 I use D-pad, it's very bad... idk if it's my controller or my thumb but it hurts a lot and also, some directions are super innacurate (sorry if my English is bad)
@@christianserrano4669 yeah, definitely the d pad is horrible. That’s the reason I looked up for a video, to see for a better controller
Is it weird that I play sideways joycons on this game and still play better than PS4
I recommend an arcade stick because regular controllers do not always work.
I have been using the Xbone controller on the PC version, and I am having a really hard time to do the quarter circle motions which needless to say fucks me up during matches.
Reachie Don't give up, it's all about practice :)
Same problem with PS4 regardless of DPad or Analog. It's so sporadic. Makes it a lot less fun
KH3player So can you tell us about your new controller? Is it better or worse than a normal controller?
Video footage is taken from a compilation of on XusesGB's channel. He does gameplay compilations for a ton of games, so go give em a watch if your into that kind of content! ua-cam.com/users/XusesGB
This video is actually pog. Thanks a lot.
Best of luck getting back into it!
Thanks. Yea, trying to get used to double jumping when I launch them. I spend a great deal in training mode. Cause that double launch messes me up. Lol Keep forgetting to press up after the 8th hit to continue. I can pull off 10 to 12 hit combos. But I aim for those 18 hit or more.
Yea the jump cancel gets a lot of people, I would just say to keep at it and get it into your muscle memory of jumping towards them!
✔️has 6 buttons for L,M,H
✔️has shoulder buttons for L+M+H
in fact, the layout is similar to most fightpad, including the hori one that rhyme uses
You can pick up a fight stick in a few days. If you want one get one. But for dbz fighters controller is probably better. I like my stick for tekken and other fight games. Sticks are just more fun, think of it as a racing game. You can use your controller or a racing wheel
I use the keyboard lol I’m doing fine
GG
Carpal Tunnel Here we come!
Are there difficulties to use ultimate attacks or any other things? Because I will buy it to play on keyboard...
No, it's not difficult at all. ua-cam.com/video/GdvCG_ISoaM/v-deo.html
Dragon HAKI how do you connect it to ps4?
Though out my whole life in gaming I’ve always used a controller of some sort cause I’ve been used to the muscle memory and considering that I’m new to fighterz its cool that it’s introduced to quarter-circling and since Xbox d-pad is so small it’s way easier to quarter circle. Wow I actually wrote all that over a fighting game
Sonic fox uses a ps4/Xbox controller and hes literally already the best in this game. Look his gameplay if you dont believe me hes GOD like
m4ticc I think everyone knows sonic fox lol he’s the god of fighting games
+Zinogg Wow, fantastic insight. Now I know that every respected player over the last couple decades has actually been absolute trash because they happened to lose at some major this one time.
+Dallyink ??? That's not what Zinogg said. (S)He just mentioned that he lost his last evo. You're kind of making yourself seem like a salty fanboy
+Baas Shër Yeah, I know what he said. Now do yourself a favor and learn about what "context" means so you can have a better understanding of the discussion before opening your mouth again.
quit being salty Dallyink
Any help would be massively appreciated as I wanna up my combos to the next level.
you don't press the heavy attack button alone you have to press down heavy to to do an aerial launcher here's a combo that works wonders for most characters .
low medium - standing medium - jump - light - medium -down heavy - medium - light - medium - jump - medium - light - medium - medium
(light is square/x - medium is triangle/y - heavy is circle/B and that's all you need to know to become a pro)
Haha so I bought blazblue to prepare myself for this game, and thank god I did. manual combos where so much harder in that game. learning dbfz combos came so much easier.
Thanks google for sending me to this video! Awesome guide, real helpfull!
may be weird but im loving the steam controller for fighter z.
Are you using the stick or the touchpad to move?
i personally use the touch pad but its all preference
Its that precise?
It was a bit of a transition (looong time since I’ve played in arcades) but once you get it down, it’s the only way you’ll want to play.
razberryclownsac
There was an MK9 fight stick back when that came out that had a different layout from the norm (6 buttons laid out in an X shape with one extra button on the lower left side of the X), It emulates the arcade MK layout where the block button is in the center of the X (because it's your most important button to access)
I have a fightstick and I have a controller what should I use honestly doto would love your input
I never thought I would need a fight stick but playing the game for a couple minutes can make me thumbs really have like a burning sensation when using the d-pad and it makes me very inaccurate which makes me not want to play
I'm not New to sticks at all I just want to be more accurate when I'm playing & comfortable so I'll be getting a stick soon
As a man who has motor skill disability what controller or adjustments would you recommend?
If you need a fights stick at a cheap price, look at the mayflash sticks, there really good
Wich one would you recommend the most out of them. Im realy thinking about buying a mayflash f300 or f500 and i just dont know. (I know im here in these comments too late, my Bad tho)
@@tenju. personally, the f300 of your not gonna do any art for it. If you have the money, get the f500 elite
Aight thanks man and thanks you for the very fast response too.
thank you for this.
Thanks for the info. Been thinking buying a stick and now i know that dpad is okay with dbfz👍🏼
Hey do you use the Hori fighting commander? If so is it good for DBFZ?
I use a hori fighting commander and it's pretty good. I usually use pads for anime fighters and stick for the rest.
in certain games, controllers are advantageous to sticks, such as tekken
you can also use a keyboard/hitbox which is considered optimal in basically every game, though it can also be more confusing to start out with.
IMO i believe its what depends on what people/gamers are comfortable with when playing fighting games. for example, whenever i play Street Fighter V, i always use controller (PS4) while in Tekken 7 i played it on arcade stick since the first time i played it on arcades (although im not used to it yet).
Love you Doya for clearing my stress😅
Just play with what the heck you find more comfortable, I will keep up with the Arcade Stick for every single fighting game, changing button layout in DB Fighterz is super important. Especially the Support Assistant Buttons.
i use fightstick for street fight and stuff and i was stubburn at first but the game was clearly made for controller and now that ive embraced it im way better...and i have a te2+ im using a dual shock right now but i got a hori fighting comander on the way now
I’m having trouble with the manual combos
It just takes a little bit of dedicated practice, 30 minutes in training mode and you should have it all memorized and be comfortable with it!
DotoDoya thank you I hope to see lots of videos when the game releases!
Will do, thanks for the support!
This dude is not screaming "we tech those" times were different
Very true, thanks for the comment!
Any special settings for Hori FC? Your button layout?:)
I have tag outs set to the right trigger and right bumper. i have vanish set to the left trigger. I have grab set to the rb button at the top left and i have super dash set to the top right.
Super dash top right? So XYAB are attacks, RB is Dragon Rush and RT is Superdash?
Yes, I'm thinking of perhaps setting RB and RT as assist keys and instead using using the X+Y and A+B to do dragon rush and super dash instead. I'm also thinking of maybe changing left and right triggers (RST and L) to be assists.
I think im gonna switch to keyboard, since its pretty hard to dash on my gc controller.
I wish they had a flick dash option, where if you flick your stick you would dash, and if you moved slowly, you would walk.
The best Dbfz players plays with a PS4 controller.
I buyed a 8BitDo Arcade Stick and omg gameplay is so much better. :)
I have a Xbox One Controller and I get trouble from the D-Pad, sometimes I try to do a kamehameha as goku, but then it just shoots a little ki blast and also when I use a super kamehameha, it normally just makes me do a combo rush
I play with a fightstick, but highly recommend controller. Its easier to move using a controller. Less range in motion
Keyboard if you're a kool Kat
am i strange for preferring dual joy con for this game? the 4 directional buttons make it so much easier for me over a d-pad/stick.
Sorry for the stupid long reply, but I hope this helps.
i tried a ps4 controller and xbox one controller, (my friend's) mad catz fightstick and out of all of 'em
I prefer my keyboard, i shit you not. I much rather use my keyboard, my reason is that the movement is much more natural for me with the wasd setup
(planning to get the mixbox)
super jumps are very difficult to make
I feel you mate, but I use one joycon and still do better than PS4
I just switched over to Arcade Stick from controller. My hands are so outrageously sweaty after a few matches on a controller that I would constantly Mia input with the controller. Switched for more precision and much less moisture lol.
I can't imagine using an arcade stick, heck even using a joystick for fighting games is insane to me, I need a good D-pad, so the ps4 controller has my number.
Only problem being 9 jumps for bnb combos
How did you setup the ps4 controller
Set up? I didn't. I used the default setup.
It can be had for a cheap price on PS4, I prefer the switch Pro control to the PS4 control though.
can u use any controller for the game? does it have to be like a ps4 controller or like xbox can i use sum like a ps2
3:34 What's not to like tho it's got fatalities.
I feel like the Xbox d pad it weird because of the middle part and it makes it weird for blocking and doing ex moves or level 1s and 3s It may be because I’ve only got 100 hours but I end up supper dashing sometimes instead of doing a level 1 or 3
Man I love jiggling my joy stick
won't it be hard to input some moves via d-pad? like those uniques which you have to perform circular motion. what's your thought on that? personally i use d-pad because i can perform dashes easily with button press rather than analog tilts. thats why i have a hard time playing with control system other than tekken (those with QCF's etc) in DBFZ i tried to use only the analog stick but dashes are hard for me, making my moves very limited. although i managed to switch between pad and analog on the fly but that is tiring..
Vipera217
In DBFZ you will almost exclusively use quarter circle motions (and half-circles if you want to tag into a super without the active character using a super first); and that motion isn't too challenging to pull off on a D-pad, unlike more complicated motions (looking at you DP). With a bit of practice you should have little trouble pulling off the specials and supers.
My thumb hurts so much from doing quarter circles in dpad. It's my first figthing game too
For controllers. get a Hori FC5 Fighting Commander 5 or a Sega Saturn USB. those two are the best pads for fighting games imo
I can do quarters and medium circles fine but I'm having trouble double dashing while using my xbox stick and it is hard for e to do an air dash
When I play with a stick my arm gets tired will that stop when I'm used to a stick?
I genuinely want this answered but I suppose that's better than a tired ass thumb.
Unfortunately, we never get any at our stores, and when we do I never have the money to buy one.
backbone+ remote play its really fun for me also dragon ball where every i go
So I do agree you should get quality but with fighterz it has all controllers in mind and works really well with even cheap fightsticks.
It's what I plan to do since I haven't had a stick in a long time
I play all of my fighting games with a fight stick. I like to have all of my buttons laid out for me and using my thumb to do motions hurts.
If thats your issues than a stick would be perfect for you! You can easily hold it wine glass style!
im gonna take your advice and invest in a good one since i used to beat the hell out of them at the arcades. I was always on the Mortal Kombat and Nfl Blitz cabinets :)
Same here! My stick was costly, but I thinks its paid for itself with how long I've had it!
If you guys want a cheap good fight stick look at the f-500 It's only $90 it works well and it's very customizable
@dotoclips you should do a video of the journey of Dotos intros
@DotoDoya
Can you play with mouse and keyboard?
you can! I've never been good at it but some people sweat that they like it even more than controller!
DotoDoya What controller you play dragon ball fighterz
D-Pad on Dualschok for defense is a disaster.... impossible for to Switch from crouching gard to standing gard..
As someone with a wealth of experience in many controller types, I honestly feel an arcade stick offers a higher level of precision.
