I am not disappointed with Day getting his sight back. If you look at part 4 as an epilogue to the main story. The love story of Mhok and Day concluded in part 3. Regardless of Day’s vision they loved each other and were happy. If you think that Day seeing again is basically icing on the cake. The main point of this story is still Day and Mhok’s love with disability representation secondary in the story. Mhok didn’t care if Day was blind or not. Also by part 4 Day had achieved and overcome everything that blindness put in his way to have a happy life. For me him getting his sight back does not impinge or water down the main aspects of this beautiful story.
I totally agree with you and I don’t know why they can’t accept that Day wants to see clearly and spend more time to explore more with Mhok than being blind.
And yes the cornea transplants are common. I think this series meant alot to me because my mother passed in 2021 and was an organ donor. Her corneas were donated to an elderly man and I'm sure it's a blessing for people hopeful in getting sight back. This series is in my top favs and Paof and the crew and cast made an epic series❤
Esse discurso do final onde ele fala de Dilema representa a trajetória dele. No momento do acidente ele não sabia o que fazer e se viu perdido, aos poucos isso foi mudando com a chegada do Mhok e etc. Por isso mostraram ele fazendo coisas que já fazia quando era cego, tipo alimentar os peixes, correr na maratona, sair com Mhok e etc. Concordo que poderia ter usado outras palavras mas ainda assim da pra entender... E sobre o propósito da série, é sobre ESPERANÇA e segunda chance, acho que isso foi muito bem representado desde o começo, não foi algo que jogaram do nada na história, esse episódio inclusive falou muito sobre isso, o próprio nome da livraria de Day era esperança.. Inclusive ele conquista tudo que queria antes mesmo de recuperar a visão, isso já responde tudo. I totally agree everything you said on this series Day can see things clearly and had a life on it so they end up the series that Day can see everything and have a lifetime spent with Mhok… I think the writers used the blindness to teach us what life can offer just like day he chose to see things clearly because he wanted to see he’s boyfriend face clearly.
I think some people misunderstood the "win the lottery with the 1% chance", people understood it as the donation and procedure themselves was the 1% chance, but I think it was maybe a mistranslation or a poor wording, because Thai language works a lot with the context to understand what the other people are talking about, and here Day was, to my understanding, referring to the fact that there were a 1% chance of the transplant not working and he was that 1%. I don't believe the intend was that there was only a 1% chance of the transplant working. Day has also been very clear from the beginning that he wanted the surgery, that doesn't affect the fact that he accepted his blindness still and moved forward with his life and yet still hoping to get the donation at some point. He made the best of his life as a blind man during the time he was blind. I don't agree with Bryan saying that the ending diminishes the meaning of the show, like the fact that Day gets his sight back is not an happy ending, he was happy while being blind for almost 4 years in total, and anybody in his position would have taken the donation, he didn't lose hope and still lived a happy productive life. As viewers we tend to take our expectations and use that as the absolute truth instead of looking at the story in from of us. It's selfish of us saying that we didn't want him to get his sight back just to content us. You guys talked about representation and what was the show trying to represent exactly, to me it's simple, besides the gay story it's the story of a blind man. Just the fact that there is a blind main character is representation because we don't see that in any shows. P. Aof gave us a deaf person in Moonlight Chicken and with Last Twilight a blind person, this is representation by itself, and like you said not all disabilities are permanent, and yet it doesn't make Day any less disabled and less worth representing. I agree with Claudia, the show would have gained to have one or two more episodes to explore the trauma further especially for Mhok, I feel that his own trauma was not as important as Day and didn't deserve the same attention. He's the one without a support group and yet he's expected to overcome his trauma by himself. They could have taken out August storyline and take that time to explore his trauma further. I don't agree with your GMMTV comment not providing good endings, GMMTV is probably the company that helped elevated the BL genre in Thailand and in Asia, it set the mark very high for any other production companies. It's probably because of them that we had KinnPorsche or The Sign, they stepped up their game and now the industry is aligning with them to offer and elevate the overall quality. Not everything is perfect and some things fall short for sure, but still it would be a sad world without GMMTV. Let's also not forget that GMMTV is evolving according of the Thai society it's a lot better to normalize gay relationships for better acceptance slowly with happy endings than the opposite.
I love to hear other people analysis and thoughts on the show. And i agree with what you said. As a viewer, i was disappointed that Day gained his sight back but i also dont feel like im allowed to be angry about it. I was so happy when he got it back…. I just felt that the execution was iffy, day got his vision back on the last part of the last episode. It made me happy, but it also didnt bring much to the story (to me). Which is why i questionned the show with: what did it bring to the show/what was the point? Because i felt like this show in general gave people hope that even with a disability, they deserve to be happy and loved. The gaining of the sight back wasn’t necessary for us to understand the message. I still love the show and the message about disability, that theres no such thing as being normal, we are all just human beings. As for gmmtv endings, they are an amazing company, and they did pave the way. I still believe that the thing they struggle with the most, is their endings. i really enjoyed your discussion at the end! agree with you guys on most points. it's honestly kind of devastating how much this entire last episode bothered me considering that i absolutely adore the rest of the show, it was easily 10/10 for me up until the last two episodes, and especially episode 12. think about day and mhok's last conflict that led to them breaking up for three years: it was about the line between pity and genuine care (the hill I'm willing to die on is that mhok wasn't pitying day and wasn't in the wrong: that was a trauma response and he deserved as much support as day did; the fact that he had to grovel for forgiveness in this last ep really doesn't sit right with me) and the fact that mhok had trouble transitioning from the role of a caretaker to one of a boyfriend. a good dilemma that interabled couples might face, except they decided to not explore it at all because day gets eyesight back IMMEDIATELY after they get back together. i just keep thinking how much more impactful it would've been if instead they showed them two navigating their relationship as an interabled couple. like wouldn't that have been some great and RARE representation? throwing in that surgery last minute really didn't do anything meaningful for the narrative and created this weird disconnect with the rest of the show. I'm with you guys on that i also don't understand why it was needed at all - he already had his happy ending in having a successful life and loving family and relationship.
(as for elise's question at the end: I'm obsessed with mountains so my last twilight would also probably be a mountain top view, preferably with my two long distance best friends by my side
It’s clearly stated in the series that he’s mom was trying to get a eye donation even the ep. 12 and Day choose to undergo an eye operation coz he doesn’t want to be blind for ever and that’s why he always hope that he can see again.
(I hope i didnt miscommunicate any of my thoughts bcuz i have a hard time articulating my thoughts) Personally, i agree with the girls in this, i dont really have a right to be angry in this but ofc we can be disappointed as viewers... i love this show regardless of the ending, Even when the surgery took place for the first time, i didnt mind either of the 2 possibilities and I'm still neutral. I dont think any meaning in the show 'diminished' for me honestly.... Now about the very 'controversial' part with Day's speech in the end, there was translational error i heard but regardless, I thought it meant the struggles Day went through when he went blind, we see how difficult this journey was for him so him saying that it was one of the worst pages of his book made sense... idk how it's ableist at all... he suffered a lot, isolated himself away frm his friends and family and his self-esteem and confidence was butchered. The word 'normal', to me, meant that Day couldn't do everyday things other people could, which is true, he didnt wish to leave his house, go eat out with people , get his degree etc and he felt lost and was very unhappy which is obvsly why he hung on to that donation so tightly in the beginning This is something I saw on twitter... 'Acceptance doesn't mean you can't hope for a solution... day showed acceptance in this ep, he achieved everything he wanted to while being blind, he doesnt need to see to be happy but he also doesn't need to be blind to be happy... it's about his choice'... Him choosing to see doesn't undermine his journey one bit... that seems like a weird way to think(to me), the ending scene in ep 9 still remains powerful bcuz Day chose to see Mhok as his last image when he thought he will nvr see again... just bcuz he got his sight back doesnt mean those emotions they felt at that moment become any less... Im fine with people liking/disliking the ending but wht i hate to see is people attacking eo for their opinions (i mean whts new) and also starting to hate the entire series all of a sudden... i agree that the last ep had some flaws, I wanted to see more of Mhok's healing and handling of the breakup situation but the the series as a whole was incredibly beautiful in every way possible... and I loved the journey it took me on, i loved all the emotions we collectively felt, this series was so heartwarming(abd also heart breaking lol) MhokDay will remain in my heart for a long time... I hope all the hate calms down after a while bcuz it's getting overwhelming, i had to disable all my social media and felt too scared to watch reactions lol Also lol i agree we can just pretend part 4 doesnt exist if ppl hate it so much If im being honest, idk wht my last twilight would be, i dont have any close friends or a good relationship with my family, pet or anything at all... this sounds depressing af lol, maybe I'll come up with something after a while then I'll update hehe

Those photos they took are going to be part of the boxset! I ordered the boxset and Days tshirt. They also have Days cologne on there💕🫰🫶. This series and ending were top tier! I loved this ending so much. It was creative and beautiful. I'm so happy Day got his sight back and all couples were building their family together.
