Old video but to clarify. The coolant passages are what are made larger in an "updated" cooler, not the oil passages. The coolant passages are the passages that clog, not the oil passages, so the coolant passages are made larger. The oil passages you were looking at between both the OEM and aftermarket are the same size, only the factory updated cooler was manufactured in a way where the entrance is exposed instead of shielded like the other two. The Update is in the plate spacing for the coolant side, the two pipes standing up on the cooler that uses a large o-ring are the coolant passages. Coolant goes in the front of the cooler from the water pump and out the back to the EGR cooler. So again the update is in the holes for the taller nipples on the cooler not in the holes you were looking in.
Man I’ve noticed it’s the one topic 6.0 owners we bicker about, oil cooler brands and experiences. I’m with you tho, eventually we all come back home to OEM, empty pockets and tail between our legs asking to make room at the bar stools
The reason there are differences between the OEM and after market versions, is because the OEM is Patented and the after market version is not leagally able to copy it to the exact same tolerance or they would get sued.
Good video. I have to do mine again. Third time. Where did u get yours? And At what point did you flush the engine before or after you put the new correct one in?
Late response, I back flushed before so I won’t clog the new one, I got it from Amazon OEM, I think it was like $ 350 or something like that. My truck so far so good as of today

Yep. I'd only buy the OEM one. Hopefully I won't need another one soon. 👍. Thx for the update!

Have you figured out what the "divet" on the oem cooler is or does?
