Had the pleasure of meeting Colin at the merch stand after the gig. Incredibly kind, thoughtful, and patient guy. The kind of person who shakes your hand with two hands, gracious.
i just heard this band for the first time tonight. my 40th birthday. jan 4, 2015. within the first 60 seconds iam in total agreeance with this man. i may have found a new band to delve into for awhile. brilliant!!!
I never thought to find this, thank you very much for posting it. Colin H. van Eeckhout is an amazing and creative vocalist, i´m so happy to hear his opinion about life and music, Amenra it´s definitely an atmospheric and immersive experience in the post metal world, is really beautiful...
What a great interview. He is generous with his words which doesn't always happen, but the interviewer also made a really good job on choosing the questions and the right moment to ask them. Thanks for this.
Humans easily judge people who are inclined towards such kind of music. And then there is Colin. I am just amazed by his perception of life and the way he IS living it. And damn! His tattoos! So meaningful. THE MOST BEAUTIFUL EYES I COULD LOOK INTO!
Hope you get the chance one day. The live-experience is a life-experience. Everytime we went to an Amenra-concert we left speechless for half an hour. It's a whole different level of emotions.
"We have to start playing post-rock or whatever to reach more mainstream crowd" xD Now this is some real hardcore alternative shit if he calls post-rock mainstream compared to them :P
That was a beautiful interview, Colin (and interviewer ;) ). Discovered Amenra this year and have listened and felt it very intensely, also in this corona mess. As i am what you might call a fundamentalist christian I was concerned in the beginning, that there might be blasphemic elements somewhere (don't speak flemish/french), but all the extreme emotions and visuals touch down deep. This interview has dispersed any doubts and I can embrace where you come from and I feel brotherhood there. I've had my 50 years now, I wish you have double (genetics or not)! Thank you, Amenra, for deep, bleeding and soulfull music! Thank you, indeed.
Great conversation. Ridiculous mic cover...feels like its mocking. But the one thing I take away from this interview is enlightenment. Positive, realistic, enlightenment. The thing I find funny is most of the fans I know (my friends) are so fucking negative, like they refuse to find anything positive in anything. I think they need to watch this interview to see a respected individual, who I think they think is a negative person, be so enlightened and positive. A truly singular band. Amazing. Inspiring. Thank you for this.
it could be Némelèndèlle.. although it's dubbed in from a live set, i mean it's quite short to follow the whole pattern.. ddo not bother, just get on their channel and play that great healing noise as much as you still can..
How do you know there is. There is and you can find it. Not religion. There is a time limit to find it. Will not happen if you don't listen to yourself. No demons like religions. Its not what you think, that thing called god. ra, amen. Its none of that and not what you think.

Can you post bands that have a power based sound rather than fast. I am new to this but prefer slower power style.
Colin is one of the most sincere artists that stands out there. It was a pleasure to meet you, stay true.

Please come to the states. We need to be immersed in your music in person.

xD Now this is some real hardcore alternative shit if he calls post-rock mainstream compared to them :P
+Adam Becza eits was on jimmy kimmel
+Rino Pshighco you're right, there are some exceptions, but apart of those, post-rock is still massively unpopular genre, imo at least :p
Such a sweetheart.
This guy is cool. The music is very different ! Makes me scared sometimes. But also very good !!

Why did he say that he is no going to live more than 15-18 years? What disease his family had?
+Deleine C Cancer
I think it's just a superstition he has.
Nintendodo64 So then why 6 members of his family dead at the same year? It must be something more than a superstition I think...
No male member of his family has lived past 50. Doesnt mean he wont but he calculates his time as that.
