- Ahmad Shah Abdali fought the Maratha Empire in the 3rd battle of Panipat in 1761. The Marathas were soundly defeated. Maratha peshwa Balaji Baji Rao lost his son and cousin in this battle. This decisive battle put Punjab in the hands of the Afghans. But this battle started a new struggle for Punjab between Sikhs and Afghans.

ہر باجگزار علاقے سے بادشاہ اپنی مہمات کے لئے ہر وقت فوج طلب کرسکتا تھا اور قلات کے نصیر خان کو احمد شاہ نے اسکی ماں کی سفارش پر لگایا تھا اور اسکی جان کی بخشش بھی کی تھی۔
یہی دستور تھا باجگزاری کا اور اس جنگ میں میں براہوی اور بلوچ دونوں کی تعداد 250 سے زیادہ بلکل بھی نہیں تھی 95 فیصد فوج افغان تھی۔

In 3rd battle of Panipat despite the defeat marathas inflicted mortal blow to Durrani empire which collapsed immediately after this battle. So marathas were reason of fall of 3 big islamic empires of india and Afghanistan. Marathas and Pathaans both came from mountainous regions which are hard to rule and govern for non native powers. So natives always prove superior as they have advantage of geography which they can leverage by engaging in guerrilla warfare in those mountains, valleys and forts built on them.
