Man Brandon it is so cool to watch someone paint like that. My neighbor was a good artist but he wouldn't show me things like that, I had to like hangout and hope he would paint something and watch him. Thank you.
See, that's what I love about spray paint art. One second it looks like a bunch of paint was dumped onto the paper, then after one or two details it looks gorgeous
Whenever I see an artist making a picture I see whatever it is before they even finish and I'm like "Awwww that's so good." Even at the beginning when he just started spraying the base.
That is so awesome! I can't wait to get started on one myself! Did you use all gloss spray paint? And what material are you painting on? I think I'm going to use canvas if that will work.
Generally speaking, gloss sprays are the best. You might be able to get away with using a semi-gloss. And personally, I use poster board and paint on the glossy side of it so that it doesn't absorb the paint. Hope it helps!
Usually gloss, semi gloss, and matte paints won't blend well together and they sometimes form a film like finish that has a white hue to it which often times, in my experience ruins the painting
Hi Brandon, I'm a big fan of your work and your tutorials, give good tips, and your teachings are difficult to follow. What bring me to to comment is, I'm experiencing runny paint. when I spray my black on a surface it comes out semi clear o.O I shake the hell out of it but it still comes out semi clear, do you know what could be my issue ? I use Krylon paints, but I don't think the paint has anything to do with it, but could it though ?
don't use krylon. try good old rusto if anything. I've tried using krylon for splatter paint and every color is just insanely watered down. Of course I bought a bunch of cans at once so now I have a collection of uselessness -_- I guess it normally doesn't matter when painting lawn furniture or whatever the normal use is since you can just do a hundred coats, but when doing any sort of art you can't go back over the same thing ten times to build up a solid coat. I'm honestly not even sure if rusto is any good for this sort of thing since most of the things I've tried the paint doesn't come up nearly as easy as whatever paint they use, such as when I try and use crumpled news paper to create different effects. if you're serious about graffiti or spray paint art check out Molotow from Primo Art. They've got a ton of other urban art supplies: a whole assortment of ink and mops and other types of markers, paint, sketchbooks, all that stuff. unfortunately most art supply stores put street art in a different category of regular stuff so Michaels and the like don't sell good paint(not around the Philly area anyway)
Hey Brandon. Love this painting. What is that metal thing that your mixing your paints in? Does it keep the paint from drying? The mountains were hard for me because my paint kept drying-- so i had to keep adding paint.
AWESOME!! SO WISH YOU COULD PAINT THE RED ROCKY MOUNTAINS MIX WITH VARIOUS WHITE CLAY AMD BLACK MOUNTAINS HERE IN THE BACK YARD OF MY HOME IN LAS VEGS N.V. PERHAPS, I WILL TRY THIS EFFECT; FLOW~~~
Hi! Can anyone please help me? Edges of my black and white painting turns grey matte color. Why is it happening? Could it be because of paper? I used both sides gloss paper.
Where do you buy your Rustoleum?? I've tried at Wallmart and Lowes but I can't find any colors besides the basic stuff (white, blac, clear, blue, red, green, yellow, orange, brown) I want differant shades of these colors like the ones you have, and also some pinks and purples, but I can't find them anywhere. Spacepainter (Brandon McConnell)
Joseph Gerace I second that question and add on to ask how to stop my spay paint cans from sputtering paint. It makes it difficult to make more detailed images when small globs of paint fall on finished portions of the image.
Cygnus X-1 It depends on what type of cap your cans have. If they have the wide top (a wider cap typically in white) then your problem is that your not cleaning the caps after you Finnish painting each time. The paint will conglomerate inside the spray cap and will clog up your can, making the paint "sputter out" and not look good at all. If this is the case, I would suggest soaking the caps in a solvent such as acetone or turpentine. If this doesn't work you can just buy some extra cans of the colors that aren't working, and put the caps from then on your original cans. If you have cans with the smaller cap, then most likely your issue is that your finger is getting in the way of the paint when it comes out. Obviously this is an easy fix, just move your finger back on the cap.
Joseph Gerace I usually soak them in mineral spirits to break down the paint but I have this issue regardless. Incase you were wondering I use Rust-oleum Gloss with a comfort spray cap. Strangely enough my off brand small caps don't have this issue. Could it be because I leave the cans in a hot garage? Also thanks for the help.
Cygnus X-1 I don't think it really has anything to do with the temperature. I have t he same thing with the cmall caps as well, they dont clog up for me. I think this is because the fat caps are removable, and if you take a look the hole that the can fits into can easily let paint drip down, and as you spray a small ammount of paint is bound to do so. I eliminate this by simply cleaning each cap after a painting. I soak them a bit and just run water in them and it usually works.
I think it depends on the Walmart. I have over 30 different colors, all rusto, that I got pretty much all from Walmart and there is still probably at least 100 I don't have. Home depot also has a good selection. You'll probably have to find a big Walmart though since the other local Walmart only has a few base colors like black, white, red, blue, etc. since they have to use their space for other more popular items. lucky for me we have a giant Walmart and huge home depot right next to each other so if one doesn't have a color I need the other usually will! if it wouldn't be so expensive to ship I'd say just tell me what you need and I'll pick it up and make an eBay listing for you but it'd probably not be worth it.
iRiizZ X something i learned was not to paint in direct sunlight. that dries the paint so fast you wouldn't believe. i know its common sense but still somebody may not know this.
Heads up to anyone trying this, remember HE'S LEFT HANDED, so avoid flowing to the left if you are right hand dominant, and you're not god with your left hand!

If your wall is laying flat on the ground, or if you don't mind runs in the paint.. Need a horizintal surface for this,,,vertical surfaces it will just run off.

@@chriscarr959 have you ever tried Montana paints or 004 connect paints? They have some amazing colors
One question, when you put the highlights, did you wait for the paint (mountain shape) to dry and then put the highlights or no?
Hey Spacepainter, awesome job (again)!
I was just wondering if the same effect could be created on canvas?
Cheers, Ryacka
Great!! Thank you!
What is it you are painting on? It looks like a sheet of paper, but no way would paper put up with all that wet paint.
can i use photo paper for alternative? and what kind of spray paint should use?
For the snow could you use a brush?
Hey Brandon. Love this painting. What is that metal thing that your mixing your paints in? Does it keep the paint from drying? The mountains were hard for me because my paint kept drying-- so i had to keep adding paint.
Clear or Transparent spray , use it when you need to rewet the paint or sealing the paint when your finished
Muy bueno....!!
do all spray paints work like yours?
thanks mate
if i dont have light blue, can i use white?
because I am talking
can you tell me if acrylic. I have liquitax spray. it is de same
the problem is in the paper, has to be exactly that role if it does not work
and that surface is the best. Canvas, Wood, or paper
Beautyfull
Does he put paint on the pallet knife
Tanke you so mucchhhhh!!!!
Wow
can i use photo paper for alternative?
Amen
is there some kind of special paper for this thing? I surely wanna try it
Anything glossy will be perfect! Reg. paper will soak in too much of the paint too quickly!
i cant get rustoleum in city, what type of paint do i need to get?
The bottom clouds look more like fog to me and kinda almost seems like you didn't even need the cloud stencil for those clouds
How long can you use one spray can?
AWESOME!! SO WISH YOU COULD PAINT THE RED ROCKY MOUNTAINS MIX WITH VARIOUS WHITE CLAY AMD BLACK MOUNTAINS HERE IN THE BACK YARD OF MY HOME IN LAS VEGS N.V. PERHAPS, I WILL TRY THIS EFFECT; FLOW~~~
