    Regular Rustoleum is used here. The caps are the same as anyone would buy on the cans straight off of the shelf in the store. Brandon doesnt change his in this painting, if he ever does, and most Spray Artists of this nature don't. His posterboard looks to be 11x14, although you can use any size. Glossy posterboard is best, since it doesn't soak up the paint before it can be manipulated. In this case, mid to high grade posterboard with the glossy side up is best. The only trick to the mountains is the amount of paint used for the climate you live in and practice. I hope this explanation helps some of you out.

    @UrDanc3r the trick is not to over smear the water and go straight across, just takes a little practice.glad you liked :)

    @drummerjedediah yes there is, shake your cans for a few minutes each for best results, the paint wont be so watery this way. I didnt shake my white up very well and when I sprayed for the water, it just bled into the blue and didnt create the contrast I wanted.

    i truly envy the skill of all of these awesome spray artists i see on UA-cam, the things they do look so simple but after having a go myself i see how much effort they really must have put into learning the skill.

    @notemobutfeelemo thanks, it all depends on how dry and warm the weather is and how much paint u you used to make it. this one probably dried to the touch in 10-30 minutes. takes a day or so to be fully cured.

    @gadberry88 youll be ok, remember that cheap paint has less pigment and more thinner or whatever it is. makes it harder to layer the colors.

  • @spacepainter
    @spacepainter  12 років тому

    @BIGECRUNCH look around for a lid from something, or check a second hand store. those tin containers are cheap there and the lids from those are the best. also stove top covers works great. the sell them at wallmart.

    @JanGBlubb its poster board (2 words) if that helps, but I don't know sorry. if you paint your canvas with glossy white house paint and let it dry, you'll get that glossy surface you'll need to make these paintings better.

    EXCELLENT!! I appreciate the 'thinking out loud' aspect of the tutorial. The fact that you mention 'it doesnt take much paint' in the beginning, is probly a huge lesson for some. When i first started, my planets were goopy messes of paint due to a heavy hand. So thank you Brandon, for sharing your talents and skills with us. I would like to see some pallet knife techniques, trees, and the think process that goes with B&W paintings. Give me those and maybe someday youll be watching MY videos ;)
