Man I love you’re sense of making videos. Taking the negative comments or comments that want a change and making a whole video with an awesome tutorial structure to teach us how to make awesome vids from that. Keep it up man.
Stoked to hear this from you. My goal is always to share what I know and when I learn more, regardless of how I learned it. Plus it’s a new idea for a new video which is always welcomed. Thanks for watching! And for this comment.
I liked this a lot! I've just spent loads of money on luts, and they suck 😂 but, this video just goes to show you don't need them when you can do it like this. Great video, man!
love the chill atmosphere in the video! very insightful and informative. i gotta mention how brilliant the intro was from not only a creative aspect with the almost top down shot but how strategic it was in making the most easily skipped part of any video into one of the most visually engaging. great work again bro‼️
Thank you man. I find my average retention for videos is low due to my intros. So I’ve been trying to figure out how to keep them engaging. Especially for a video of this length.
@@Trentorials that’s interesting, poppy intros are always fun (and you can always skip them) so thats weird people see an intro and then dip right away. i find my retention dips towards the middle or just right before it.
Great video Trent! One recommendation I have is to use the Hue vs. Saturation tool in the Curves settings when you are color correcting. This tool allows you to individually adjust colors in your video that may be too saturated or desaturated. To use it, click the eyedropper tool next to the enable/disable button and click on the color you want to adjust. Then, adjust the middle dot on the graph, typically moving it up or down the Y axis.
Yes, hi. I am aware of the tool, and it’s helpful but it has it’s limitations and can easily be overdone and cause tearing; I always advise people against it as a first option
Glad to hear it. I actually have a very updated video of this, which I think is better. If you'd rather watch that one. But either way, thanks for watching and I appreciate the kind words.
i've been following your tutorials and i love your ability to come back to things you did in the past to add more elements to it or to take a different approach. very clean videos and good looking visuals !!
It's awesome to hear you say this. I just tried to continuously come back to things I didn't do as well as I'd like to have, and improve them. Constant progress, you know? Thanks for watching and for the nice words. I hope this helped.
yeaaaaaaay, love the video, love the approach, love the tutorial! however, it'd be really cool if you'd do a deep dive on color grading theory, on what does every module/setting mean, like a long form, idk 1 or 2 hour long walk through of your understanding of color grading. for example, spend 10 minutes on explaining what is contrast and saturation, how do they work together, what happens when you move one up or down, what are you looking at in the graphs and stuff
Maybe. That’ll be a huge video. Maybe I’ll make a members only video for that one! It’ll be comprehensive but super time consuming to make. Let me know what you guys think if anyone else sees this comment too. Thanks for watching the video Lukas.
This was super helpful! Question, once I have downloaded the grain overlay how do I save it to premiere pro...kind of elementary but I am new to this. I tried to apply it to my clip but it was 5 seconds and very short and I couldnt extend 😅.
You have to duplicate the clip, and then change the blending mode, so it looks good on top of your footage. I suggest right clicking a once you drag it in your timeline, making it nested and then in the nested sequence, duplicating the overlay for as long as you need it to last. Then just extending the nested sequence in your main timeline.
0:54 Just to note... there's a big difference between RAW and LOG footage. LOG is nothing but a picture profile... it's still compressed. RAW on the other hand is uncompressed footage. Almost nobody uses RAW video since file sizes are huge (unless fimlimng a high budget project). Awesome video.
You’re 100% correct. I tend to explain Log with that term but truthfully they’re not interchangeable and I should correct that. Thanks for the reminder and comment.
@@Trentorials thanks man! The truth is I have a request that maybe you can do it, I watched one video of you to lighting in a budget. Right now I’m working in a coffee shop making the content of social media, I have one light amarán 100d and one Chinese version of aputure mc ( that tiny rgb light). My question is that how I achieve high key lighting only with those lights, maybe you can help me with that, I know it has to be super diffuse, I tried bouncing the light to the ceiling but is not good, I don’t know, maybe you have a better understanding of that and how to achieve that high key lighting look. Thanks man
It’s hard to give you an exact answer since I don’t know your whole situation, what I can say, is that it doesn’t have to always be diffused, that is a preference you have to make. If you’re shooting wide, these lights are not great for that, they don’t have a great range. But since you have that Amran, I will get a globe diffusion, and put it on that
Really glad to hear it bro! Would love to see you stick around the channel! What was the main reason you subbed on this video, If you don’t mind me asking?!
could you link an example? the movie is shot on film. which in essence would have a film loo, meaning grain etc. which might be what you're talking about.
I do this for every single video I make. though for instance most videos where I teach, like this, the clip and lighting doesn't change so I only have to color correct one shot then apply it to all the cuts. but I do individually color grade each scene according to what story or feeling I try to evoke. still learning how to be better at it myself. and thank you for the kind words!
Thanks for the video! Is it a good idea to have a secondary colour-accurate monitor (such as an Asus ProArt) so you can see what your grade *actually* looks like? I've found that the 'small' preview in Premiere hides imperfections, etc. Thanks!
For sure. I actually have a better color grading tutorial dropping tomorrow😂😂 I’ve changed my workflow since this video and wanted to update it. Check that one out for sure if you feel you need help!
