- Superhit Urdu Ghazals of K.L. Saigal is an extraordinary collection of the great playback singer Kundan Lal Saigal, showcasing Hindi and Urdu Ghazals by the legend himself. KL Saigal originally belongs from Jammu and Kashmir. He later on worked as a railway timekeeper and also as a salesman for typewriters. These odd jobs allowed him to travel to many parts of the country. He grabbed so many experiences during his journey.
Ghazals were written by the Persian mystics and poets Rumi and Hafiz in 14th century, as well as Mirza Ghalib and Muhammad Iqbal both of whom wrote ghazals in Persian and Urdu. Through the influence of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe the ghazals became very popular in Germany during the 19th century. The Kashmiri-American poet Agha Shahid Ali was a proponent of the form, both in English and in other languages; he edited a volume of “Real Ghazals In English”.
This Compilation “KL Saigal's Memorable Ghazals” is a compilation of Hindi and Urdu Ghazals from this golden era. All of these charms are superhit Hindi and Urdu Ghazals of the maestro K.L. I can't hear the name of K.L.Saigal but today I hear his name in a sradhanjali video of Lata Mongasker so I have a curiosity to hear his songs . So I searched and get this video . But I was Shocked to hear his voice . What a strong voice he has ! Oh my god . From now I am a big fan of K.L.Saigal

S simba .Sehgal is not only a wonderful voice but it invokes nostalgia for me.To wonder what magic was woven around ghazals of Ghalib which fascinated my grandfather and father in the years gone by. I once visited a friend in Bombay in 1977.He too was a fan of Sehgal.I asked why .He said his ghazals invoke an Era when All Indians were Hindustanis without cultural barriers brought about by vested interests of the Political Elete.How true.By the way my family has not lived in India or Pakistan for more than a century.

I do not remember,but either ustad Abdu karim khan sahib OR faiyaz khan sahib once said that if KL Saigal was to sing Classsical songs, he would have become THE BEST of all classical singers. Can any one throw light onthis?
