At 3:40 noted Antei's younger but bigger brother Ruslan (An-124) behind him. Two greatest planes (one prop and one jet) at the same place at the same time. Lucky you! Thank you for this video.
Mishef - Ruslans are a common sight at LEJ, but together with an An-22 ... that's surely something special. Could only be beaten by adding the An-225 "Mriya". :)
I was not familiar with the An-22 and early impressions of it make me think of a Lockheed Super Constellation with the "dolphin" fuselage where the S-shape begins with nose down and ends with the tail up. The dual, rotating turboprops bring to mind the Tu-95. Given a slower top speed and slower cruising speed than the swept wing Tu-95, I expect the An-22 is quieter, although just about anything would be. Great job with this video - so clear and steady. Great sound too.
Thank you! Glad you like it. I never associated the massive An-22 and the slender, elegant Super Connie in any way, but you're right, there are similarities in fuselage design! Concerning the Tu-95, I never heard one running in real life, so I can't really compare the two either. The An-22 is rather loud anyway and from the descriptions I heard about the Tu-95's noise I would expect it to be even louder too. And how I would love to be able to film a Tu-95! :)
Bелике дякую! I did this in collaboration with some fellow plane spotters and seeing the An-22 live was a real blast! Since then it has visited Leipzig/Halle airport several times, but I'll never grow bored of it, it's just so different and impressive!!!
Thank you very much! I did my very best and the two fellow UA-camrs who provided their video material for me to use it here did the same, so we're all glad it shows!
Vielen Dank! :)
Thanks a lot! I'm so glad I was able to shoot this, because this An-22 was stored already and I was afraid I would never again have a chance to see one in the air!
Thanks a lot! Yes, an An-22 is one of the best and rarest types of aircraft to capture and there have been times when I thought I'd never have a chance to get one, because the plane featured here, was stored already. But then they reactivated it, so my friends and I were able to capture it. 😊
Vielen Dank! Mal sehen was draus wird :)
Vielen Dank! Bestimmt gibt's was Interessantes zu sehen! LEJ hat zwar nicht so ein hohes Verkehrsaufkommen wie CGN, aber der Frachtbereich gibt eigentlich immer was her. Ich habe Dir übrigens eine Nachricht geschickt.
ukrainian aircraft engineers? so there must be an ukrainian aircraft construction school... how many planes did ukraine manufacture before antonov moved from novosibirsk to kiev?
Hände hoch - How does that matter? Antonov moved (after just 6 years) to Kiev 66 years ago (in 1952)! How is it relevant in this context what happened more than six decades ago? Furthermore, have you ever wondered _why_ they moved in the first place?
The propellers keep rotating in the same direction, if that's what you mean. But the pitch of the propeller's blades is altered, with the result being the same: the propellers stop pushing the plane forward, but push back slowing the plane down instead. As for the moment in which this happens, I can only tell you that much: It's not done before the plane is safely on the ground, as you may know from jet airliners applying reverse thrust after touching down.
smasila - If a landing is smooth or not depends mostly on the conditions and the pilot, not so much on the plane, but you're right, this is a pretty smooth landing. :)
Well, I wouldn't quite agree. Partly because the An-22 is a Soviet era project and Antonov is headquartered in Ukraine and partly because planes like the A380 are certainly among "the best". But the An-22 is definitely a masterpiece!

I can barely hold my tears seeing this beauty, considering shes damaged now 😢😢
That's a hell of a beautiful cargo plane
Really nice to see this rare AN! Contra-rotating propellers are impressive. The information was great. Liked a lot and have a good week!
Tanks for watching, liking and commenting! Yes, the contra-rotating propellers are the one feature I love Antonov for! ;) And a good week to you too!
That and the tu95 are the most amazing looking machines. That is just so cool.
I love those counter rotating props
Rob Lowery - Same here! ☺️

It's one of the coolest video that I've seen with our "antey", thank you!

Beautiful montage, very well done. Thanks for posting.

Thanks for the video. I really enjoyed it, as well as the vision of that beauty beast :)
My pleasure. Glad you like it!
Awesome footage. Love the plane....
Thanks a lot! Same with me.
Tolle Bilder, danke fürs Teilen!
Vielen Dank! :)
Great video. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks a lot!
I'm so glad I was able to shoot this, because this An-22 was stored already and I was afraid I would never again have a chance to see one in the air!
Is it still flying?
Mudkow
Yes it is. They only reactivated it last year (2016), so I suppose there's demand for it.
Very good video i can see the whole plain very clear...
Thanks a lot! That's the reason we used 5 cameras, shooting from 4 different angles: To show the whole plane from as many perspectives as possible.
Great video!, and great catch, as well!

Klasse Video mit den verschiedenen Perspektiven! Kompliment! Warum bauen wir nicht solche Flugzeuge!?!? ;-))

KNIGHT FLIGHT VIDEO
Danke. Wir werden uns Mühe geben. :)
Vielen Dank!
Bestimmt gibt's was Interessantes zu sehen! LEJ hat zwar nicht so ein hohes Verkehrsaufkommen wie CGN, aber der Frachtbereich gibt eigentlich immer was her.
Ich habe Dir übrigens eine Nachricht geschickt.
Sehr beeindruckendes Video!Klasse gemacht!Daumen hoch!Gruss inselvideo!
Vielen Dank! Die An-22 ist auch ein ziemlicher Brocken.
Ach ja: Gesundes Neues Jahr! :)
Vielen Dank!
That's hell of a turboprop beast
tolle Zusammenstellung 🖒 wat ein ein sound ... immer wieder faszinierend ... big like
Vielen Dank!
Vielen Dank! Na dann drücke ich Dir die Daumen. Die Mühle ist schon was besonderes.
Great catch, Liked!
Thanks for liking, commenting and subscribing! The An-22 is just such an extraordinary airplane ... and that sound ... just a dream! :)
Ukrainian aircraft engineers were the best: An22, An124, and An225, all record breakers!
In addition, their smaller planes, like An-12 or An-26, may not be as impressive, but they're rugged and reliable workhorses!
ukrainian aircraft engineers? so there must be an ukrainian aircraft construction school...

Ukrainian, haha, funny...
Excellent video! Liked and subbed to your channel! Cheers! ;)
István Bálint - Thanks! Glad you like it!
Das ist fantastisch! :)
Vielen Dank!
Thanks a lot!
Nice video
Nice Footage !Liked a Lot !
Thanks! Glad you like it!
👍!
... e sem música de fundo! MUITO BOM!
Aldo Ghisolfi - Obrigado! The planes engines are music enough. :)
LG Daniel

When the An-22 lands do the propellers reverse their spin to help stop the plane? When does it happen?
The propellers keep rotating in the same direction, if that's what you mean. But the pitch of the propeller's blades is altered, with the result being the same: the propellers stop pushing the plane forward, but push back slowing the plane down instead.
As for the moment in which this happens, I can only tell you that much: It's not done before the plane is safely on the ground, as you may know from jet airliners applying reverse thrust after touching down.
That could have been the smoothest landing ever. Boeing and Airbus take note.
smasila - If a landing is smooth or not depends mostly on the conditions and the pilot, not so much on the plane, but you're right, this is a pretty smooth landing. :)
sehr cool gemacht
Vielen Dank!
Super!
Wonderful!!!! R
The best aicraft...compliments!!!!
Thanks a lot! Glad you like it.
***** Thanks dear
😄😄🍀🍀🌷🌷❤️
Sabrina Therry beautiful Russian engine
Ukraine
Vlad Dracula i👍👍👍😁😁😁😁🙋🙋💞
geile aufnahmen
Vielen Dank!
Awesome
Thank you!
Maravilhoso avião.
Same sound of the Tupolev Tu-114
No surprise. 😉 They both use the same engines (basically).
it looks right
определенно - definitely!
🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦💪Glory to Ukraine!!
Beautiful face
Definitely! Seen from the side, the front section looks somewhat ugly, but head-on, it has this smile on its face.
How sad that this country is betrayed over and over.
You mean Ukraine?

antovon an 22 Russia 🎉🎉🎉🎉
More Ukraine than Russia, but in fact _Soviet Union_ .
russians make the best aircraft
