Also, have you considered adding Sticher's Supplier? It's pretty dead on its own but Breach + Culling the Weak + Sticher's Supplier is an easy way to go through your deck while netting black mana.
I don’t even play CEDH (yet), but there’s a lot of good info in this episode. Just listening to you guys talk through your choices and the sample hands at the end can be helpful for new brewers.
Summoner's pact, dryad arbor, natural order, reanimate. Fetch dryad, sac to order, put Witherbloom in play. A lot of mana production and other ways to surprise opponents. Love this type of content. Very fun
Going a different route, Reyhan could potential add to the power matters theme. By sacrificing reyhan first you can put the counter onto dargo, then potentially have 10 mana with bunt offering/sacrifice, draw ten cards with life’s legacy/greater good, ten treasures with ruthless technomancer. Might be better on the casual side, but maybe something to look into!
god i love this podcast, switching from paper magic to playing on tabletop with my group has allowed us to explore CEDH. thanks to these guys i am not completely lost.
Slimefoot and Squee is a pretty sweet deck. You avoid commander tax with his reanimate, and also really good with Dockside. Alter of Dementia is sweet to help flip your deck over. There's some loop with Pitiless Plunderer. You play a side Reanimator strategy too.
OH SHIT, that "this might be what i put together for chicago" was so huge in reminding me to bring a cedh deck to chicago in case i want to try playing more cedh. THANK YOU FORE THE REMINDER
Keep that seven with turn 1 fetch, carpet of flowers and you can noxious the land to top if no islands show up for turn 2 dockside into wheel, or you can save noxious to wheel into dockside a second time from a sac outlet if you're a little lucky
I'll be at MTG Chicago too! I'm new to cEDH, how does it typically work at these events? Are there impromptu tourneys? I was going to do the 1 sanctioned cEDH event but there are no proxies :(
something ive been liking in my r/g decks is playing twinflame, because it combos with eternal witness and dockside if the treasure count is 5. it just makes infinite attacks and infinite mana if you make 6 or more treasures.
I love this cEDH deck building episodes. Perhaps y'all could do one for casual one of these days? I'm curious to see the thought process. Great episode, nonetheless.
I've found good success with Tevesh-Tana Turbo Naus. It's super explosive with a solid midrange game in cEDH. Both commanders create value sacrifice fodder and let you go crazy with more lines than Reyhan offers. Jund is strong AF and Reyhan-Rog makes good immediate sacrifice fodder/ free spells but going off with Rog as sacrifice fodder draws out all the counters and ends up emptying opponents from responses and the next person gets a free pass. Just slow enough to get started after a Rhystic or Mystic draws out the counters often gets you there once some interaction is spent.
Also- Food chain is a consideration I would have for this deck. It can come online quick, is turned online by wheeling really easily, and can really explode in these colors in particular. Also I think Reyhan has combo potential with Grist and Soul cauldron since you're running Emergence Zone. Considering Grist by itself is a killspell, and tutorable, but more importantly a win piece maybe it has legs here? 🤔 Probably too slow for how fast the deck wants to go, though
On the subject of the Veils Summer and Autumn, what're your thoughts on Guttural Response? I know it's *literally* just a counterspell for counterspells but being a third Blast/Veil in that sense isn't too bad - at least in casual, which is why I'm curious on how it looks to cedh players
Agatha soul cauldron with reyan is actually pretty neat imho You can get something cool like turning the just removed opposition agent on your opponents or something
i feel like there should had been a podcast that goes into discussing the different options and potentially just doing Golgari or Rakdos or Gruul. Prossh is a very powerful commander option, in a different way. Being able to make use of Impact Tremur effects. Korvold needs other things in play to take advantage of, and is only powerful because "treasures" to such a point i feel he's one of the few options that would want/need Bootleggers Stash like that card was made for Korvold.
So I'd like to put a vote in for summoners pact and demonic consultation. Pact finds part of your wither combo, or atleast becomes a green mana through spirit guide. If it's go fast or lose, it's hard to beat free tutors. As for demonic consult, you guys are on 2 card combos that win that turn. It doesn't matter if you Exile your whole deck. Just as long as it isn't in top 6.
Honestly your first hand was probably the best hand. T1 misty - fetch, cast rog, cast carpet, then noxious revival your misty before your T2. T2 misty - fetch, have 3 mana from lands and carpet. You can dockside or wheel or both at that point and if from there.
I know it's a bit slow in some ways, but also you are already playing a fair few key pieces that Belbe plays, you could then main phase two get 6 colourless mana from everyone getting pinged potentially, ad naus from there? Just thinking it could be another line or does that fall into the more cute section over competitive section in cEDH? Awesome video as always
I love how the meta became so midrange, Reyhan has become a prevalent partner in cEDH. Agatha's soul cauldron definitely helps, but I've seen Kraum Reyhan more and more recently
Yall, I've probably said this before, but could you IMAGINE how bad ass Etali would be as a Jund commander? Like, you'd get access to Burnt Offering, Culling Ritual, Rain of Filth, Bubbling Muk, ALL of the best tutors, an additional win condition with Praetor's Grasp and Witherbloom, AND you'd have better card advantage engines with more interactive pieces like Bowmasters and Opp Agent while ALSO getting Ad Nauseum - bro, they made my girl GREAT, but she could've been a GOD ❤
this thumbnail was crazy for me because I JUST put together a casual Rograkh + Reyhan deck. Though in paper I've been Reyhan + Tana more often, since I didn't wanna shell out for the Commander Free spells.
33:22 Play rograkh and phyrexian tower then sacrifice rograkh and ad two mana for one sol ring and tap it for two now play cabal ritual and you have 3 black and one colorless for one black play deathrite shaman for two play again rograkh and play the paradise mantel and equip it
I deeply enjoy how modern blue farm lists are playing necro and sometimes bolas's citadel and also am in the market to be a little different and go faster this meta. I'm loving this but I'm personally throwing together rog tev. Over kraum/tev and regular ol rog grixis it can play the fast rituals like grixis rog but goes brrrrrr and can threaten an ad naus, peer into the abyss and breach/past in flames. The lack of blue always hurts of course, but rog tev lists have been playing things like active volcano lately and I'm loving it. R elemental/pyroblast effects and the like are worst case "remove a kraum, kinnan, study or fish" for one red is busted and I'd not count out anything in that sect of partners piloted by a skilled turbo/midrange player. Love me a good scary deck.
Please guys try doing this as dargo instead of rog. Dargo getting pod/pattern/EE into razaketh is amazing. You can play dargo, get jLo, play dargo 3 more times, LED, Breach, Altar of dementia, win. You also have some amazing Hulk lines that can pop off pretty consistently on t2 and t3
Reyhan main here. No combo? Blade of selves on reyhan, attack, sac copies and make reyhan 21/21. Play phyrexian Devourer to exile your library or pass a lethal amount of counters to something else. Place 99 counters on a walking archive and pass the turn (e.g. By kicked Rite of replication), as long as reyhan can reapply a counter to a token creature, basri's luitenant can infinitely create a new token when you sac it.. Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord can instantly win you games with 40 power, and that's easy to get with reyhan. I can go on some more. And I don't believe reyhan is cedh level but it can get close.
To add, cloning reyhan conflicts the legend rule. 2 reyhans see 1 reyhan die, thus placing 6 counters on something else. A kicked Rite of replication means 6 reyhans see 5 die thus you can pass 30 triggers of 3 counters (90 total) to other targets.
I was kinda hoping after they brought up Agagtha's Soul Cauldron they would go into a Razaketh, The Foulblooded lines. Also you could do a Asmodeus The Archfiend line. Reyhan seems sweet!!!
Tymna rograk is so fucking sweet. I think having all the fast mana and advantage peices that rograk allows, is waaaaay better than the blue you get from kraum. It plays into an ad nauseum plan really well and the interaction/staxs you get in mardu is more than good enough to keep you in the game.
I will always be "Gruul+1" (Jund, Temur, and Naya) and the fact a PARTNER PAIR could be this dagnasty makes me happy. I'll probably brew up a budget version for High Power since proper cEDH is not plausible for me financially
Update: got my Fiance's Henzie deck, so now I have each of the Gruul+1 combos (admittedly all casual AF, but Henzie/Miirym/Jetmir are the decks I genuinely have the most fun playing). Now I can allow myself to brew outside the Gruul+1 range
How about an eternal witness instead of dosan? If dockside makes 5, you strive twin flame targeting e wit and dockside, resolves and you make 5 treasures and get twin flame back. Then you have infinite mana and infinite e-wits. E wit can be a win condition or a great recovery piece, also something to sack to your rituals or tutors in the mid game. Just a thought 🤷🏼♂️
@@CorneliusQvist I understand, what I’m saying is you’re already playing dockside and twin flame for acceleration. What does it matter to have a combo piece that does more than just combo if you need it to?
@@NickNicolay-ih4zi I think it matters quite a lot in cEDH to waste a slot on a card that is only useful in the deck in that one magical christmas land scenario you described (you will literally never just randomly have those three cards in hand and you would never tutor for the E Wit bc your other lines are better). In any other situation the card is pretty much dead or just very inefficient compared to how fast this deck is trying to go. Remember, it’s easy to put in new cards, but to do that, you gotta cut something. So what would you cut for it? Also, have you considered adding Sticher's Supplier? It's pretty dead on its own but Breach + Culling the Weak + Sticher's Supplier is an easy way to go through your deck while netting black mana.
Thanks for the heads up!
It is also extra sacrifice fodder for cards like culling the weak when you aren't comboing so it isn't completely dead.
