Aggregation of Gray Reef Sharks (Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos) - Kona, Hawaii - Baby Grey Sharks!!

  • I don't get to dive this site often enough! It is one of the very few places I haven't attempted to get to from shore as the current is normally ripping through this area making it very risky to do on my normal paddle-board dive adventures (never say never though!). This site is home to a gray reef shark nursery where lots of juvenile grey sharks aggregate. The topside conditions were beautiful with minimal current present, however the visibility on this dive was awful for some unknown reason. Even with the snowstorm of particulates in the water creating reduced visibility, we had an amazing dive with lots of sharks!

      I didn’t film any coral in this video, but there are some big healthy antler corals here. The sharks aggregate in a canyon formed from the old lava flow in 1801.
