Bushiroad is trying to kill Cardfight!! Vanguard!

- This past english conference has left me with a sour taste in my mouth and I'm not the only one who feels like this...
If you want to hear someone else's take with the Strategy Presentation go watch @zenahreon 's video on it.
Vid: • Bushiroad Broke Me...
The issue with vanguard is almost exactly the same as duel masters was in the west. Bushi for whatever reason treats its western audience the same as the eastern audience. They are however two different markets that need two different approaches. Bushi needs to give the English branch more autonomy or the English branch needs to push for more autonomy because I agree with your prediction that they are thinking about no longer supporting premium. I think that would be a huge mistake especially if they are only looking at jp tournament data to make that choice.
I am a megacolony main and I completely agree with the take on Gredora
This is a really bad ban list, hitting shiranui is good, tbh if they designed their product better then this wouldn't be a problem but anwyays..hitting Shojodoji does nothing, the deck can barely squeak out a win without luck against the meta decks, this just kills the viability for it to be meta in this format.
Premium? They were heading in the right direction..for a few seconds. Hitting it to 2 does help a lot as Gredora is a very grindy deck and most games kill you on second stride anyways, if you play the long game then its good..but why hit just gredora and leave the rest? Crest decks are a major concern, they need an errata for futureproofing..if they just added this text as a cost:
[Reveal a grade 3 Shiranui Oboro from the Ride Deck]
That would solve the issue in premium..as for katrina well the participation prize is a supply set dedicated to it in premium worlds so thats out of the window.
Bushiroad cannot afford to keep doing this and need to tread carefully because there is serious competition right now in TCG, I feel like they're so stuck in their old ways (all the more reason to think this is Bushiroad JP's fault) that they will lose players to One Piece and the like. If they kill premium? 30-40% of the players MINIMUM will leave vanguard.
Soooo are people just now realising bushiroad is a bad company? Bushiroad was making bad decisions around the end of G into V series then genuinely once overdress started it was amazing, then by the time overdress set 5 came around you could see bushi falling off again. I sold out of vanguard before Divinez but mainly stick around for the anime since I started all the way back in 2011
See, I've always known but I still enjoy VG for the gameplay. Especially in premium where's there's a lot of interactions you don't get in standard.
the first 4 (or 5?) sets for D series, Bushi had an influential consultant who is praised as the saviour of Shadowverse. his influence could be felt in Vanguard as some vanguard decks even mimicked Shadowverse (eg Alestiel is resonance from Portalcraft). after he left, stuff indeed went downhill quickly
Product and promos have really narrowed down what I've bothered with.
Pretty much if it doesn't support what decks I got I won't bother.
I can’t believe they killed their best game, Buddyfight, just to drag Vanguard down into the depths too
Buddyfight became a card game where every deck is an OTK, even FTK. the game killed itself short of a full reboot. I say that when I wanted to play Magic World, Great Fate Frozen Stars, Gavrail, Divine Guardians... only to be utterly massacred turn 1 despite 2 Holy Grail in hand piloting Gavrail, and then got told the deck I fought was meme tier garbage
I then asked people with significant experience in Buddyfight and they explained to me how every deck can either FTK or can't keep up, straight up
@ Buddyfight is an insane power level game but it’s still fun. There are legitimate FTK decks and they aren’t even that good lmao.
Play a single defense spell or just play a flag that starts with over 10 life like Dragon Ein and the FTK decks crumple since they have no other game plan.
We need to band together and do something about it. But people are lazy
Yea every years always theres content like this, bushiroad kill vanguard bla bla bla but vanguard not dead until now😂😂
Just finished listening the whole video. Definitely understand your frustrations. I think these past few years things have been building up with frustration mainly with Premium.
Long time players like us really do want the game to grow and have it fun/accessible to all types of players. Vanguard feels different from 10 years ago.
Hoping to see if anything else comes from this because it seems even more of the community isn't happy this time around.
I'm going to sleep on it tonight and make my video tomorrow.
I do resonate with a lot of your sentiments amigo.
Saying that they are killing off Vanguard is definitely overkill seeing how majority of players play standard and started playing with the second reboot. However, I do agree that they will potentially lose a big chunk of the playerbase killing/ruining premium
Do you think the player base has more prem players than standard? If prem players quit the game, would it really effect the game? Curious to what your thoughts are regarding this.
@LostAntiHero I already said I think it would affect the game if premium players quit. But you have to take into consideration that not every premium player would quit. And yes I think most people play standard because it has easier entry points, it's technically cheaper, and just has more support
@@paologrisanti4627Well I asked if you think there are more prem players than standard, so basing off of what you consider which format has the higher count of player count, would it really have an impact? I feel like it'll be a numbers game to bushi, but then again that doesn't make sense if they shut down prem at events. There is always a good turn out for prem. *shrugs*
@LostAntiHero No there are more standard players imo, because like I said it has a cheaper entry point and it's easier to learn
Oh the bright side, dear days 2 in 2 days 😏 I actually sold all my cards last year. I only play with Proxies now. 😂this game is way too expensive. Bushiroad as a company is idiotic let’s be real here. But all these companies are greedy and incompetent
Saying that Bushi is killing vanguard is clickbate it’s mostly trying to kill off premium as they want to shift their attention to standard only every card game company have their good and bad maybe stop crying about it or just play yugioh and see how u like it there
As they should, I guess they want to market to younger audiences
The problem is, if standard's problems remain unaddressed and the west remains the "red-headed stepchild" even for their precious format, there's no longer premium to act as something as a palate cleanser if they axe it. That won't lead to growth, it'll just make people drop the game which works more towards killing it. So long term, I don't think the title is as clickbait as it seems.
@@Koofoo212 by a lot of people u mean those that play premium ? I’ve seen Japanese players and they don’t whine as much as western players and bushi usually caters more towards their country im sure even if premium shuts down there would still be players for standards even now there isn’t much for premium players packs wise and tourney wise and vanguard is still growing so i dont know how this dude came up with bushi killing vanguard especially when its their biggest seller im sure they have their plans
@@johnnypro8527 Did you ever think that they don't whine BECAUSE they are being catered to? It's almost like a self fulfilling prophecy. Additionally, the markets for JP and the West are different and should be handled as such. The frustrations come from the lack of that consideration. Finally, the constant complaining has only come about due to the lack of response from Bushi to legitimate problems occurring in the west for most of it's lifespan. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, so the only way to have things improve is to complain, go figure.
@ sucks for western players I guess wompwomp
even if they axe premium events will still be 2 days because of < WS and SVE, so i dont think its a matter of saving money on venues.
Now it can be because japan does not play premium and its not profitable to do a secluided release schedule for International, honestly here in Lisbon Portugal nobody plays premium and we mostly play WS for second day or just do tourism
I hate it. As someone who was against a lot of peoples hits (crests mainly) THIS WAS AWFUL. HIT. SOMETHING
If you think they didn't hit enough look at Yugioh's June 2020 banlist. As for the presentation it was bad with the exception of Skyride manga being announced and the Hatsune miku return to weis schwarz
My god at the very least Announce the physical Dear days 2 with the promo's Japan got, I'd pay 70 dollars for that
As for the crest g1 cards, Easiest way to fix the problem is have the text say "When this unit is placed from the ride deck by riding from"
But yah bushiroad needs to flesh the game out more outside the JP market otherwise it will die
In defense of the June 2020 list- that was the first format of full lockdowns, and Konami didn't really have data to go off of. Remote ycs events were not a thing yet, so the only events being unofficial ones held were on unsupported fan simulators, which Konami could not use for their data. Since they had nothing to go off, they just unbanned some cards that needed to go off the list anyway.
Comparing this to the recent CFV banlist seems a biiiiit of a reach.
As a CFV & WS both equally disappointed with ENG Bushiroad
I hate how only gredora was hit i think other decks should have been hit because in my opinion she's a necessary evil to keep other decks from running wild.
agreed
I think the gredora is fine since the whole point of the deck is to check the current top decks and now since it at 2 it just mean it will check those deck less
Bullshetroad strikes again 🎉🎉🎉
*insert Jiafei's Part of Your World here* it's frickin crazy how...uncaring Bushi has been. And apparently, they don't care too much about the West, which is crazy.
Prolly cuz u guys whine alot same as ygo players nothing satisfying u guys
The game mostly died in my country when overdress became a thing. We didn’t have tournaments because there isn’t enough players. We organised our own tournaments and prizes instead.
We focus on premium because we played before the reboots and to us it’s the best format because of skill expression. Last true support we had was in 2023. Overdress is designed to spite premium players. Most cards don’t work and can’t be used in the format that has all cards because of ride lines restrictions or energy.
Why did they even design crests like that? Only certain clans received one and it’s random like the overtrigger. I didn’t bother getting harmonics messiah as it felt like a waste of money (why was it so limited when every deck needs one?)
Dear days was a sham and now with dear days 2 it’s still behind the game, overpriced and missing 2 formats. They’ve had EX for V cards we know they could have had every card in the game on a single game to play online with other players as they include a limited vintage format with the first season. In addition to it being slow not skipping forced actions (why do I choose trigger power and crit when I have 1 unit?) No ban lists for so long the format hasn’t changed except for crest decks. And now with this joke.
ever since the rebooted the game for the 2nd time, i feel bushi just been trying to get away from older vanguard. The anime and game just hasnt have the same feeling as the g era felt. in the g era, they constantly supported old decks so people never felt left out. Now with standard they just want you to abandon your old deck to play the new mechanic. I thought the divine skill mechanic was a cool concept but its a mechanic you cant really splash into other decks. At least back in the day with stuff like break ride, legion and strides, you werent required to play the new decks to use the mechanic, you could use your old decks and just add a break ride g3 or a legion package or a g zone to like your crossride deck, which was something i really liked, even to the very end of g, they supported fricken musketeers, one of the first neo nectar decks. They didnt need to do that but they did. Cant really do that with divine g3s. If premium gets thrown out the window, i might end of up just not support the game anymore, at least buy new product, cause premium was the format that made me appreciate about vanguard and when removing it, i probably wouldnt had continued to play this game for the past 4 years when we got the 2nd reboot.
Doom posting is whats killing the game.
Wake up and realise bushiroad are stupid
The English side needs to be more on its own I feel as there's a very different meta here compared to in Asia. The restriction list, to me is lazy as there's more cards that should be getting hit such as Cerragaon. In Rezael decks due to how much cycling the deck has, I feel they should make it so they have to choose between either running Cerragaon or Nilberus. While Levidras is a very strong deck in the meta, the reason I don't see it being hit by restrictions or bans is the deck being super piece reliant and basically falls apart if it doesn't get them early on. For the promo in the manga, I feel that's them pulling a cash grab, like honestly, how many people are actually going to buy the manga for the reading purposes? No most people are just going to buy them all up just to get the card and then hog the rest to lord over peoples heads for high price trades. In terms of starter product, I 100% agree with you, I actually want them to make new starter product for each nation each being an archetype not played much but would be usable to start with and would be relevant even in current standard. Dragon Empire already has the manga deck but could get Ghandeeva as it's getting support in set 6, Keter could get Sorceress or Solrairon as both are still getting support, Brandt Gate with Rotovisor or Blue Deathstorm etc etc. These are just my thoughts though.
Yeah I don't play vanguard anymore(I play one piece). I stopped playing shortly before the energy gauge was introduced. I just check in every now to check in every now and then(hoping for a reboot to be honest). Prior to that I played vanguard since the beginning. . I can't get behind the high prices of staples and over triggers plus nations are not as good as clans imo when it comes to deck building(feel like you have less options when that shouldn't be the case. Kudos to you guys for continuing to play.
