The most hated civic generation? Why? (9th gen Si review)

- Today we are reviewing Ryans 2014 FBO Honda Civic Si. It’s pushing 223 horsepower to the wheels (through a etune) and this will be my first time driving this generation of si. It should be fun to see how it compares to my bone stock 8th gen civic si! Hope you enjoy! Have a great day!
Our 9th gen SI's are aging like fine wine and people are just starting to know how good they look 😎 hold onto em and keep em clean people 🤙
I personally like the look of the early 8th generation 0607 and 08 those are the best looking coupes...
Well said
@@kevinwhiting8391Hell yeah 🤙 I'm a big fan of the 8th gen sedans. Love the rear trunk and taillights
Like the 8th gen coupe a bit more but the 9th gens are also good looking cars.
I would only buy the 4door
I'm still rocking my '15 Si sedan completely stock. Original owner only 44k miles on it. It's fun and beautiful as is.
Considering picking one up for a daily driver, got any tips on what I should I look out for?
@@saltysweatyhands sorry for the late response. If you live in the desert or the previous owner did, it's likely the AC could go out. They aren't very robust. Some times shifting into 2nd will grind on full throttle no matter how well you do it. The second one may be just my experience, lol.
As a 9th gen owner I approve of this. It's a really fun car to drive. Especially around windy back roads. Keep yours if you have it. Every time I'm tempted to sell or trade mine my friend tells me not to.
That’s a good friend you got! Keep the friend and the car 😂
I have one also in white and black
@@RacconCity white and black is my favorite color. I have a grey one.
Yea man feels like driving around a goKart compared to my 06 Accord
Litterally same tried selling so many times and I just can’t lol
Love my 2013 si sedan, easily one of the best daily drivers you can buy. If you own a 13-15 9th gen hold onto it!
Man I had an 8th gen si 4door back in 2018-2020. Best car I ever owned. I put it on coils, wheels, summer high performance tires, got hawk hp plus brakes, and did an intake, exhaust, and tune with hondata. That car was so great. Reliable as hell, handled great, and was just quick enough to be really fun. Unfortunately it got repoed in 2020 due to me being on drugs and not making the payments. Dumbest thing I ever did. But now I’m afraid they’re becoming classics and I’m not going to be able to get one again in the future. I bought my 8th gen with 90k miles on it back in 2018 from a dealership for $$8000. Now they’re selling for $15,000 with 110k miles. They’re already shooting up, so maybe I should buy a nice example of one before they go the way of the e30 price wise
Man I'm sorry! If I were you yes get one! They are going up and fast. It's getting to be the last few years to get one at a decent price I think. Last true Vtec si ever!
@@ProjectRad right dude. And it’s a perfect daily. My e46 is my daily now but it’s not nearly as reliable as the SI. I wanna get an 8th gen again and when I get a better job just do a nice street/ track build
Bro I feel it I bought an 8th gen back in 2016 2nd owner it was that habanero red had the GPS radio and everything 4 door I make a stupid as mistake 1 night drinking and crashed I just had installed a stage 1 exedy clutch motor mounts detent springs short shifter fresh inner and outer tide rods car was clean
@@morrisreyes7061 fuckkk dude, I had the exedy clutch too. It’s such a shame. I built the whole fuckin car halfway to where I wanted it to be but like an idiot I dropped money on the car while I started missing payments 🤦🏻♂️ Only thing I can say is I had a bad addiction problem at the time and that shit literally rewires your brain for short term gratification over long term planning
The 9th gen was never the most hated generation, it was always the 7th gen.
easily the worst
the D series wasn’t it
Right. The 7th and the 10th gen monstrosities
I test drove one new on the lot. Such a neat little car, that handled like a freaking shopping cart. I dont know what they did to the steering rack and geometry on the 7th gens but its wrong.
na 9th gen is. No one even counts the 7th gen because it was never a real Si it had a base rsx motor. Everyone knows the best Si's are the even generations. 6th, 8th, and 10th.
I’ve always preferred the 9th gen over the 8th gen, coming from an rsx owner w a k24, the torque is just so much nicer to have compared to the k20. Kinda sucks you miss out on the drama of the high revs, highest I can go is 7500 on my tune
It really is a different thing entirely! Hell ya man!
i can say the same thing about my 10th Gen Si....the torque is so much nicer to have....and easy 50 WHP and 100 WTQ gain from just an OTS tune
@@brokentradgedy them 1.5s like to blow up /: be careful
My 8,500 rev says otherwise 🤤
yet when a 10th gen owner tries to say the same thing y'all try to shit on it when it's pushing 249 whp and 300 wtq off a simple tune. I bought a used ktuner for 300$ and the tune for $99. You arent getting anywhere near those numbers on a 9th gen.
I love my 9th gen but my two biggest gripes are how short 1-3 are, I think they could use about 10 more mph until redline and the fact that there’s no coolant temp gauge
1st for sureeeee
I honestly like how short the first 3 gears are but that's me it gets up to speed quick at low rpms
@@openshot But the rpms aren’t low when you’re at speed cause they’re so short…
@@newengland9thgen372 under 3k at highway speeds is fine. That was normal for a 5 speed 96 si civic
@@openshot Yeah I mentioned 1-3 specifically
Just got mine this weekend and love it. 2015 Civic SI sedan. Fun to drive and room for the nieces and nephews.
My 06 Honda Civic si swapped with a k24-a2 and 2006 type R head from Japan makes at the wheels 270+hp to also full bolts on.That 9th gen Civic looks super niceee sick bro.
Wow that sounds like a complete blast to drive! I want to review that 😂😂
Thank u Imma do more like carbon hood and trunk
I find our 9th gen to be a good grand touring car. The car is great handling, the perfect car for road trips. It is comfortable, while having plenty of room. It is not a track day car or a race car, with out existential mods, but it is a car that has a place and that place is on the open road.
Love the 9th gen. Ppl knock them cuz the heads. But those heads are a beast with turbo. Best si ever imo
99 percent of people arent spending 10K for a turbo build 9th gen
@@brokentradgedy part of the game
@@brokentradgedy head swap with the 8th gen k20z3 head and e85 with type s pump and 50* VTC naturally aspirated makes well over 260whp
@@rg_barrow cool, how much work and mods is that? I make 249 whp and 302 WTQ from a simple off the shelf tune on a stock 10th gen Si
@@brokentradgedy I have never understood that, how can you be getting such an increase in HP&TQ from just a tune. You can't squeeze blood from a stone, the power has to come from somewhere. Does it change the turbo?
Next time no traction control but I’m glad u liked it buddy now just wait for when it’s boosted
Absolutely! It’ll be a beast!
I fell in love with the 14-15 coupe, spent 2 1/2 years looking for the right one and jumped on it and never looked back.
I approve this statement
i have a fk8 and i still miss my 9th gen alot, lightweight, agile, and the engine sound
I’ve owned every gen of si they’ve made (including the 80s cars) and the 8th and 9th gen were hands down the best. I had an fk8 for about a year and just never fell in love. Even after mods. Just doesn’t feel like a Honda.
Thank you for the review of this beautiful Civic!! I'm posting this to my page!!😊
Very nice. I got the same car. Rallye red 2015 Civic SI coupe, not hfp, just hit 32k mi. Loving the car. Possibly the best looking Civic Coupe ever. I plan to put hfp kits on it before my son takes over in a few years.
That’s insanely low miles! Hold on to her!
where can u get hfp kit?
I love mine so much. Never selling it. Proud owner of the 9th gen si
I know what I have 😤😤😤😤
Good vid. Dont know about that 280 hp at the crank, if it's 223 whp, usually drivetrain loss is about 15-20%. Couple of things, motor is k24z7 ,the k24z7 uses a downpipe, not a header. Rallye Red is the best color, his car sounds great!
Thanks man! I agree on power numbers. But it’s his interview and decided to not try and correct in the interview. And thank you for the correction on z7 I knew that sounded wrong when I said it outloud 😂
@@ProjectRad thank you.He might have been nervous and meant to say 250.🙂
I doubt his cuisine 50 hp to the wheel 😂

Yea I was wrong it’s about 240 to crank sorry
I really like this interview and drive type style bro it’s 🔥
Thanks man! I appreciate it! Trying to capture the man and machine bond that us car people get and show it to the world!
9th gens are really not bad if your planning on modding in the future for a stock car they could’ve done better from factory
Love my 9th gen coupe. Its the sunburst orange. Threw on matching side skirts and a CF hood and it really pops. Only 41k on the clock so I have yet to start with bolt ons. Its my sunday driver/garage princess and only sees about 75 miles on the road a month. I plan on keeping it till Im dead and then I might have them bury me in it. Seriously considering a second, maybe the sedan, to just beat on and keep my first stock or at least close. Been a Honda fanboy since my EG back in the 90's and I have to agree that the newer generations feel very different. Fun but Im just not a turbo guy. I test drove a 2021 and Im glad I shopped till I found a squeaky clean 9th gen instead.
@@middleagedbaldguy6774 Congrats on that beauty! Keep it safe and have fun 🫡
Got my 9th gen, and I tuned the rev hang out. Haven’t had it for that long so it will be some time before I put more money in it. But it’s been sweet. Even better with the rev hang out!
Completely agree!!! Hope you enjoy!
@@ProjectRad on a side note, your video on 8th gens really helped me out when I went to buy a car. I wasn’t familiar with the platforms so the part where you say “ this is what a stock 8th gen looks like” came in clutch lolol.
I love my 9th gen civic si. It has wheels and ram intake. I feel all it needs is new muffler, hfp lip kit, short shifter, rev hang delete and lowered a bit to be a perfect car for daily or toy. In 5 years I wanna paint it blue with a 12 13 coupe front end as its a 15 coupe
You got hondata on her?
@@ProjectRad not yet
The reason why It was hated is because the 10th gen hadnt come out yet.lol JKJK I love the K24! Midrange punch when strolling and enough top end to have fun. And if you want more power, boost it. if you want more revs, head swap to a A2 and upgrade oil pump for 8k+ rpm red line. Either way you go if you are tuned right and upgrade your clutch itll be reliable af.
😂😂

i have had a 2012 sedan for 2 years and i love it! can carry the kids in it and still have a little fun.
Ive been in love with this year since I first saw it, just got mine in orange last year
Congratulations!
I got the 12 orange here also first I didn’t like it but it grows on you. It’s more unique better than the red in my humble opinion.
The 9th gen looks fantastic the best looking civic si to date idk why the hate I do wish it rev higher than 7k but that tq makes up for it
Just picked up an 9th gen coupe 2014 white, 82k miles for 14k. It’s crazy that these things are currently going for around 16k and up for higher mileage than mine. The manager at the dealer didn’t want to sell it to me because he was at a loss. I drove 5 hours to go grab it. From Georgia to North Corolina
I'm excited to pick mines up when I get off work today
Hell ya man!!! Have fun and be safe
@@ProjectRadgot it yesterday and I love this little car
By far one of the best cars for the $$$. 122k still going strong!
Absolutely!!!
Coming from a 95 integra rs, then to a 97 civic hx, then to a civic em2, now owning another 01' integra gs and a Fb6 I'm used to the 7k redline, can't go wrong with mid range torque and u can still hear the vtec intake cam.
Hell ya dude! It’s for sure pretty cool!
I test drove one of these and it was a dream / test drove it stock .
Very fun time especially if you come from the old school Hondas!
Ive driven both stock and both great cars i womt take anything away from the 9th gen theyre beautifully but me personaly i think the 8th gen has a more raw feeling and its what i want out of my car but im aware its not for everyone different people look for different things
Absolutely the same thing as I feel completely!
owaa amazing and helpful video with good sound and video quality with proper instruction.its working on my device.
Great video on the 9th gen!
I disagree with what he said at 4:02 being that last true Civic Si. The 8th gen is the last true Si as has real true vtec on both exhaust and intake cams. 9th gen has vtec on 1 cam and 11th gen Si's have vtec again with turbo, same as 9th gen only 1 camshafts not both.
I do kinda agree with you more as time has went on. I did mention the 1 cam vtec on this car but I feel that isn’t the only thing that made it the last “true” si but as time has went on I’ve been leaning more and more towards the 8th being the last the “true” one. Either way it’s a great car! Thanks for the comment!
This is what I've been trying to tell people. If I recall correctly the 8th Gen was the last Si designed in Japan too. The 9th Gen was a boardroom compromise.
My 9th gen needs a better home it’s so sad… hopefully i start treatin her right and get her repainted
Mine is a 15 si coupe stock w a hybrid short shifter… it’s super fun!!
I want a hybrid short shifter so bad
I have a 13 coupe, very fun car
I got one in Ukraine, exterior is HFP replica with Work Emotion XT7 wheels, it got k20 FN2 Type R header swap (k24/k20 hybrid) and some interior mods (bucket sits, shifter form FN2 Type R).
We have only 2 of them in our country, so it's rare as f***, people are constantly asking questions about her (not only honda fanboys).
If anyone considers modern honda product before turbo age - you should really buy this and swap header to k20 with VTEC on both intake and exhaust, because it's very cheap, considering you will gain extra 80 hp with proper tuning, and still NA motor with great resource.
P.S. Where did your guest got this awesome t-shirt?)
Thanks for the comment man! That’s amazing!! He custom made it actually
@@ProjectRad Np!

Head not header. Don’t want somebody getting the wrong idea.
bro im so mad the prices of these sky rocket im glad i got my hands on one before they went up in price but the 9th gen si coupe is perfect from the looks to the engine with it coming with the k24z7 i love this gen so much wouldn't take any other civic
Just picked up a white 9th coupe si. 80k miles for 14k. Suck a nice car. The car is also in immaculate condition so I’m just gonna do exhaust, maybe add a subwoofer and some rims. Keep it clean. I might lower it just a bit
Sounds perfect!
Most underrated gen, easily 🤙
i own a 2015 si and it’s the funnest car i’ve owed so far
I love the 9th gens. I used to have a 2015 Si coupe in orange, and should have never sold it. It's the 10th gen I hate. Rear of the car looks like a damn Prius. There's a guy on my block that has a white coupe. I pretty much always shake my head whenever I see it. Not sure what Honda was thinking with that mess. But the 9th gen, can't go wrong.
The throaty high torque that a 9th has i can distinguish with just sound.
Absolutely!
Hey, I’ve never heard anybody say they don’t likeninth GEN. Maybe I had my head in the sand. Honestly my 2014 SI is magnificent..
actually savin for one of those bad boys right now
@@CapnJrod hell ya!!
As an 8thgen owner.. I've always wanted a 9th gen sedan.
Bro ong me too I was never able to really find a 9th gen for a good price at a dealership so I saw a Fa5 for a good price so picked that up Instead it’s not bad at all but 9th gen will alwyas have my heart
No you don't...
My older brother has the 2018 Si the 1.5 L turbo one and I have the same one as he does the 2014 9th gen and I will have to say the 10th gen's aren't bad but not having Vtec really sucks because most civic guys (not all) usually turbo their vtec engines so it would've been nice to have that standard with the vtec engine off the lot but I like both but ofc I live my 9th gen even more and I've beaten my brother racing a few times lol
Very cool! And do agree. It is a bummer. I'm trying to find a 10th gen si to review so I can put my thoughts out there.
9th gen is the best generation...I owned everything from 1989 to 2013
K24 is the best sounding honda 4 cylinder it just sings to you in a different tone from the others
I totally agree!
Because I loved my 9th Gen 2013, and I love the seats on the 14/15’s…those years had the best seats I think 🤔 honestly….I’d say the clutch’s on the 8th Gen are the most shit. Fuck those Gen clutch’s…they’re weak asf. I’ve owned two and they both had shit clutch’s specifically the 06’ & 07’ plus on 9th Gen I love the K24 bc you’re able to draw more power from the meaty power belt. It’s def the most underrated civic Gen if you buy 13-15’s those are dope asf….you’re barely ever going to redline in daily driving unless you’re just a reckless dude, and so I love the k24 idc if it red lines at 7k on the 13 bc you can pull more power quicker…they get up and go quickly. Also anything after the 09’ has the auto clutch mechanism which helps with seamless shifting which speaking of seamless my friends 2023 he just bought is dope asf and it is bad ass at shifting bc it has an auto rev match mode which is awesome and one of the best driving experiences I’ve ever driven, witnessed personally and I got to drive his wrx sti which was dope as well. But ya I agree this Gen 9th being hated on is asinine at best, they’re still sick, and the exhaust I had on my 13’ was very rich, loud, and clear I loved it. It was a beast and it had real dark tint and the eyebrow tint on the front windshield which was very convenient. Loved it.
8th gens are the last true Si's with true dual cam vtec lobe 9th only had vtec on 1 camshaft
I agree in a way with you! I do agree that the 8th gen is the last “true” si but the 9th its not such a drastic fall from grace like the 10th and beyond. With mods from head swap you can regain the “true” si feel.
Thanks for the comment man!
@@ProjectRad I mean at least honda brought vtec back on the 11th gen lol on side camshaft like 9th gen
Not to mention an exhaust manifold that's cast into the head and one exhaust valve power cylinder. It was a boardroom compromise. If I recall correctly they didn't even bother to sell them in Japan.
sound great bro! I just got one and your video is inspiring. What coilover set up do you recommend?
The 9th Gen was always loved. It was the 7th gen and the 10th gen that were ugly as all heck. 😂 the 9th gen is considered one of the best looking and coolest interiors, with the 4th gen Prelude dash look.
got a 15 red coupe si bone stock as my daily. i think its a great car and i like my interior and exterior much better vs the 8th everyone lusts over.i find the 8th looks cheap by comparison
I was curious if my throw out bearing or bearing release is going on. When I let the clutch out in first gear at about 2k rpm or so. It make this weird squeak/ bad bearing sound. Has anyone had this issue?
Yeah I have a 2013 Si Coupe. Mine has been doing for the last 2 years getting worse 135k on the stock clutch. Probably the throwout bearing.
@@sjhudon386 yeah I think that’s what the issue is. It’s quite a common issue as well apparently. Someone said the release bearing? Is that the same as the throw out bearing lol?
@@spawnandbatman6975 yes
K20 can go so high cause it has too. 9th gen don't need to. It's different power band. Ones down low one way up high.
I mean, if people don’t like the ninth generation because it’s big then we should also hate the eighth generation because after all in the 90s the civic only weigh 2000 pounds I mean if you wanna get technical about it, I don’t know why people are like that, I roll around in a 2013 Honda CRV with GT Mustang rims torque trust, tinted windows, a factory wing on the back or a tail. Whatever you would call it EXL full leather interior. The reason I hate the car is because it’s automatic and you can’t get a standard in America so therefore why bother putting a turbo on it so I just use it as an every day , I put away $10,000 to buy either an eighth or ninth generation, but it’s really hard to buy one because you know they’ve been beat on. And if you buy a civic from a little old lady most likely it’s not going to be an SI so it’s a bit of a challenge.
Wanted to buy one new in 2015. Test drove it and just didn't care for it. I bet they've aged well though.
Completely agree! Really opens the car up with bolt ons. I test drove a stock one not long ago before I got my 8th gen and it felt so boring.
@@ProjectRad it was hella boring...after getting the full 3" exhaust,dp, and 3.5" cai and got a tune...it was an entire new car...had a ticket a few days after 😂😂..couldnt control myself

Hows a k20 head swap on 9th gen k24s? Possible? Starting to grow on some of the 9th gens. I love my bone stock 09 si coupe tho.
i have a 2012 si coupe with 250k they are great
The 9th gen si is easily the most capable civic out to date. You can say what you want about the type r, but 300hp sucks for 2x the amount. Half of that, with a head swap, type s pump and 50* VTC and you have a 260whp screamer. Or boosted with the stock head, 400whp and more with e85, plus supporting mods. They look great when lowered with some aesthetic mods if done tastefully, and there is a wealth of information out on them. Easily the best bang for your buck if you’re serious about modification and power potential
Premium fuel recommended on the gas cap , premium it is!
Love the 9th gen.. I have a fbo one myself for 6 years tuned by greengotuned... but in all honesty it's a great car but it's gah damn slow!!!
@Victor Martinez wasn't crying about it just stating facts.. know the difference kid.
@Victor Martinez what?!.. the fuck was that?!..
@@Iceekwm87
I want one I've heard many people complain how slow they are even FBO they're pretty good for city driving under 50mph because of the low end torque and short gearing
-
My friend has a stock 2016 Toyota Corolla 6 speed manual and it is surprisingly quick !!! The throttle response is instant it has low end torque that kicks in at a much lower RPM that it takes off quite quickly and sort of pins you back into your seat In first gear it has really long gears so you reach 60+mph in 2nd unlike the 9th Gen Si which would be in 3rd gear but the Toyota Corolla surprisingly for having such long gears for better fuel economy of course but it Revs rather quickly!! Like it's not slow taking forever to hit redline like the sloooooow CVT transmission it Revs rather quickly so you get up to speed quicker this car has good low end torque for city driving and has good midrange power for going over 60+mph the powerband doesn't die off if feels surprisingly quick it does not feel slow at all whatsoever!! But one would think that it would be slow seeing that it's a Toyota Corolla with only 130hp being known for being very slow and boring but reliable transportation and good on gas but with the 6 speed manual it is something else it's got the perfect combination of low end torque and midrange power so it feels quick when commuting and going on the freeway I freaking love his car he averages 26mpg !!! And that's him driving it with a heavy foot all the time and he doesn't even have to put premium it takes regular and he saves money and gets good MPG's considering his driving style and the suspension is sooooo nice it's very comfortable ride quality is so smooth it doesn't have that harsh stiff ride quality most sports car have with their stiff suspension setup to me it's the perfect setup for a daily driver - but there's the 9th gen Si I like the way it looks it's more aggressive in styling on the exterior it's got really really large windows way better visibility easy to see out of and I like the double dashboard design and I like the manual transmission of Honda it is so smooth and short throws and the clutch is very low to the floor and the modifications possiblity to this car and because it has 205hp and over 170lbftq which is a looooot more than the Toyota Corolla but I wonder if it's that big of a difference or if it'll actually feel slower than the Toyota Corolla in the top end at least because I used to have a 2004 RSX type S with coilovers invidia catback exhaust an actual cold air intake from Injen short throw shifter skunk 2 weighted shift knob on stock map no tune and it was soooo slow it sucked daily driving it there was no power down low it felt so boring driving it I had to rev it out just to get the car moving but once I was at higher speeds the car started to move but it also wasn't that quick it moved better in the top end but I was in love with my friends Toyota Corolla I would have traded my RSX for his car the power delivery on that car was way better than mines and it was so comfortable better interior better ride quality better on gas and felt more quicker unfortunately I can't find any 6 speed manual Toyota Corollas of that year so I'm looking for a 9th gen Si
Slow yea, but also very fun slow. They feel fast in town/side roads. Highways not so much. That's what turbo is for!
I never heard someone say the 9th gen is the most hated ever
It really isn't anymore people are really liking them now seeing what the car community is now with tons of aids and electronics. But back when it came out people were upset with the 1 cam vtec. People be mad sadly nothing new. At least it's getting the love it needs now
I love the space!
I’ve owned 2 9th gens and 1 8th. Imo the 9th is much more stylish.
So my 2013 civic si sedan....i hear to change the head? What yall think and from what
They’re not the most hated anymore.. they’re coming around. I get compliments on mine all the time literally and I’ve had the car for five years.
Most hated? Cap. 10th is. 1.5t trash. 9th is the last NA /K series. It's a legend.
Aye man what’s your pov go pro set up? What mic do you use it sounds C R I SP

It's a good-looking car, but Civic coupes don't sell as much as the sedan. same applies to the Accord coupes.
I like coupes cause "I only got room for me and my girl." lol
I absolutely love mine, dont plan on selling it anytime soon, imo 9th gen si’s will increase in value indefinitely, they are the last n/a civic si with a kseries that has vtec to ever be produced. Give it another 10 years and these cars ill be desired just as much as the em1 si’s are today
No the 8th Gen is the pinnacle of old school Honda pedigree. The 9th Gen was a corporate boardroom compromise, while the 8th Gen was still raw.
The 8th gen is loved for sure, but people are k24 swapping them, so that tells you that the love for the 9th will increase. Not only that, but the face lift 9th gens are already fetching 20k if clean. Low mileage versions are 25k.
I had a fa5 for 6 years and loved that car, but the motor is the best part, the interior sucks. The facelift 9th gen has a k24 and the interior is leaps ahead of an 8th. The 9th is already coming of age, people just slept on them when they came out because of the 2012.
@juanticimo people aren't swapping the 9th gens k24z7, most get a k24a, and the best mod for a k24 is a k20 head, bc it has real vtec and a way better air flow rating, not to mention an actual exhaust manifold and 16 valves instead of 12. Talk about usable power band is silly. The k24y7 makes peak torque around 3500 but redlines at 7 for 3500 rpm of good power while a k20 with nothing but a tune will be in vtec(true vtec at that) from 4400-8500, that's an extra 1000rpm to play with and once it's revved up the k20 will keep up if not out perform the z7. Plus 8th gen is the last true jdm civic, Japan didn't even sell the 9th Gen so there's no such thing as 9th Gen jdm parts either. FA5 is the pinnacle of old school honda pedigree, and a true successor to the em1/ek9, without doubt.
Plus the interior is fine, timeless even. The navigation in 9th will be outdated af, the steering wheel is atrocious not to mention it needs a vtec light to let you know it's switched over bc it does not Crack the same way a k20 does. Meanwhile the 8th Gen has simple yet tactile knobs and controls. I'm not saying the 9th is a bad car, it's just not peak n/a honda motor. It reminds me of an early 2000's Nissan Sentra SE-R. Does the 9th come with a LSD? IMO the exterior of the 8th is also a timeless design. Late 90's through the 8th Gen was Hondas peak, then they went turbo 1.5.
In another 10 years I bet 8th will be worth more than it is now and worth more than the 9th. Plus the 9th has a face only it's mother could love.
223 to the wheels should be around 255-260 crank. Not 280. That would be too much power loss for a FF car.
I notice the 9th gen gets most it’s hate from not having vtec on its exhaust side. Which people call “true” vtec. It also gained nothing from cams, which now, 4piston has made results with cams that adds 25-35 hp.
The k24z7 is slept on.
I’m currently making 220whp/190trq with fbo and e85. Once I get 4P Cams, manifold, and type s oil pump. I’m hoping to see 260+whp/200+trq. This is without a head swap, so that I can keep the car true to its core.
I agree with you with all that was said and I mentioned the “true vtec” in the video as well. And I agree with the power I just didn’t want to correct the guest about his car. 😊. Good luck with the car man!! 🤟
Yea my bad it’s around 240 to 250
Any reason to go cams in the k24 head and not do cams with a k20 head?
@@johnkrstyen I don’t have any specific reason outside of reliability. Keeping the car true to its core is also important to me.
K24/20 is an amazing way to get power as well. Possibly cheaper, if you can piece everything together over time. I would love to have that in my DC5 or my future integra.
@Mugen Stylez fair enough. Was wondering if there was and advantage.
There’s not hate on that. There’s more hate to the 10 gen for the l15s
I think the 7th gen is most hated in general. But I do not like a 9th gen at all. I loved my 8th gen.
7:39 it weighs under 2900lbs THATS pretty light
280 for a car that light is a monster.. My car, a Veloster Turbo 2016, had 201 stock, and at 2800 lbs, thats quick.. Mine isn't quite stock.. but its fast.. Nice looking Si. My Veloster Turbo has some drone.. but I like it.. haha
I currently have an 8th gen sedan, but love the 9th gen as well. I test drove a white 9th gen sedan last year...The only thing I didnt really care for was he Lane departure camera popping up on the center display...But I guess theres a way to disable that? Ive had my eye on trading in for a 9th gen coupe though in the future. It took me WAY longer to like the 10th gen rather than the 9th.
I am not sure if you can disable it if I’m honest but I’m not 100% sure
9th gen si sedan owner for 7 years now. Yes you can for sure shut it off on the center screen settings. I always leave it on though so I can see quickly for tight maneuvers 😂
Also to add to that I like the 9th si body a lot and you can get different bumpers to make it look old but modern which I think is a beautiful part of the JDM look. Not too flashy but I can slap a type r style from bumper on mine and give it this unique old and new look.
You can definitely disable it.
Yo radium I feel like a lot of the hate you shifted towards 1.5 engines
That's true. I came across a little hot on them. Just sadly I feel on stock form it ain't to good. Takes lots of money to u lock the potential and when you finally do the clutch gives out. But they can great motors. Just takes some love
what are the specs on the rpf1’s and the tires
The haters are the ones who cant afford them
Love this😂
Lowered on bbs’, the review thatdudeinblue did?
@@fb6cujo What's up? I don't understand
I’ll take a 9th gen over a 10th anyday
Love it
call me crazy but I think the pre face lift looks better
Been hearing that more!
I had both. 8th gen is like a Corolla below 6k rpm..... 9th gen 3-3500 it's all there till 7. Now, I have K24a2 block with a K20A head full bolt ons.
I want me a Coupe they seem to a bit less then the Sedan.
Bc they're ugly
those are the whack RPF1's. The concave style ones look so much better.
@@brokentradgedy I 100% agree
Am I the only one that noticed that bob cat 😳
Nice channel bro
Appreciate it man!!
I have an 9th gen and sounds better and doesn't have that much rev hang. And you must not be driving it hard because it seems slow. And is that kph
8th Gen is the last and the pinnacle of the old school Si formula. The head on the z7 is garbage, only have vtec on the intake, only one oval exhaust valve per cylinder, plus the exhaust manifold is cast into the head and it lacks the raw revs of the 8th Gen. Si's have always had a square bore to stroke ratio not to mention the 8th is the last true jdm civic. 8th gens will become collector cars like the em1.
Love it❤
