    Note from an old guy. Always keep separator boxes for individual carb sides and mark left or right. You can use day of the week pill boxes to store jets, springs, washers and never mix slides by side, they wear differently. Using taper ground forged #2 phillips screw drivers to remove bowl screws are a major league benefit. Above all, organization is a must. A great trick for cleaning emulsion tube holes is peeling paper of plastic off a twist tie, its the perfect size wire to begin with for cleaning jets and tube holes.

      Paul Wichmann: You old guys need to pass all your tips and tricks down to the next generation. That twist tie is a great tip! Thank you.

    Grandma's silverware really lends a touch of class to carb disassembly. 🙂

    Diamond tipped screwdrivers really help in sticky situations

    I did notice there were no adaptor plates between the carb and the cylinder jugs.I just purchased the same bike someone played with the carbs and installed the needles in wrong.I ask because on my Speedmaster it came stock with these so called adaptor plates and the America did not have them.Bike bandit shows them on both America and Speedmaster.

      Marty Noubarian: To my knowledge, this bike is completely stock. The previous owner almost never rode it... so I doubt the carbs were ever off of this bike before I got my hands on it.

    I have a crazy question. I just recently pulled my carbs and my Speedmaster and put them back together. However, I didn’t recall the choke assembly having springs on the inside of them, but had 2 springs left over and I’m unsure if they go there or not. Could you advise? Thanks

      jessie lafferty: If the springs are really small, they might be for the pilot adjustment screws. We didn't take the choke assembly apart... so i'm not sure about all the parts involved with the choke.

    bit painful watching the carb bowl screws being tortured. They do suck on this bike, so : use WD40 spray to penetrate, wait 5 mins. Press down hard with the JS screwdriver, & always replace with allen heads.

      David: Yeah, I messed up forgetting to bring my JIS screwdrivers with me.

    An impact driver would have avoided damage to the screws.

      Using the correct JIS screw driver would have avoided damage to the screws.

    Nice bike! My old man has a '71 750 Tiger Triumph. It's very Fonzie from Happy Days style, but cool, none the less. I just never been much of a bike guy....minus the Cafe bikes...owned one..."WAYY back in the 90's". The accents 👍😂

    Hey man did you ever find out where the oil leak was coming from? I have the same bike and it collects in the same spot.

    • @fwh79FOXR6
      @fwh79FOXR6  5 років тому

      thomas forte: If I remember correctly... it was leaking from the oil return banjo bolt. There are two cooper crush washers that were causing the leak. Replacing the cooper washers fixed the leak.

    JIS impact driver is a cheap investment if you rebuild carbs on bikes.

    Sorry, wasted 46 minutes of my time. Was hoping to see carbs split and o ring change.
