I was there, aged 13. He really did it! Also Ted Heath, British PM at the time did a lap in his roller
Is it Brands Hatch Circuit ?
@@jorgepozoshdez Yes it was. Shame I didn't take a photo, I have one of Ted Heath!
this is way better than anything i see created nowadays
Wow , i see your comment is 9 years old, and now we have basically exactlt same things , basically replicas
Мне кажется, что этими изобретениями будут всякие понтовые вещи, что-то связанное с соцсетями и смартфонами. Но серьёзных изобретений не будет, по крайней мере не на нашем веку.
Какие потребности, такие изобретения.
Energy density and Aviation Logistics.
Even modern iterations of this design can only fly for 30seconds.
Jet Pack International do shows at events with the H202-Z jetpack which is H2O2 steam powered, like this one.
Jet P.I. is working the Falcon which runs on commercial jet fuel for 9 mins.
However Martin Jetpack have a working turbine model which runs for 30mins.
Also remember all aircraft have to follow the same aviation rules, seeing how most people drive cars I wouldn't want them in the air.
GTA San Andreas seems to have modeled their jetpack by this one, niice
Because the fuel lasts 20 to 25 seconds. Check out the Martin Jet Pack for a practical alternative currently in development.
no dude, that machine really exist, was used maaaaany times in diferents scenarios even in vietnam war, but we never know about it, you know, the government and contractors never go to your home to said "hey Loic, do you know what we do with jet pack?"
even in 1984 Olimpic Games this machine fly over the stadium, you dont remember?
this looks so easy and fun, but it sure was extremely dangerous.
Brilliant mode of transport, for any era !
@Calza yeah, that's true, but it was a long time ago.
The problem with jet packs is the short flight duration, only about 30 seconds or so.
thats fking amazing
This was 1966??? Why aren't we seeing these thing fly by outside our windows yet?!?!
because they suck
Why don't we all have these today????? I want to fly!!!!!!
Just like they already have the technology for cars to run on water?
Fuck, this looks awesome!. they should start selling these to the public. :D
I want one.
this is a rocket pack
Hi TB
The military did a study and said they required user training. They want products that dont require training.
yes. they want products with liminal professional experience needed.
I wonder if this was the same one in Thunderball...?
It's a monocle.
yes?
Can you think of anything else you'd rather spend it on? Oooohhhhhhhh, my gosh! That is *cool*! ... Add to shopping cart.
I could get to work so much faster with that!
i wanted to see who won the race! :c
Because of how incredibly dangerous it is. It's the same reason we will never have personal flying cars.
LOLLLLLL wrong.
@João M. hmm well we do have vehicles like that the Tesla
But it doesn’t fly
@@yellowgoose5043 he's right buddy
@João M. but the risk is just too much. If a flying car malfunctions, it's gonna go flying everywhere, probably destroying other flying cars and surrounding buildings.
It doesn't have enough benefits to outweigh the downsides.
@João M. yeah, so make autopilot cars, no need for flying ones
كيف يعمل؟
Looks exactly like todays GoFast Jetpack
JET-PACK Probably better at getting winning lap time on a drowned Silverstone than any F1 car!
no way....
This the only recent comment you'll see here

Mission accomplished, George W Bush.
The same with flying cars...imagine somebody crashing on an infant or your head. Yeah, that would be stupid, gory, and drunks are even worse. However, flying over military airspace would make good target practice ;)
It's 600 bucks per fly and you would crash into a building and cause fire on your 3rd try.
exactly.
Pov: your in creative mode on minecraft.
If I had to choose between kissing a beautiful girl on the mouth or the lips and a jet pack......I would choose a jet pack, coz then you can get all the good girls, if you had a jet pack.... fly to them, it's simple....if you have enough fuel.
What the heck? Is this fake like the robot one a while back? I've seen way more modern day jetpacks work a wholeeee lot worse than this. I didn't think we could get that kind of movement from a jetpack even today
It’s a Bell Rocket Belt made by Bell Aerosystems made in the mid 1950s. It was demonstrated in 1961 with 5 gal. of hydrogen peroxide as fuel and had 21 seconds of flight time. This rocket belt's propulsion works with superheated water vapour. A gas cylinder contains nitrogen gas, and two cylinders containing highly concentrated hydrogen peroxide. The nitrogen presses the hydrogen peroxide onto a catalyst, which decomposes the hydrogen peroxide into a mixture of superheated steam and oxygen with a temperature of about 740 °C. This was led by two insulated curved tubes to two nozzles where it blasted out, supplying the propulsion. The pilot can vector the thrust by altering the direction of the nozzles through hand-operated controls. To protect from resulting burns the pilot had to wear insulating clothes.
Too expensive. That one flight costs a couple hundred bucks to fuel.
'Cuz cars are still faster ;D
You can totally see the strings.

@@captainantilles9094 so...it's real?
you really can't.
cuz they don't exist.
and what is he supposed to be hanging off of?
Obviously the military snapped up this idea, imagine what a jet pack can do nowadays with 40 years worth of R&D
nothing. few minutes of flight for 20 kilos of pack. very unpractical and way to expensive.
Tbh flying with no armor and a lot of expensive extra weight isn't really that benefitial
why would the military give a sh*t?
Loud and noisy, pretty expensive, dangerous to fly, and could only fly for a minute.
Not to mention difficult to fly, as your mass was constantly changing due to the rapid fuel consumption of the jetpack.
@@Ju379an exactly.
Not real......it simply don't work like that
oh but it does
