Density, the most effective weed control is a dense lawn. Especially when it’s long it shades the soil which prevents crabgrass

I have a customer that wants a 6” cut on st Augustine I tell him every month it can not be done by my mower
I mow it short enough so I don't have to mow every week.
It's like they don't realize most commercial mowers cap at 5" but pretend that they know everything

Why would you want an 8" HOC?
For the front, keep the same size caster, extend the spindle shaft, using spacers to set the height. Some John Deere decks have this feature; the mount is also reversible, so you have a low range and a high range. We have a 72" Side Discharge on a 1570 with this set up. Id think the back would be the more difficult challenge, but again why?

Whenever I have yards like this , I do my edging and flat topping first and I’ll even make some wide swaths with the head of my Shindaiwa T-27 so that the mower isn’t straining.
Then again on my ole School Great Dane stand on Surfer ya could do some of those suggestions but it’s just extra work .
It helps to use mulching blades even with side discharge.

I’m not sure why everyone seems to have are so many seem to have such an opinion about your job and your mower. It is your job you probably know everything about that mower and the elements of your job that you need to especially more so than an observer. Sometimes opinions are best left quietly submerged in your brain. You don’t need to share everything we know or think we know who someone about their job. I appreciate what you do I appreciate that you do it well and you know everything about your equipment.
This is definitely not as bad as “if you fall in a pool drink all the water”. As a auto mechanic, who knows absolutely nothing about lawmowers except pushing one, that is exactly what I would’ve thought, and honestly a lot of techs or mechanics probably would’ve aswel😂😂

I honestly don't get why people want him to, or think it's necessary, to cut tall grass 1/3 at a time, or whatever it is. I've cut plenty of way overgrown grass, and the grass does fine when you cut it short in one go. It just looks bad at first because the bottom of the grass hasn't been getting the sun due to shade from the top half or so. Designers for mowers know it will do fine too, otherwise we would have way more mowers, residential and commercial, that go to 8+ inches. Sheesh

I have a 4000 series toro. 24" rear tires and oversized front casters. Cut height is still max 5". These are finish mowers. If you need a higher cut get a different type of machine.
These are the same people that would last 2 days doing actual landscaping and not there own lawn.

I'd like to think the guys suggesting bigger wheels took into consideration, which I did when I read the comment before the video played, that you'd have to modify the brackets for the front casters (cutting/adding additional material in to make the brackets longer, but also taking away from structural rigidity), and getting lift out of the rear could be as simple as lift blocks, similar to those in mudding trucks, all the way up to cutting and/or welding more material into the rear end as well. But all of this is just janky ass workarounds when all it really takes is, regularly paying your landscaping guy so he keeps coming, or, KEEPING UP ON YOUR OWN DAMN YARD SO IT'S NOT 12"+ TALL!! 🤷🏽🤣🤦🏽
Just the shaft and use spacers to set the HOC. DEERE has a setup like that.

Also, it will make the deck height not the same from the front to the back also work for a landscaping company and we had to put bigger tires on the mower because the tires had a flat and it only changed the deck height by about a quarter of an inch with 2 inch bigger tires 26 x 12 x 12 is what we put on and we had 24 x 12 x 12 but who is going to be inspecting the lawn
I’ve just raised the casters, my zero turn cuts to low even on the most raised setting, the rear was not an issue as a bit larger drive tires takes care there.
Also you have to take into account the loss in height you get when a 1200lb mower rides on grass. It'll sink into the ground and cause ruts eventually.

My father has been a first responder since he was 18. While he tries to detach himself you cant truly detach yourself and the shit still haunts him so if she can truly do it, she does NOT have a soul. I know the parents have been through enough but i do hope they press charges and press charges against the court/police station that gave them to her.

Not hating but on my residential zero turn I did put 1inch bigger tires on. It increases top end speed but reduces torque. But mine only went up to 4" prior and this helped in the wet spring
All you inside the box thinkers are missing out on the real solution: no wheels. Flymo knew what they were doing. The concept of infinitely variable cut height based on thrust will take off one day, just as soon as they work out how to spin the blades fast enough... On a serious note though, your work looks great as it is!
As a landscaper I’ve never met a client, nor maintained a condemned lot that would even consider an 8 inch mow height acceptable for any finish grade work. Regardless of capability. Just cut and remove clippings even if it takes several passes.
I added tractor tires on my bad boy rouge. It's 3 inches higher now. But I also got a scag turf tiger and you cant do that. Algo got a cub cadet commercial mower and you could add bigger tires on it. But I choose not to because they ain't cheep lol. Anyway I didn't add bigger tires on my bad boy to mow at inches. I put them on for tougher mowing areas with slopes for extra grip. Those tires work like a champ 👌🏽

Wish Toro would take a leaf out of Scags book and offer different options of rear wheels. Here in the UK the chevron agricultural wheels are favoured by some commercial customers.
Uh, obviously, you should place 4×4 lumber in front of the mower and drive on it. It will take multiple passes because of the grass trapped under the lumber, but it will cut the proper height. Don't be lazy. Where there's a will, there's a way.
He could also get some really good scissors from a barber shop and start tomorrow morning and by this time nexr year he will jave 8" like everyone thinks he needs instead of 2" on hard
The ones complaining about the cut height would have a heart attack if they saw us cutting hay or just mowing the fields. All types of grass can withstand a single cut really short when it's overgrown. Just don't try to maintain certain types of grass too short, or you could kill it.
The people complaining are the ones jealous they can only run their push mower 😂
It’s what you call classic overkill. You could literally have a push mower or I think they make mowers with adjustable heights specifically for this purpose check with your local rep.

you are right... on a stop zero turn mower... BUT you could MOD the front end with a bolt-on custom-made unit that gave you the lift. Is this practical, NO. or something you would want to do and undo more than one a year... NO, but could it be done, YES

SGAG'S used to have a 1 inch steel pin attached to the top of their casters. You add spacers on top or bottom of the caster mount and that would raise and lower the whole deck. If you welded a longer pin you could raise it more. Granted that's a walk behind , I wouldn't ride those tiny lawns in your vid anyway. 🙂
