You treated Atlantic Provinces in the same way India treats its Seven Sister States.. Looks like every country has its ignored places. But the way, I love NS.
The more I watch these videos, the more I just think the stereotypes of British Columbia are shared with Oregon and Washington in the USA. And to make matters worse, there's a city right on the Oregon/Washington border called Vancouver. So I have to clarify sometimes with people if they're talking about the city 320 miles away or 10 miles away from where I live.
Another fact about the Atlantic provinces: nobody in Canada cares about them, as demonstrated here. It's disgusting to see someone who wants to teach others about Canada be so uncaring as to not afford the Atlantic provinces any individuality what so ever. While it would be correct in saying that we tend to have similar stereotypes due to not being as geographically large as other provinces, it would have been nice to have at least A factoid that gave each province a little distinction. Heck, even just equal treatment in having our population centers named would have been nice.
@Plan_It_Hoax because the seperation of east and west falls under the manitoba ontario border. How can you be so stupid? Just be glad the maritimes are still talked about more than manitoba. Nobody cares aboubout manitoba including manitobans.

Yes but American's improperly use the term indians, and seeing as how we treats the territories, Manitoba and Atlantic Canada it seem like the worst part of the states have rubbed off on him
I feel like this guy is bigoted towards Ontario. Also, I'm sorry to break it to you, but there's not a rivalry between East and West Canada. You, being from BC, might think Ontario is obsessed with you, but we're not. We are way more captivated with Quebec than we are with you.
Not from the Eastern perspective, maybe. However, our largest complaint in the West is that you don’t take enough notice of us to realize we’re upset with you.
I just bought The Penguin History of Canada by Kenneth McNaught from a thrift store for one euro. "Canada possesses a history rich in incident and personality, and in this classic, definitive work Professor McNaught traces that history from the earliest expeditions, in search of fish and fur, to the twentieth century." Sounds riveting.
Now I’m try not to complain but as someone who was born in Newfoundland and labrador and lives in Nova Scotia I’m pretty mad that he didn’t include us as separate provinces and there’s a lot of stereotypes for the different provinces
The fact that Quebec uses "Arrêt" signs instead of "Stop" is so funny, even in France we use "Stop". They are working hard to annoy the english speakers
As someone from Ontario, I'd heavily disagree with the "rivalry" stereotype, since, I've been to BC, it's one of the most beautiful places I've seen on this earth, with some of the nicest people, and the most interesting culture, you guys are awesome and I don't think any part of Canada is better than any other part, Ontario may be my home, but I don't think it's "better" than BC, it's just different. Basically, if there's a rivalry, it's a heavily one sided one where one side doesn't even hate the other.
It's really cute how BCers hate Ontario but we don't hate BC because you guys just aren't important enough to hate, you're just kind of an afterthought...

I had a friend tell me she was going on vacation to Manitoba. So I asked if she was visiting family there. She wondered why I'd ask that and I said, people don't go on vacation to Manitoba otherwise.
@@nuclearbomb9483 I prefer Saskatchewan to Manitoba. The cities are cleaner and quieter then Winnipeg, the Qu'Appelle Valley is scenic, and it's not as damp. And they still have a real IMAX theater.
They’re just the federal police force that are contracted to places that don’t have their own local one. They only dress up like that for special occasions and they originated as essentially agents of genocide against Indigenous people in the northwest so I’m not sure why we still think they’re loveable

When you said Calgary I immediately thought of a show I watch on Netflix called heartland which is a Canadian show, and then you said "People being cowboys" you showed two people from that show (Ty and Amy)!!!!!
I wonder which is worst: being called loud, obnoxious, rude, arrogant, and ugly (Ontario), being called obscure and no stereotype except for bad weather and polar bear watching (Manitoba), being barely mentioned and clumped up into one stereotype (Maritime provinces), or not being mentioned at all (Arctic Territories).
Negative Newfoundland stereotypes: -fishing -Vikings -‘weird accents’ (our accents aren’t what people think they are) -that all we talk with are “ye and ba” -poor towns Newfoundland is actually a great province when it’s not negatively stereotyped
Gettriggered _Ian Because a national sport should de facto be one that the people of the nation in question cares about. In this regard it’s obvious there’s no comparison. After hockey it’s probably football or basketball.
I'm not from the United States of America, but my favourite American State flag is Maryland. My second and third favourite American State flags would be Mississippi and California eh.
@@workerworker7961 It's just strange and uncomfortable since he's only adopted one aspect of a maritime accent and hasn't adopted other more distinguishing speech characteristics to go with that pronunciation of "about" (like saying "ar" as in "car" farther back, closer to the throat and with less relaxed front of the mouth)
Great video. The only thing I can't understand is why a Canadian making a video about the Canadian provinces would have the American flag in the background. Other than that, the video is spot on. 1:24 Oh, this has been the first time I've heard someone pronounce the word "archipelago" that way.
I’d like to see you make a video on various Canadian regional accents, especially the “funny accents” to which you referred in the eastern provinces. Also, maybe more about the territories. Here in the USA we also have territories, but they’re mostly called that just because they’re also semi-independent countries. Are the Canadian territories considered countries? What makes them different than provinces, politically speaking?
The territories are politically the same as provinces in all important ways other than the name. Unlike provincial governments, territorial governments receive about 70 percent of their budget revenue from Ottawa. Bad statistics for human civilizations, like per-capita prison population, drugs, suicide are vastly higher in the North aka territories than anywhere else in Canada, to the point where they are often excluded from national statistics to avoid warping the average. None of the territories or provinces are considered countries at all.

Ontario here, join the club.
Quebec here... actually way less worst than I expected LMAO
I'm from Saskatchewan, and I'm disappointed that he talked about us for about 2 seconds.
Which Vancouver is the one closer to you?
Another fact about the Atlantic provinces: nobody in Canada cares about them, as demonstrated here.
It's disgusting to see someone who wants to teach others about Canada be so uncaring as to not afford the Atlantic provinces any individuality what so ever. While it would be correct in saying that we tend to have similar stereotypes due to not being as geographically large as other provinces, it would have been nice to have at least A factoid that gave each province a little distinction. Heck, even just equal treatment in having our population centers named would have been nice.
Andrew Noonan I know right, we're always cast aside as the most unimportant part of Canada, I hate it
Ik. I personally felt offended to all Atlantic canafians when he grouped them all together.
I echo that sentiment. The Maritimes and NL are their own respective beasts if one actually bothers eyeing ‘em closely.
😳 I'm from new Brunswick
@Plan_It_Hoax because the seperation of east and west falls under the manitoba ontario border. How can you be so stupid? Just be glad the maritimes are still talked about more than manitoba. Nobody cares aboubout manitoba including manitobans.
As a Canadian who has lived in 7 out of the 10 provinces and 2 of the 3 territories I can say this was extremely accurate! Well done.
damn how much do you move
@@willymunksby7518 Foster Care was no joke haha
so all of them except the maritimes im guessing
@@decati31 Nope =) but during the five years after this comment, I have now lived in every province and territory
Shout out from American Canada aka Northern Minnesota
People think Canadians are nice until they look at the comment section of a JJ McCullough video.
Why do you have an American flag?
because he's a sleeper agent for the Yanks
Good point
Jakub Kuberski I thinl he's a bit rightish in his political views and in many ways closer to USA's system than Canadas'.
he's waiting three days to compare Canada Day and Independence Day
+Domen Bremec the us isn't actually right wing
I love you JJ- but the way your pronounced "archipelago" was difficult for me.
Hah hah!!!! was not just me then..! I blinked like emergency lights were on, and I' m spanish speaking. Couldn' t wrap my brain around how did that pronunciation came about
I really love your channel!! I learn a lot from it. My family's in canada for a long time and I'm going to follow them soon but before that, they gave me a task to study canadian history, government, geography and etc. I find your channel very helpful ❤
They’re NOT Indians they’re First Nations Peoples.
well, same difference they still bitch about not getting enough money.
oof
We in manitoba call them natives lol
jord3444 leave
Yes but American's improperly use the term indians, and seeing as how we treats the territories, Manitoba and Atlantic Canada it seem like the worst part of the states have rubbed off on him
2:47 - Alberta is the 3rd most atheist province behind Yukon and B.C.
Its a stereotype
I feel like this guy is bigoted towards Ontario.
Also, I'm sorry to break it to you, but there's not a rivalry between East and West Canada. You, being from BC, might think Ontario is obsessed with you, but we're not. We are way more captivated with Quebec than we are with you.
Egocentric, moi???? Naaaah!
You just gave the dude a point with your caustic comment. Steretypically Ontarian. Btw: I live in ON.
Not from the Eastern perspective, maybe. However, our largest complaint in the West is that you don’t take enough notice of us to realize we’re upset with you.
Sounds like you’re tending up the rivalry there my friene
Man, don't be hating on Ontario.
This is amazing. I'm from Ontario and the stereotypes are REAL
Now I’m try not to complain but as someone who was born in Newfoundland and labrador and lives in Nova Scotia I’m pretty mad that he didn’t include us as separate provinces and there’s a lot of stereotypes for the different provinces
My late father studied at St Francis Xavier University, Nova Scotia in the 1960s. He inspired me to study abroad too. I chose the United Kingdom.
As a Manitoban, I can confirm that it is the Canadian equivalent of Ohio (hell)
The fact that Quebec uses "Arrêt" signs instead of "Stop" is so funny, even in France we use "Stop". They are working hard to annoy the english speakers
Manitobas weather is just winter for 9 months
Try Alberta's, sonny Jim. We got a metric butt-fuck ton of wind.
So true, it snows in September and ends in May.
I'm from Ontario, and I'm speaking to you from Alberta.
I'm from Québec, and I'm speaking to you from Québec.
It's very similar to the Yorkshire/ Lancashire rivalry in England and the New York/New Jersey rivalry in America.
zack p this just proved why the west hates the east
zack p Yet you took the time to insult BC. Sounds like you care a little.
5:17 "Thats basically all you need to know to fake your way through conversation" :D :D killed me .. gonna use it when I briefly explain somebody my own country :D
Im from canada alberta and there arent very many rich people, but I want to move to B.C,Vancouver
your videos are high quality, which is getting rare, and the good thing is that the contenent of the videos you make satisfy the title and/or question ! I love your channel !
Aw thanks so much!
J.J. McCullough I am only saying the truth ! I shall thank you for your amazing videos !!
I'm pretty sure that Quebec is larger then Ontario, I mean your looking at the map.
Daniel Finjan I think, it was based on the population, Ontario have more people than Quebec, but I may be wrong 😊
Sarah Pelletier You may be right, but the proper way to define a population is saying Ontario is the largest Nation in Canada, not Ontario is the largest province.
Also happy Canada Day!
happy Canada day 😊
Daniel Finjan : it is
As someone from Quebec I am dying of laughter and you forgot “our” weird expressions like saying: “tabarnak, criss, hosti”
Edit: here is another stereotype: nice people(most of the time)
it's was quick and short but direct and clear. thank you so much 💛
Very good video on Canada I really like Canada I’ve never been there but I will go there when I have enough money and will visit all the nice places like Vancouver and Calgary and Toronto and Ottawa
I love how he points out Manitoba is one of the provinces that not many people think about. I always forget that it even exists. I hear Manitoba and I'm like "wait, Manitoba exists?"
I had a friend tell me she was going on vacation to Manitoba. So I asked if she was visiting family there. She wondered why I'd ask that and I said, people don't go on vacation to Manitoba otherwise.
At least it's not Saskatchewan
@@nuclearbomb9483 I prefer Saskatchewan to Manitoba. The cities are cleaner and quieter then Winnipeg, the Qu'Appelle Valley is scenic, and it's not as damp. And they still have a real IMAX theater.
I would like to know more about the Mounties. How someone becomes one, their training, and everything actually would be really interesting.
It would be nice if the RCMP would remain just an anecdotal piece of history ....
They’re just the federal police force that are contracted to places that don’t have their own local one. They only dress up like that for special occasions and they originated as essentially agents of genocide against Indigenous people in the northwest so I’m not sure why we still think they’re loveable
4:40 I like that you talk of the small separatist mouvement that is dying and the new generation basically don’t care.
This feels verry old youtube, I like it
_"Important Canadian fact number one. The provinces are NOT actually different colours in real life."_
I... I might need to sit down. I'm not sure how to process this stunning revelation.
How do you poor people tell each other apart?!
;p (sorry J.J., I couldn't let that opportunity elude me)
When you said Calgary I immediately thought of a show I watch on Netflix called heartland which is a Canadian show, and then you said "People being cowboys" you showed two people from that show (Ty and Amy)!!!!!
Lacey Karle most of that show is shot in Highriver and I live in Highriver, they film all the time downtown, I see them all the time
I live in calgary, right in down town my entire damn life.
For some reason my math teacher bought the same set a really long time ago and she hung up all the pieces on a bulletin board
"Take that Ontario" lmao so much shade
I wonder which is worst: being called loud, obnoxious, rude, arrogant, and ugly (Ontario), being called obscure and no stereotype except for bad weather and polar bear watching (Manitoba), being barely mentioned and clumped up into one stereotype (Maritime provinces), or not being mentioned at all (Arctic Territories).
I wish your channel was huge back then and that you had done something huge for the anniversary!
I loved the video
Thanks! :D
I'm from Nova Scotia and I'm highly offended that you think we are all poor because I'll have you know that I am not poor what so ever.
And how in other videos he thinks we are boring
Im fuming right now
At least we can buy a house here for less than $3 million.
I lived in Vancouver about 7 years ago and now I live in London. London is OK but I miss Canada...
It's amazing how far your production values have come in just four years.
Negative Newfoundland stereotypes:
-fishing
-Vikings
-‘weird accents’ (our accents aren’t what people think they are)
-that all we talk with are “ye and ba”
-poor towns
Newfoundland is actually a great province when it’s not negatively stereotyped
Hockey is not the national sport of Canada lacrosse is why do I feel like you are not from Canada atleast not originally
Thank you, my exact thoughts.
...They both are
How many people do you know playing lacrosse though? Half the guys I know play hockey.
@@appa609 What does that have to do with lacrosse being the national sport?
Gettriggered _Ian Because a national sport should de facto be one that the people of the nation in question cares about. In this regard it’s obvious there’s no comparison. After hockey it’s probably football or basketball.
Someone finally mentions NewBrunswick and it just gets lobbed in with the rest of the maritimes
I know, right.
Omg my teachers used those charts and pictures in my school😂😂😂
I think it would be very fun to see a more in depth version of this from modern JJ!!
I help clean for elderly people and I love to pop an earbud in and listen to your videos
It's not "indians" it's Aboriginal people or Natives
RiptideGaming nobody cares people will make anything a slur when it's about them it's all about intention
They actually preffer to be called indians. Lmao.
RiptideGaming What about First Nations or Indigenous Peoples? Or just focus on the person’s intent.
Yeah I never really hear that kinda was surprised.
No it’s wagon burner or red skins
The flags of the provinces would be cool. Some of them are hideous.
Oh trust me I know. I'm from Michigan. I hate my flag.
Haha, Missouri has a cool flag :)
I'm not from the United States of America, but my favourite American State flag is Maryland. My second and third favourite American State flags would be Mississippi and California eh.
I wish Manitoba would change theirs so they could distinguish their from Ontario's.
dvferyance or Ontario could change theirs.
I actually know people from Manitoba and Ontario. I’d love to see the unspoken places like Saskatchewan and the Yukon.
I’m from Sask lol
“Rivalry between the East and West” - Only ever thought of a rivalry between Quebec and Ontario, never really think about BC
It’s not B.C. and Ontario. It’s between Ontario and Alberta/Saskatchewan, and sometimes B.C. and Manitoba
Perfect video, I love it!
Congrats from Brazil :D
The genuine national Anthem of Canada is in french ignorant ! Created by 'la société St Jean-Baptiste ! Learn your History please!
Quebec
Why does he say about like that I am Canadian and I don't say it like that
Tori Turcato I feel like he exaggerates it
Different places in canada have different accents
His mom's from Nova Scotia. Why do you think all Canadians have to sound like you?
I am from BC and I have never heard of a BCer speak like this. its the weirdest.
*Hears the Ontario part while living there* “Wow...”
Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands are countries? If yes, then I can say I have been to 19 countries instead of 17.
3:55 Bruh I'm from a Chinese city called Guangzhou that has a population of 14.5 million XD
Oh god 😬
VPN is so fucking astonishing
Bigger than Ontario
There are small French communities all around Canada especially in the prairies. Notable in my area in Alberta are Falher and Girouxville. We like to consider ourselves Franco-Albertain.
Are you saying "aboot" on purpose? Sounds like it. Stop.
Zed Leppelin that's what I thought
I'm not sure if they actually name national sports
I know, it's freaking annoying too !
He definitely is. Pisses me off because he’s just going to make Americans think we speak like that. Nobody fuckin speaks like that smh
he's not, his mother is from one of the Maritime provinces and they have distinct accents.
It's funny seeing all the different evolutions to your hair as I watch your videos...
You can just hear him loathe each province more and more as he moves East
