Ocean wildlife is much scarier at night. On almost every “daytime” dive that I’ve done I’ve encountered sharks. Usually black tip or reef sharks and on occasion a bull shark or hammerhead. Was never once spooked by them or felt that I needed to get out of the water. They’re beautiful creatures and Im always in awe of them and consider myself lucky to have seen them. Except on a night dive. There’s something terrifying about seeing one at night in that black water. You don’t see them coming until they’re right next to you.
Yea for the most part sharks arent too scary but as ofcourse context is key, but its worth nothing that a lot of the sharks tend to be nocturnal and hunt at night. Doesnt really change things too much but they are more likely to be more active. But cool dive seeing that small torpedo was pretty awesome same with the squid! Now you need to find a place where the bioluminescence is active makes for a much more amazing experience
It would! But I wonder if it wouldn't backfire a bit since there was so much sand stirred up in the water and it would reflect back. But if it had a really strong narrow beam that'd be awesome! My lights are already pretty bright though so it'd need to be super bright haha

Courage is similar to toughness. Being tough isn’t the absence of pain just like courage isn’t the absence of fear.
Great video, we have lots of cool crabs here too. I can’t believe they didn’t make an appearance. I catch an assortment of crabs in the sound and Escambia bay near docks, rocks, and piers. I don’t enjoy catching them by hand/net in the Gulf as much.
I’ve accidentally caught so many of those cute puffer fish in the sound! Not fun to unhook. Stay safe and have fun! Keep sharing your adventures with us 😊
yeah, no crabs that night - maybe because it was winter time? I'm really not sure! But I've seen plenty of them in the beaches around the area
Yooo is this Navarre? I used to live there and a quarter mile pier in the Gulf definitely fits the bill. Can't wait to watch this, you're absolutely crazy lol
you mad man why do you do this? i hate just the thought of how deep and big and dark oceans can be. but to do this? diving in and recording? i salute you man. respect ❤
Sometimes ya just gotta stick your head in some weird places to see the beauty in the world. I don't recommend the average person just up and go do this though - but I'm happy I can make a video about what I saw and share it with folks! Thanks man
Your narration gives me the feeling of watching a nature documentary on the old-school Discovery channel, which I find oddly comforting
No way, that's awesome to hear! Thank you!
What a terrifying idea!
amazing as always!
Hey bro I love the video, I’m from exactly where your diving at never dove there but I’m looking forward to stay safe out there !
@@JSP_JustStayPatient Thanks so much! Oh awesome - and yes, will do :)

I’ve always wondered about pier night life but I’ll never dive that so thank you for your service
@@bluneptune89 Haha no problem, glad I could be of service. I’m not going back anytime soon haha

Nice vid! I live in the Florida panhandle too🤘🏽
@@GoldenAircraft310 Thank ya! Some lovely spots up there!
Bro has balls of steel😭
This is my greatest fear, as irrational as it is. Good for you for tackling it head on!
I went Snorkling with my uncle once at a beach called “Crash Boat” in Puerto Rico. He was a faster swimmer than me so I had to catch up. The water was foggy but we were snorkeling until I saw a weird cable filled with moss and I started panicking! I don’t know why but I just swam as fast as possible as I could back to shore. I still snorkel but I think I do it with fear. Great video too man!
Never again for me. Snorkeled a 4 ft deep batch reef. My light attracted plankton which attracted minnows which brought in Ballyhoo. My hand was the start of a food chain. Lol.
Haha yeah in that kind of environment I image lights would definitely attract all sorts of things. I think a combination of the conditions and just the nature of life of the FL coast my lights weren't drawing much in
You’re a braver man than me, you have inspired me to go for a snorkel tomorrow…in the dayligt😂
@@maxsorrell1451 Awesome that’s the goal! Not everybody needs to go at night haha
Man haven been diving in a few years, but the only night dive I did started just before sunset so we ended the dive pretty much as soon as it became pitch black. Night diving is not for me lmao we did see an octopus that changed from purple to white in the blink of an eye then dipped. Props to you for this awesome dive!
@@Heybudwatsurproblem Thank you! Super cool about the octopus - but yeah night diving is understandably not for everyone
You're in my town, you're also very brave for going to the end
That’s a really cool video. Thank you for scaring yourself to entertain us lol.
Haha no problem, but I'm not gonna do this again for a looong time
Big balls bro, captivating.
Way to go to places average people do not, and thanks for sharing! :)
@@bfgivmfith Thank you! I think there is a lot of beauty hiding beneath the surface where lots of folks might not bother to look. Happy to capture a bit of it with my camera and share it :)
Great video keep up the good work
