He’s not low energy. He’s just mature. The older and wiser you get, the more you don’t feel the need to impress or pretend. He’s just being real. Every reaction, everything said, real! I wish I could be like that now! He ain’t got nothing to prove! He’s had his peak. He’s had his success. He’s a seasoned comic and a pioneer. Samuel L Jackson is like this in interviews as well. I just love people who are unapologetically themselves.

Who said 'low energy'? He is reserved, even more reticent, which is a nice personality to have. Eddie, Robert De Niro and Martin Lawrence are all like that.
I’ve noticed that Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence are so calm in interviews. But their stand up shows are totally different. They have a whole different personality
Desi Davis Yeah, they are great comedians but kind of boring on talk shows. The hosts have to work extra hard to engage with them. I’m so curious about how SNL will go.

@@TitoTimTravels 48 hours had just come out and Nick Nolte was supposed to host the show, but was ill, so they tapped Eddie to step in and host.
He hosted in 1982 as a cast member and returned to host in 1984 once Beverly Hills Cop came out.

The reason for him hosting while being part of the cast was because the intended host, his "48 Hours" co-star Nick Nolte, had fallen ill, so someone needed to fill in fast.
