@@codathompson342 If we're talking about belting, no it's not. He had to sing "soul of a man" and "Step One" a half step down from the original when he played Charlie in Kinky boots.
It’s such good staging I want to cry, I keep showing it to people but they don’t get how brilliant it is because they aren’t huge theatre nerds like me. I love when shows capture strange moments that happen in your head-like how this is Evans experience with feeling anxious and excluded from the whole world-because it stirs really deep emotions in the audience, and actually pulls us into the storyline. it’s such a powerful tool.
Don't think that I like Dear Evan Hansen more than Hamilton. I love all my children equally, it's just that Dear Evan Hansen is the little baby that needs my constant attention right now.
Really? I felt Hamilton is getting to much love. I think DEH deserves a little more attention, even though everyone is now like "AWE WHY IS BEN PLATT LEAVING I LOVED HIM!" And they didn't even care until now, DEH is about what teenagers could go through. That's why I think it needs more love.
Ben Platt is adorably awkward. That alone is enough to make me love this show, not even considering the amazing message, music, and rest of the cast. DEH is officially one of my new favorite obsession.
This is the first time I have seen actual video of the show - those projections are really cool, and the lighting design in general is really cool! I sense a Tony nod...
OddUndeniably yess it was so cool, when the shows about to start the original iPhone ringtone plays and the call app icon pops up on the screen. I just thought that was clever for them to do that cause most theaters just announce that the show is going to start
PowerGlove79 I feel, I'm from SC and don't have the money for a ticket much less a trip to New York. I have to wait for a touring production to come around but this might sell out pretty quickly once that happens :(
Moozie well it makes sense that a modern play about modern-day problems such as suicide and anxiety would be more relatable that a play focused on one of our founding fathers in the 1700's
Ok first off I'm already obsessed over a musical that I have heard one complete song of. Second, did anyone else lose their minds over the lighting & projections at 1:29? Like I literally replayed that cue 5 times just because of how amazing it is
they should just,,, professionally record the whole show ??? it'll take a day or two at the most and since they have a lot of it done anyways for promotional material, they could just do the whole ??? thing ???
Hvitur no one watches bootlegs to avoid paying, they watch bootlegs because otherwise they’ll never see it because they can’t afford/dont live in the area. maybe professional bootlegs that can be bought make more sense
@@blueraptorbird6243 They could release it after the show closed. Then again, it started at London West End not too long ago. I'm pretty sure tho they still would make crazy money by selling Dvd's. Plus it would perhaps prevent a shitty movie-adaptation
@@blueraptorbird6243 I think watch a show and beeing actually here is different than watching it on a DVD, and that's why people are still going to buy tickets for the show. I live in France and we don't have any way to see those shows, that makes me very sad. So if I could have just a DVD recording, that would be awesome and make it easier to help other people discover musical theatre :)
Also, there’s separate rights negations that have to happen when a show is filmed and sold. Every contract would need to be renegotiated, which obviously has been done, but the producers need to be 1000% sure they’ll get a return on the investment
I start crying every time waving through a window gets to the one part where everything stops and then the music crashes and the lights flash and everything because I relate to that so much, when he tries to walk to the other side of the line and the people just turn the other way omfg this musical just gets me, I'm amazed to find a show that understands what it feels like.
Going to see it in one week from now. Is the sound as good as in youtube ? the reason I'm asking, many singers when perform in real stage, the sound sucks.? Reply
the sound in real life is even better than in this video because the standards are set very high for broadway performers, pop stars may be able to get away with lip synching and mediocre singing but that's not the case for broadway, everybody in this cast is an incredible singer, you won't be disapointed
yeah, you can go and wait by the stage door after the show, they'll be barricades set up so it's not hard to find and you can ask for pictures and autographs, it's a fun time and everyone in the cast is really nice
This musical gave me stomach pains. Like I feel like throwing up. like damn Phillip's death didn't hurt me this bad. Like I can't breathe correctly after watching words fail and watching Evan have a breakdown.
josie offutt Well, Next to Normal is still by far my favorite musical of all time, but DEH really is something quite incredible! I mean before I even listened to the cast album I only read the synopsis on Wikipedia and I was already crying!
I'm so in love with this show and Ben Platt's incredible performance. I've seen it three times now and wish I could see it everyday of my life. What a wonderful story and Evan is such a relatable character for me.
I got to watch both Hamilton and Dear Evan Hansen with fantastic seats. While Hamilton was enjoyable to watch and listen to. This show really had an impact on me. Just the realness of the characters and the tone it set was so intense that you can really relate to the characters and you feel the pain they feel. It is truly a moving musical and the cast performances were absolutely amazing i would watch it 1000 more times if given the opportunity. Same with Hamilton
I'm saying it only cause I WANT TO SEE IT; But they should make a movie based on this, but like how they did Rent. They did good with that and should use actual Broadway actors

I only saw half the first time. But now I am back here by browsing different videos of the show out of desperation for word of mouth.

Good thing there is a movie coming out with the original cast

I would be happy if Ben Platt would do the national tour
Manuel Orozco And the rest of the cast too

I want to meet Ben so bad tbh
Emma Crichton same
I need to see this before it gets popular and tickets are a million dollars.
