I am heartbroken to let you all know that we very unexpectely lost my beloved horse Champ. Fly high gorgeous boy xx
Here I share my journey from a complete novice horse rider to now competing at horse of the year (HOYS) shows whilst being a completely self-taught equestrian.
I have failed so many times over the years but always learnt something from it, I hope that my UA-cam channel will be able to help teach you all the little bits that nobody seems to share and help progress you on your riding journey quicker than I did on mine.

I compete my 4 Welsh section D cobs regularly in both in hand and ridden showing, from local level shows, affiliated, WPCS, RIHS, to HOYS qualifiers,

Exact same scenario this past July...my 20 year old. I know exactly how you feel. Difference here is - he's my last horse. I cannot do this ever again. My love to you and your horses.

He was the first horse that I’ve lost that I had no choice over and it’s been so hard to deal with xx
@@KarenBadrick1 it is very difficult...but does ease somewhat in little steps, & then a leap and then a standstill, a reversion & then to baby step again. There are moments that I revert but coming to the other side & remembering the great times with him does get easier & faster with time. It will for you too. There's no easy/ correct way to mourn...just allow yourself the ups and downs.
It's easier to sell one to a good home, no matter how hard that is too !!( Sold 9)
We lost his 30 yr old brother 2 years ago, & our daughter's 19 yr old 11 yrs ago. We have such lovely 🌹 memories of them all......... our pastures and stalls are now all empty.
But......
Now, we're okay & have a great deal to be thankful for ! 😊😁
The greater we love the more we mourn. And we loved fully.

so so sorry i know exactly how you feel and how traumatic it is, im crying with you, i lost my boy in the same situation i left him in the morning totally fine, exactly like champ the painkillers just didnt touch it , by 8 that night hed gone , nothing can prepare you for the sudden loss , the shock is beyond words, the pain in your heart unbearable , take it easy , i wont say it gets easier with time because i dont think it does but just hang onto those good memories and know you gave him the best life and care xx

some vets do say to take the horse for a drive if they have mild colic as the motion can sometimes ease the pain x

The pain in your voice 💔 😢 I lost my mare very suddenly so I understand. The big difference being my mare was 23 were as champ was only young 😢 just doesn't seem fair at all that poor boy. I'm just so very sorry. I know we all keep typing those words to you, and although it's comforting that people care, it just doesn't take the pain away 💔 I felt exactly the same.
You just want to crawl into a little ball, don't you, and disappear for a while, but you can't, especially when you have other ponies relying on you. If I lived closer, I'd have come and helped out myself if I could. Just please know we are all here for you, Karen. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you need to talk about it . Us equestrians all pull together in times like these. So please reach out if you need xx

Karen, the pain in your voice was so gut wrenching. There are just no words.... I just don't know what to say. The shock, the feeling of helplessness, God bless you from the bottom of my heart. You did ALL anybody could possibly do. Your love for him was unconditional. He couldn't have had a better owner. @@KarenBadrick1 I know. Right now you need time to heal. One day Champs legacy will find you.... and you will know instinctively when he or she comes along. I truly believe that. I lost a pure white horse in a volcanic eruption in the Philippines many years ago, we were evacuated and horses left behind, they all drowned in volcanic ash. (my hubby was in U.S Military there) 25yrs later an advert caught my eye for no reason..... Went to see the horse.... Pure white, so similar to my Paco who died. Uncanny, bought him on the spot. 8ys on still have him. They find their way back to you one way or another..... 🤗🤗🙏❤️

Just came across your page, my condolences on your loss, feels like a big hole suddenly appears in the middle of your life. On top of that you beat yourself with a big guilt stick, even though there wouldn't have been anything you could have done. My sweet boy passed away while the vet was trying to get back to us, apparently it had been a higher than normal amount of call outs to the vets for colic that morning, the vet was coming back from a foal that had it too. Take care, it does get bearable after time, along time... 💔💜🌈

Just heartbreaking. All our worst nightmares 💔 I am so so sorry for yours and your families loss Karen. He seemed like the most beautiful pony with so much ahead of him. 😓
We had a horse with peritonitis a couple of years ago and just by sheer luck our vet had treated the first case he'd seen in years just the week before so it was forefront of his mind and we managed to catch it super early to save him. Every horse I've heard of since then with it though, hasn't been able to survive it. Too many cruel illnesses that take them far too soon. RIP Champ.

The pain yr feeling will be so raw now but in time it will lol ease a little. Get through one day at a time and if you need to cry then let it out. He was a beautiful boy and a real credit too you. At least you knew for sure before you had to decide. I find the second guessing is harder than taking the loss.
Things happen in life and we don’t always know why or have an explanation.

This is so heartbreaking every horse owners worst nightmare but you did everything possible to save him and at the end of the day that’s all anyone can do. You gave him a wonderful life. @sarahjones-jf4pr it’s such a weird feeling isn’t it, I miss champ so much I still can’t bring myself to empty his stable as I feel like that’s closing the door on him, I know he’s not coming back but I just still can’t bring myself to do it (I don’t need the stable empty anytime soon)

Oh no can anyone tell me what happened to him! Sorry for your loss.
He got colic but wasn’t responding to treatment, we went to horsey hospital where they found him to have an internal bleed

I’m so sorry I recently lost two of my horses, we is up thanking you for putting him out of his pain. ❤️❤️
Any time i hear/see a horse rolling in pain i think colic, and immediately think of doing a water/oil enema on them, to flush out anything stuck/binding, etc. makes me wonder if he just didnt drink enough water and the foodstuffs in him got too dry, accumulated in the colon (enlarged) and was too dry, painful to push OUT? like an impacted dry constipation which backed up and enlarged the colon...
He was given fluids on the first visit,
We tried everything we could to save him x
oh im sure; likely by the time it was even noticed, the internal damage was already done. A prey animal will instinctively hide any abnormality, likely. @@KarenBadrick1
