Spend the morning with us whilst we wait for the vet to come and visit our young horse Donut,
Its finally time for him to have his vetting for his stallion licence, how did he get on?

Here I share my journey from a complete novice horse rider to now competing at horse of the year (HOYS) shows whilst being a completely self-taught equestrian.

I compete my 4 Welsh section D cobs regularly in both in hand and ridden showing, from local level shows, affiliated, WPCS, RIHS, to HOYS qualifiers,
Willow - 11yr old Welsh section D - Sooty palomino
Gambler - 9yr old Welsh section D - Black roan
Champ - 7yr old Welsh section D - Buckskin
Donut - 2yr old Welsh section D - Chestnut roan
I am a completely self-taught horse rider who has a big dream to compete at HOYS, why not follow my journey to see if we can make it,

My vets the same. Usually give 30mins to 45mins notice unless I ask for a specific time but they charge more. Love your videos 😊

I wish everyone who wanted to keep their horse entire had to apply for a stallion license not just for showing! Congratulations on keeping your manhood Donut 🤣 my vets do the same; it's a massive pain in the bum!!xx
Yes I’m the same, I think there should be a license for everyone to get to keep stallions as there not the easiest to deal with sometimes so there should be some tests done to keep them xx

Congrats about Donut🎉. My vet always gives an approximate time with the understanding that it can be delayed during foaling season or due to an emergency😊

That I wouldn’t mind at all, and emergency’s happen so that’s fine if there is a delay,
Waiting round all day is something I’m not to good at 😂

My vet is the same, half an hour notice which can be pretty frustrating when I live 20mins away and my horse is at the bottom of a big hill haha

Why is it when your in a rush the horse is always at the furthest point away in the field 😂
I wish they were stricter about gelding males here than they are. There are no inspections that I have never known of. You just make a decision yourself.

Technically you can keep a male entire if you want to without a licence, but if you want to show it then it must be licensed

My vet always gives me a time frame, often a specific time, which , of course,if an emergency occurs, may change

I wish this vet would give me a time frame as then I could plan my day round it better, they seem like a brilliant surgery but waiting all day for a phone call is not fun 😂

My vet is exactly the same karan, they are good but it's very annoying, as I live an hour away from where my horses are stabled.
Oh no, that makes it so much harder for you then,
I am lucky I live 5 mins away but it just means I can’t get on and do anything else during the day x
@KarenBadrick1 yeah it's not ideal at times, just means literally spending the whole day at the yard waiting. Your definitely very lucky to live only five minutes away, it's very difficult though to get things done when your just spent waiting with no idea of time. Congratulations on doughnut passing stage 1 of his stallion licence can't wait to see his progress 🥰
