    I hope you enjoy this video of me getting my horse Willow prepped and ready to compete at BSPS area 15 horse show
    Here I share my journey from a complete novice horse rider to now competing at horse of the year (HOYS) shows whilst being a completely self-taught equestrian.
    I have failed so many times over the years but always learnt something from it, I hope that my UA-cam channel will be able to help teach you all the little bits that nobody seems to share and help progress you on your journey quicker than I did on mine.

    Having read your story with Willow I can see he trusts you completely and it’s so nice to see him looking happy - my pony loves to chew his reins too 😊 - it’s so annoying when they go a little uneven you could try something with a natural anti inflammatory in I don’t know what you have in the UK - also I get a little homesick when I watch you ride out brings back so many memories 😊 well done you are an elegant rider

      Yes the grass is coming through quickly now, I’ve had to put champ and donut in there summer field to start eating some down but left gambler and willow in there winter fields as they just get to fat xxx

      Karen what is willows colour called? Very unusual. Willow seems to hold his tail to one side? Why does he do this karen. Are you in Herts. Looks like Herts? Oh he's a lazy boy😂😂 All welshies are greedy. 😂😂a nd fatties. Take a lot of wieght management dont they..😂

    You both looked immaculate, couldn't help notice he was holding his tail slight to one side, sometimes indicates back pain,new to your channel so I don't know if maybe his way of going, worth a mention.

    • @KarenBadrick1

      Thank you
      Yes he always holds his tail to the right, the physio says it’s just the way he is as she can find absolutely no reason for him to do this, x

      @KarenBadrick1  Рік тому +2

      Yes definitely worth a mention as there will be people out there who don’t understand what a wonky tail could mean, I didn’t know untill I had a saddle fitter out when I first brought him as I’d never had a horse with it before then,
      Thank you so much for pointing it out x

      Thank you, yes he is all fine now luckily,
      I use a little bit of brylcream (just buy it at savers / b&m) to stop it flying about so much x

    Hi, I have my first walk trot canter show coming up rather soon and I’m getting a bit nervous. I’d love it if you could make a video on errors you can make in the ring and what to do about them, an example would be getting the wrong canter lead, breaking the canter too early, forgetting the course. If you could make this I’d be so thankful! It’s just an encouragement show so it’s really no big deal and just for a confidence boost and for experience and I’m on a lovely (rather lazy) lesson pony so I’m not really worried about falling or anything.

    • @KarenBadrick1
      @KarenBadrick1  Рік тому +2

      Hi
      That’s brilliant, just remember everyone has to start somewhere and we’re all nervous at our first try,
      Enjoy it and ask for any feedback from the judge,
      Yes I’m more then happy to make a video on this for you, but for now I will give a brief overview for you
      Wrong canter lead- bring back to trot and ask again, you will be marked down for not acknowledging your on the wrong leg but if you change to the right leg the judge may over look it.
      Breaking canter to early / forgetting the course - if your doing a flat ridden show like I do, at local shows you will pick your own show so the judge doesn’t know when you should be cantering ect, so if you make a mistake they won’t know so style it out and make out it was meant to go that way x

    hey Karen - what saddle do you use on willow? I currently have a saddle company working hunter but it's not very comfortable and im looking to get a nice close contact show saddle fitted. I've heard good things about Black country saddles but wondering if you have any advice? :)

    • @KarenBadrick1

      Hiya
      I also used to have a saddle company saddle on willow but he out grew it so we now have a Black Country on him and it’s been amazing, so comfy and suits him so well x
