Magazine compatibility is a big one, and I'm glad it came up. Your thoroughness and attention to detail are just a couple of the things that set your channel above most others.
The thing I love about the Equalizer is the fact that the Shield Plus magazines work with it. I like how Mac carries the Shield while you are carrying the Equalizer!!
Thank you for showing the Equalizer. I bought this in October, really like it. The grip safety kind of forces you to have the correct grip. I am 67 and have beat up hands from many years as a nurse. The rack is easy for me. I really like having the 3 mags, 10, 13, 15 and the Uplula loader. Glad you showed this one. I carry in my corset holster mostly, occasionally carry in my Gun Totin Mamas purse. I do have to switch the mag release to the other side as I am a lefty. Thanks to you both for all of your help great videos😎
Thanks for your opinion, just saw the equalizer today. Lefty also, thinking of replacing my 365 XL for it. Because of the slide and my athletic in my south paw hand !🤠🇺🇸
My Equalizer shot left with the stock sights as well. Though it was me and my grip. I added an EPS Carry Red Dot. Looking through the optics I can see the stock sights at the bottom and it points to the right of the red dot. So if I used the iron sights it would shoot left.
Thank you sooo much Stav for reviewing this handgun. I have it. I shot it for the first time last week. I kid you not…mine is doing the exact same thing, shooting to the left. I left the range feeling horrible. I went to the dealer to ask if anyone has had trouble with theirs and of course they told me no. Told me to eat, buy a dark target, to relax and I agreed because I was in the mist of 4 men who were all looking at me as if I told them the gun started talking to me.🤷🏾♀️ My grouping was good, but it was off to the left. I go again tomorrow and will eat, relax and shoot on a dark target, if I’m still to the left…I’m taking weapon to dealer along with your video to show them…it might be a S&W thing and if they can fix it, I’d appreciate it. Thanks for the video and videos, I enjoy them greatly.
I just looked at the sites with a very keen eye and realized that the front sight is slightly to the right and not dead center in the middle of the slide. That would definitely cause the pistol to shoot to the left. You should check out your front sight and see if it's dead center in the slide or if it's the same problem we have......mac
My Equalizer also shot to the left out of the box. I was perplexed because the rear sight was centered. However, the front sight was offset to the right by 0.02" and when the sight was centered the gun shot to Point of Aim.
I bought mine with the external thumb safety. The grip and thumb safeties and single action internal hammer fire makes this firearm very safe to carry and very quick to fire, similar to my Colt Combat Commander .45acp I carried for over 40 years. The Equalizer is a very accurate and great EDC.
A little longer barrel means more velocity. Sight radius is longer too. It also keeps the butt of the gun from wanting to tilt outward. The Equalizer uses Shield+ magazines and has 10, 13, and 15 round mags included. The rear sight has a set screw underneath, if it's like the EZ, and you can adjust the rear sight with just an Allen wrench. Is a gun shooting a little left or right a big deal? Move the sight a tad and Bob's your uncle. Grip safety: My wife shot a couple hundred rounds through her EZ before she noticed it had a grip safety. When holstering, put your thumb on the back of the slide and you are not depressing the grip safety... can't go off... ESPECIALLY for carry in a belly-band (as a lot of women do). It's a nice safety feature and if you have any even half decent grip on the pistol, it'll fire. Carry: This gun conceals very well because it's so slim. I don't carry this, but my wife carries the 9 EZ every day. Controls: I can rack the slide with my index finger on the front sight. Yes, one finger. The gun is big enough that the controls are reasonable to use (unlike the micro-nines), and you can reload without your hand being in the way. The Equalizer lacks the EZ-Load magazines of the Shield 9 EZ, but it comes with a mag loader.
@@BillNye1973-yv1hr The EZ has a screw UNDER the rear sight, in that big cavity in the slide where the hammer travels. Not sure if the Equalizer is the same.
@@HalfCrazy520 well i will look again and pull it apart. the one on top is interesting though i dont know what that would be for. ill do more research. thank you
Great video guys. I love how you cover all the basic carry techniques and thought processes on carrying concealed. My thoughts on the point of impact. I know S&W sent you the gun and maybe drifting the front or rear sight might not be "allowed". But if you have a laser bore sighter, pop that in and see if the sights are off as it seems they are. Even if the rear sights are centered, maybe the front sights are not. Just a thought. I use digital calipers to measure mine bcuz it is more accurate to spot tiny differences.
Recently I visited a gun store for the very first time in my entire life and I was a nervous wreck throughout the visit. However i am thrilled I stumbled onto your video because of the guns i tried on visit, I was unsuccessful in wracking any of the slides on the pistols. Since you're introducing the Equalizer and you mentioned the S&W MP, I'll give those a try in trying to manipulate the slides. As a man I was like mannn, maybe I need to start working out...lol! My knees were shaking and heart rate was immense just visiting the store. I gather I may have a mountain to climb to shoot a gun, much less to buy one...the adventure continues however. Thank you for the information shared and the insight given...
I absolutely love your videos. We live in Ohio. For what ever reason, I couldn't get your link to the sticky holsters. Thank you and God Bless you both.
I've had the Equilizer for about a year now. I slowly transitioned to it from the Super Carry. I love it. Thanks for showing the different holsters. I think I've told you before that im 4"11. So im going to try the Sticky Hollister. ❤
You are so nice ! I’ve been a revolver goy since the early 80’s. Foolishly sold the BiG Boys, and settled with A Ruger 22 Convertible lr & Mag……So nice ! Peace ……be well @Kevvy
I've been through many subcompact pistols in the last few years and find the Ruger Max 9 and the Smith & Wesson Shield Plus to be the two best I have come across.
The little guns you’re shooting in these videos all look so snappy. Reminds me of why I prefer to carry bigger guns. I like to sacrifice a little more comfort so I have a gun that I know I can run well. I hate shooting little guns. But I’m also not a 5’2” female, and I don’t think that everyone has to have the same needs and preferences when it comes to ccw.
NDZ Performance makes a grip safety that when you push it in with your hand it is flush with the grip don't even feel it , easy peasy to install the light rail grind It Off , I've done it to other pistols
I like a shorter slide, especially carry appendix and you sit down. Like they say, whoever they is ? Different strokes for different folks. Your just showing people, you have many options. So pick wisely for your particular needs. Great video. On camera , looks like your shooting longer distances than probably most concealed threats.
Great content. I forward a lot of your content to my wife and sister because perspective from a woman to women validates your information and they can relate better.
My Springfield XD has a reputation for grip safety problems. I've never taken it apart to see how it works but my Glocks don't have the grip safety so I trust them a bit more. I have done detail strips on all my 1911's & that's a robust grip safety that's not gonna give problems. I do like the Equalizer's easy slide manipulation though. I do agree, Smith needs to figure out the left grouping thing; my Shield Plus did it too. One thing I'd like to see more is reloading from slide lock. I've been taught never to reholster an empty gun. Love your willingness to try different guns & show them to your students. I hope your academy is doing well.
Looks like the 9mm has a lot of recoil for you. You should try a ported and/or integrated compted slide pistol. Shield Plus has the ported barrel (I have the 4" ported Shield Plus) & Sig has the compted slides. Obviously a larger pistol would also help. But because of the size/weight/accuracy/recoil/reliability factors I pocket carry the P365. But I do see the 380 as the better choice for some people that have any kind of trouble with the 9mm.
Yes!! Mac suggested that before we started filming but I wanted to shoot it as you would get it when purchased. And show that it could snag on certain holsters. But if I carried this as my EDC I’d definitely do that!
I purchased an EZ 380 Performance Center for my wife to train with, and it shoots ridiculously to the left. So much so that I thought I was crazy. I had to move the sites completely to the right side limits to be able to get close. Thank you for pointing out that it wasn’t me, it’s Smith and Wesson. BTW, I also have a 9 mm easy performance center that shoots straight
Just started watching your channel a few months ago. Thinking about getting a weapon to carry. After handling a few guns, the P365 Sig Sauer has gotten some positive impressions from me. Easy slide lock release. No silly trigger lock in the middle of the the trigger!
If you used a more crossed thumbs grip with your smaller hands you would probably manage recoil better and would be training yourself to hold the gun with one hand and your support hand is just a bonus
Have you ever tried using a ransom rest to confirm the sight issue? Another way to adjust your shooting to get a more accurate picture maybe is to start out at a much shorter distance.3 to 5 yards and back out and see what range the weapon seems more accurate and where it falls off on paper. I think the majority of low left shooting has something to do with the thinner grip and shorter barrel and sight picture for the most part if you believe your grip technique is solid and you vision, and sight picture is 100%.
I considered the Equilizer and the CSX. Didn’t like the palm safety on the Equilzer. The CSX didn’t feel right. Checked the Shield Plus 9 mm and the dealer showed me that the 15 round magazine fit the Shield plus along with the 10 and 13 round magazines I was sold. Also it had the night sights and optical cut which I put a red dot on it. It is my EDC alone with my H & K P2000.
I have the Walther PPS M2 it's a great gun, and for it being as small as it is, it doesn't have a whole lot of recoil. I don't carry it anymore because the highest capacity magazine you can get is 8 rounds for it, so I carry my glock 48 with 15 round Shield arms mags or my Taurus gx4 carry
Yes! My first CC as well, moved on due to mag capacity increases with micro9s and optic cuts, but every time I pick it up from the safe I saw "wow this feels great in the hand"
I too have a S&W equalizer and I’m wondering how hard is it to mount a Holosun Red Dot on it I can’t find a video on how too mount on the equalizer. If anyone knows how please explain it to me, new gun owner, thank you…..🦋🦋🦋
Mac, I asked last week about checking the Glock 26. This week you referred to the very reason I'm considering that change - the interchangeable magazines. Great minds . . . 😅
Thanks for the video guys, great info i also own a sheild that consistently shoots left. This video help confirm i will need to drift the rear sight to the right on my sheild. Thank you have a good day!
Hello. Thank you for the review . I tried this one today and that was my same reaction to the grip safety but it is nice once you get going. I have small hands too and that same type belly band so thanks for that warning too.
Because of your video selecting the s&w shield p 3.1 I decided to buy one for defense inside my home, and carrying a hellcat is easy to covered. In this video you suggest to have one gun and practice ? Great information thank you for your advice
Dont know if you have answered this question but here it goes What to do and get over frustration/funk at the range when you feel like your shooting is bad and no mater how much you try to correct the things that you might be doing wrong it still is just not it with other words just having a funk when you normally do way better .
Get with a good instructor. A good instructor watching your habits and working you through the training scars and giving you points to drill and work on is invaluable to moving forward in your training. PERFECT practice makes prefect.
id really love to see someone pocket carry one of these in a stick holster or something like a desantis nemesis to see how it would do. im debating between that or buying yet another gun
My mom is very small and NOT strong. She bought the EZ thinking it was the answer to her grip strength problems. She could rack the slide reasonably well, but she was not able to properly defeat the grip safety every time, so it was effectively misfiring every other round-or-so. I shot the gun just fine, and so did my teenage daughter, but that grip safety can challenge anyone with diminished grip strength, which is the target audience for the thing in the first place. I've never shot the Equalizer, but I suspect it would be about the same with the grip safety.
My wife is interested in the belly bands that you mentioned. I couldn't find them listed in the description. Would you mind listing the here for her? Thank you.
Hi...I Love your channel and new to CC. I'm having an issue finding a way to carry my G26 or G43X on me. I found a CanCan thigh holster, and band. Also purchased the D. Adams shorts (inner thigh). I'm a tad shorter than you 5'1 and 130lbs. Should I try the D. Adams corset? However, I don't believe the petite will not accommodate either of my firearms. Do you have the petite corset, because of your height? 😢
Great video. Keep them coming. Now, let me point out that I am a man. I have an Equalizer which I carry in an IWB. The one thing I don't like about it is the grip safety. It seems that I have to make a special attention effort to make sure that the grip safety is fully engaged or else it won't fire. I also have a problem with it shooting high and to the right. Go figure. I'm obviously going to have to make a sight adjustment to it or just bypass the sights and put an optic on it. Unfortunately, I can't adjust the sight for the elevation problem so I'm going to have to use the Kentucky Windage method and aim a little lower. Here's the part that's going to make you mad. I live in a state that allows me to posses a 13 & 15 round magazines. I now own three 15 round magazines which I carry one in the gun and two in a Sticky Magazine pouch that has a flap that fits through my belt. Wish me luck on the correcting the sight problem.
I'm just curious what is the distance ur shooting at? And do you recommend in teaching my wife (on her S&W EZ) to start at closer 21' 1st or 45' in prep for her TX LTC?
Hmm I'm breaking in my full size M&P 2.0 and shooting left....but I can't tell if it's because I'm a newer shooter or not...maybe I need to ask someone experienced to shoot it and see? Really enjoying this series!
I haven't seen all your videos, but what do you think about night sights and/or Red Dot/RMR type sights? I carry an H&K VP9SK with both and love it. A carry gun is probably on the night stand when sleeping and you need to be able to use it with "just woke up eyes".
HATE grabby rails! MUCH prefer low profile rails like on the G19 and USP Compact. I will always put a rail cover on a grabby Picatinny rail if it's not being used to mount a light/laser.
I just got my Equalizer and it seems to shoot high my target, like an inch above what I'm aiming at (at about 7 to 10 yard). Now that you mentioned your test gun hitting a little to the left, I'll watch for that as well. I'd also like to change out the sights for glow in the dark green. Any recommendations for who makes sights to fit my new Equalizer?
Is there a term for hoodies that have sleeves with thumb holes? My sister loves these but I can never find any. Oh, you have merch?!!!! Nice. Thanks for the channel.
it will......But all Semi's do that....Its just worse with the guns that have lighter recoil springs to make raking easier......We will touch on that when we get to the revolvers......Mac
Stav what is the advantages or drawbacks to a 1911. I own a FN 509 and was wondering if I would ever want to own a 1911. I have pretty strong hands for a 65 year old man. Your thoughts and can you ask Matt,s opinion as well
Very different platforms there.....I love 1911's but then again I love revolvers and Striker fire pistols as well as DA/DA.....Soooo I'm a bad person to ask.....Basically at least one 1911 should really be in everyone safe....Its a piece of history......Mac
A bit late of a comment. You stated you are not a huge fan of safeties on your guns. What would the 8 years ago you said about that. And your opinion might change in 10 or so years again. I think with safeties you should put it into context. Experience, age, physical constraints etc. Love your content and channel.
I am not against a grip safety. But I am against a poorly designed grip as is the case with the Eqaulizer. If the grip safety was similar to the grip safety on the venerable 1911 I would currently own an Equalizer.
Samuel Colt created the Peacemaker back vaguely around 1850. And I thought Colt also sold an Equalizer around the same time. Am I confusing brands, or is S&W stealing a historic name? The same way "Springfield Army" used the name of a real federal armory that hat been closed.😢
You can’t claim a name like that as exclusively your brand’s. Springfield is one of the most common names of American cities. It would be one thing if it was something obscure like “Colt Rzs equalizer” and they copy the exact name. And named it the “S&W Rzs equalizer” but it’s not
Academy instructors say low and to the left is trigger squeeze. From a 1500 man sheriff’s department. Work on ur squeeze and don’t change sites. For most shooters anyway.

I too have a S&W equalizer and I’m wondering how hard is it to mount a Holosun Red Dot on it I can’t find a video on how too mount on the equalizer. If anyone knows how please explain it to me, new gun owner, thank you…..🦋🦋🦋
Looks like a good option in the ccw market
Guaranteed that sticky holster flies out if you fall down trying to fight?
Mac, I asked last week about checking the Glock 26. This week you referred to the very reason I'm considering that change - the interchangeable magazines. Great minds . . . 😅
Thanks for the video guys, great info i also own a sheild that consistently shoots left. This video help confirm i will need to drift the rear sight to the right on my sheild. Thank you have a good day!
Good gun thanks for the video
Can the Equalizer and Shield Plus fit in the same holster?
Great video!😇 Can you test the Palmetto Compact? Thank you God Bless
I don't think that one is going to make it into this series.....Mac
Dont know if you have answered this question but here it goes What to do and get over frustration/funk at the range when you feel like your shooting is bad and no mater how much you try to correct the things that you might be doing wrong it still is just not it with other words just having a funk when you normally do way better .
Have you put a red dot on your gun? It made a big positive improvement in my accuracy. I have the equalizer.
Get with a good instructor. A good instructor watching your habits and working you through the training scars and giving you points to drill and work on is invaluable to moving forward in your training.
PERFECT practice makes prefect.
This!! ^ Find an instructor to work with you.
@@SheEquipsHerselfhow much h does it cost, love your videos
I began one one one with a great, experienced instructor last fall. We meet one a week. I wish I would have started with him years ago.
id really love to see someone pocket carry one of these in a stick holster or something like a desantis nemesis to see how it would do. im debating between that or buying yet another gun
So drift the rs right. What's the big deal?
Have you considered trying the Walther PDP-F?
we did a video on it about a year ago. Check out the vid.....Mac
@@bobmacquarrie
I will. I’m not a fan. I carry the PPQ but wasn’t all that excited about the PDP.
Easy fix is a grip wrap....It disengages the grip safety and increases comfort.....Hogue makes them along with some other companies.....Mac
Ruger Security 380
@@bobmacquarrie, such a simple solution. I feel dumb now! Thanks for the suggestion! Will definitely be researching that!
Can anyone suggest a OWB holster for the Equaliser. Can't find one anywhere?
Looking at buying this model. Good info. Tks
Try the H&K P30SK with the LEM trigger. 🙂
Probably not going to test that one but we are testing the H&K VP9 SK-B......Mac
It looks like a M&P compact.
Good information 👍🎯🗽 be safe (both🛡) carry on 🔫🇺🇲
Great video.
Try putting a hogue grip sleeve.....It will hold down the grip safety and make it more comfortable at the same time.....Mac
@@bobmacquarrie Thanks for the tip. Now what about the sights being out of adjustment? Should I use a hammer and punch or a sight pusher?
The Equalizer is my EDC....
Great review!
Equalizer looks like a S&W single stack version of ruger’s security-9 i carry. But S9 doesn’t have the grip safety
I'm just curious what is the distance ur shooting at? And do you recommend in teaching my wife (on her S&W EZ) to start at closer 21' 1st or 45' in prep for her TX LTC?
15yd line 10rds, 10yd line 10 rds, 7yd line 10rds right 10rds left, 5yds 10 rds......Mac
When it comes to teaching people you want to be pretty close...7yds is generally where I start someone new
Hmm I'm breaking in my full size M&P 2.0 and shooting left....but I can't tell if it's because I'm a newer shooter or not...maybe I need to ask someone experienced to shoot it and see? Really enjoying this series!
Try shooting with your other hand. If your still shooting to one side its the gun not the shooter....Mac
@@bobmacquarrie thanks! Will give that a try.
I haven't seen all your videos, but what do you think about night sights and/or Red Dot/RMR type sights? I carry an H&K VP9SK with both and love it. A carry gun is probably on the night stand when sleeping and you need to be able to use it with "just woke up eyes".
Both good ideas......I doubt stav would like Red dots because of the added bulk but we shall see.... Mac
Try changing the weight of the bullets. 147gr 9mm does not hit in the same place as 115gr or 124gr.......We love Trijicon XR night sights......Mac
Is there a term for hoodies that have sleeves with thumb holes? My sister loves these but I can never find any. Oh, you have merch?!!!! Nice. Thanks for the channel.
You mentioned the G42... I'm anxiously awaiting the Bodyguard 2.0 that might be coming from Smith and Wesson... I think that might do the trick.
I am hoping that is a 380 double stack... Basically shield size in 380.....mac
@@bobmacquarrie I am too... I truly love Smith and Wesson firearms.
Will that easy slide easily get out of battery if in a close fighting situation
it will......But all Semi's do that....Its just worse with the guns that have lighter recoil springs to make raking easier......We will touch on that when we get to the revolvers......Mac
How about trying the HK VP9SK. I think you will like it.
Oh yes....We are actually doing the VP9 SK-B......Hopefully Soon.....Mac
That is my carry almost every day
I got me one last year
Stav what is the advantages or drawbacks to a 1911.
@Mac, I only have one 1911. One in .45. One in 9mm. One in 38Super. One 6” longslide. One CCO. One Commander. Only one….
Awesome
I like the shield plus ➕️/ BETTER
How much does it cost, anybody no
I believe mine was about $500
@@wannaduckfin ok,thank you
Cease fire -- man down!!!!!!! 😂😅
A bit late of a comment. You stated you are not a huge fan of safeties on your guns. What would the 8 years ago you said about that. And your opinion might change in 10 or so years again. I think with safeties you should put it into context. Experience, age, physical constraints etc. Love your content and channel.
I will ask again maybe review the SW shield and or Bersa 380
We're going to do the shield plus. Probably not the bersa...mac
Please try the Glock 43x!
Walther PDP F series you love it be your next EDC
Thanks
We already did a video on that about a year ago.....mac
I hope you get a better gun then a glock SW or Ruger
I am not against a grip safety. But I am against a poorly designed grip as is the case with the Eqaulizer. If the grip safety was similar to the grip safety on the venerable 1911 I would currently own an Equalizer.
Puppies :))
