- Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) is a Mountain situated in the Snowdonia National Park in North Wales.
At 1,085m/3,560ft it is both the highest mountain in Wales, and the highest mountain in the British Isles south of the Scottish Highlands.
The element Gwyddfa in the name means "burial cairn" and there are Legends that say the giant Rhita is buried under the mountains summit cairn. Some Legends suggest Rhita was killed by King Arthur, while others claim she was killed by another giant Idris, who lived on the mountain Cadair Idris ("Idris' chair)
The summit can also be reached using the Snowdon mountain Railway, from Llanberis, which makes the Summit probably the busiest in the UK.
