At the end of the day none of them really wanted to throw down. Just posture and look tough. I'm in my 30s now, but in my teens and early 20s I had almost no self control. It took a couple bad fights to change my mindset and adopt more of a stoic approach to most situations. I personally have a background in boxing, and still in good shape. And most important and rarely mentioned by others, know what it feels like to hear ringing in your ears from a blow, fight after getting a tooth dislodged, waking up in the hospital from a concussion, and the pain of shattering your wrist off someone's head etc... all those experiences made me respect the dangers of a street fight. After 30 some street fights, I consider myself extremely lucky I didn't get stabbed, shot, or have to pay anyone's medical bills (I was told the one I fought had to have surgery for his orbital bone being shattered).
Your ego will be your greatest enemy if you allow it to be. It brought me nothing but mental pain and injury. I thankfully recovered, some guys have a far worse fate in life.

I was more of a immature dumbass, than a tough guy. I grew up with a father that condoned violence towards others, and I thought it was just normal behavior and how men settle their differences.
Looking back now, maybe only handful were warranted. The rest were the result of over inflated ego, and the need I had to prove myself to others.

Far from a brag sir. If I can do It all over again, I would of took a more stoic approach to those situations. I'm just thankful I escaped with only minor injuries and no criminal record.

One of the most, if not THE most important concepts in street fighting/survival: you do not know your adversaries ‘rules’. You may think it’s over once you drop him. However he may think it’s just started and it’s a fight to the death and bringing in help and weapons is all part of his concept of ‘the rules’: meaning that: there are NO RULES. I grew up in a large inner city in the US where we used to say: there are NO RULES in a street fight. And it’s because you never know what the ‘other guy’ knows or thinks or his state of mind or state of fairness. Great video doc! Kudos!

A couple of guys decided they wanted to come down and try it out. All over 6ft tall 250 pounds and up. I'm 5'7 and 170 at the time now 180 still training. But when they came down to roll with us. They came in like this will be easy these guys are small. We went at it yes they are strong Iike a bull. Our mentor told us wear them out. Hang in there and make them work. They got gased out less than 5 minutes. Tapped them all out. They never went back down to train. They were pissed that they could not beat us. Weight training is good but not to be bulky. I disagree. If being threatened with violence, and Stax clearly was being threatened with violence, it would likely be considered self defense and not brandishing, though it varies by state here in the US. If attacked and the knife came out and was used, then Stax could be up on some really significant charges. Sometimes brandishing a knife or firearm de-escalates the situation entirely, which is good. No one gets hurt and the attacker has been warned that he will be cut if he attacks. That is pretty clear cut self defense. Plenty of well documented cases of this sort of thing.

We live in times where 9 outta 10 are scared fake loosers who would never dare to do a 1vs1 without weapons, or anyone interfere! They rather pull friends, fam, etc into a fight instead of getting a fist in the face.
And yes there is rules for a street fight or 1vs1. Its basicly a gentleman fight, where both are men enough to not let fam and friends get hurt by starting a war.
A street / gentle man fight is a warrior fight, where others should not interefere! Or use weapons. Thats how warriors gained respect from each others once!
Let the bad air out, and rumble people! Its alright. The emotional pain hurts more than the physical pain if youre a coward and lead it into a war where fam and friends can get hurt by trying to help you.
Jealousi, cowards, and fakers dont pump your self up, if youre not ready to do a gentle / warrior fight 1 vs 1. And dont give an image about your self that youre tough and can fight if you cant. Be humble and settle your self.
Because real warriors are ready and secure about them self to take a 1 vs 1.
But Ben how about if the opponant is a trained fighter, look man warrriors are born warriors. Not made! Anyone can fight. Ive shown it to my friends, fam, and even strangers where i take a 1vs1 against a trained fighter.
I tell him you fight your way, and i fight my way. (in the ring ofcource), and i allways win, not allways by knocking them out. But many times they stop or tap out, because i irritate them, piss em off, use their weight and strenght against them.
I checkmate them, put them in a position where they cant do anything, or make them feel the surpreme speed and strength! Let them know im above you, and im not pro trained.. Only been in the army, and grew up taking out bullies.
    And my technique is combined!
I my self have got punched etc, but make sure not to take the full power of the punch, allways move around. A little blood np, just dont faint.
I hate to prag, but you all have to know.
And i get this sensai is praparing you for anything, and that people are low lifed fake bums who have no honor of a true warrior.
But a true warrior knows the rules of a 1vs1 honorable fight!
Allways live by it, unless these coward play dirty. Then they opened the door for you to show them what dirty is!
But unfortunatly it will lead to a war where many will get hurt, unless you walk with the shadows.
What is the rules of a 1vs1 warrior fight, 1 no weapons. 2 no one interfere / no no to popo also. 3 fight until 1 give up or get knocked out. Like this you are both equal, and free to use your own techniques. Thats a true warrior / gentleman! He gets motivated by hes huge heart (not wanting hes men, friends, or fam to get hurt, and not hidding behinde them). Even feels sorry for hes opponant.
There was a time when men did a 1 vs 1 where they even helped each others up, and didnt kick on a man whos laying down. And even shaked hands or gave each other a hug when the fight was over.
Its a cool way to gain or give respect, and make friends.
But today 9 outta 10 men remindes me of women!
Sensei i hope you would take this topic up one day, even tho you want to prepare people / students for the worst. And dont worry teaching them the ways of the warrior will not cause trouble.... Matter fact it will bring back the spirit of a warrior, and what a man means.
People stop being cowards. And to these who fear so much to be punched, its alright you dont have to pump and make an image about your self that youre a warrior. Youre not less of a man if you like to paint for example. Its alright if youre a lover and not a fighter. Stop hidding behinde your fam, friends, weapons, and be real.
Honostly i would never protect that kinde of people! All my friends are ready for a 1 vs 1. We even fight for fun and when done and our shirts are bloody we shake hands and hug. Calling each other apes, gorillas, bulls, lions, and laughing at it. Meeting a stranger with same spirit becomes a friend easily.
So my advice is learn the ways of a warrior, and dont protect or be friends with someone fake who hides behinde you and weapons. These are selfish coward people who dont care about their friends, fam, or even children.
    They are passive dependend loosers.
    Good luck.

I follow my own opinion of how to protect myself in combat and don't get involved in outside influences. People are free to think of me what they like as long as I'm able to preserve my life and self dignity. Others judgements, criticisms don't bother me or sway my stance on what I need to do to stay alive.
I can fight. I trained everyday. I workout everyday. But as well as I can fight, Weapons are my first love I always keep tons of weapons on my person like ironman and we can start with that as a starter. If you can get through any of those then we can fight.
Look, you never know what drug someone will be on or have in their veins. You never know what hidden weapon someone may have on their person when they challenge you to a "fair" fight. That ring on a person's finger punching you can do serious damage. My point is F what anyone else thinks, always act like the final boss of a video game when you life is on the line, be ready, free minded enough to kill and you never need to second guess decisions when it comes to protecting yourself.

Exactly. Real life isn't about all this BS. As a lifelong martial artist, I say the best technique is cool headed 2A.

@@thaistomp Yea, I suppose that's how it works. Just saying firearms level the playing field, that's all. If it's not about survival, I don't see the point in personal violence. I certainly don't go for ego boxing.

Honestly I’m with the smaller dude. If you’re bigger and wnna fight, sure, but there’s no such thing as a fair fight
