We just so happened to run into Jeannie at the helicopter parking lot. We had just finished our tour and she was about to leave for hers. Jeannie, I'm so happy to hear you loved the tour. We did as well!
There is no better way to experience a volcano than from a helicopter. But you missed the most awesome part; feeling the heat on your face. 12 years ago I chartered a 4 passenger Hughes 500 (i.e. Magnum PI - TV show) with the doors OFF over the volcano on Hawaii. We spent 20-30 minutes around the volcano and at times were close enough that it almost filled your entire view. Maybe the biggest thrill of my life.
Thank you for this J! When was this filmed? In August? I will be there with my girlfriend in 1 week! I would love to know if its possible to do this still in Oct?
This lookes like the 2021 eruption. I've been there in 2021 and in 2022. The eruption this year went in a different valley and lasted only a couple of weeks. There is nothing to see right now.
Hi Simon! Great idea, I'll add it to my list. In the meantime check out the Reykjavík Food Tour. I've recorded my experience with them here: icelandwithaview.com/reykjavik-food-walk-icelands-highest-rated-food-tour/ Also, my favorite restaurants are Fish Market (Reykjavík - www.fiskmarkadurinn.is/en), Ingólfsskáli Viking Restaurant (near Hveragerði - ingolfsskali.is/), and Pakkhús (Höfn - pakkhus.is/)
Hi! Me and a friend have booked a trip for the crossover between February and March, is the weather reasonable during this time? Or is it a bit hit or miss
Hi Thomas! Late February and early March is definitely hit or miss but also a great time to see the northern lights and have a decent amount of daylight for all of your other adventures. Keep an eye on weather at vedur.is/ and road conditions at www.road.is/
Absolutely amazing 🤩 I have a question? Is the month of September a good time to visit Iceland? I’m just trying to avoid all the touristy crowds 😅, which time of the year would you recommend, thank you for your help 🙏
Hi Luis! Thanks for watching! Anytime of the year is a great time to visit Iceland, depending on what you want to see. Check this out for more info: icelandwithaview.com/best-time-visit-iceland-case-seasons/
Hi I am your big fen in youtub Nice meet to you !! I have one question there I wanna go there next Jun maybe ..unfortunately I not use to driving ㅠ how is it driving easy to ring road, as like me who not use to be driving
Driving in June is a great time to drive the ring road. You shouldn't have too much trouble with ice and snow on the roads. There are a lot of potholes to watch out for and you may have a good number of drivers on the road since June is a popular time to visit Iceland. Another option for you, if you're unsure about driving is to join tour groups for day trips. Most tours will pick you up in Reykjavík and bring you back. Flybus is a great way to get to your hotel after landing and can take you back to the airport before heading home.
I’m going in a few weeks and I’d love to see lava . I contacted this expert lady and she told me is very unpredictable to figure if I’ll see running lava or not 😢 does anyone did anything similar without running lava? Is it still Cool?
Hi there! Seeing flowing hot lava is unbelievable and a memory I'll never forget! However, the volcano hasn't erupted since early fall and yes, it is very unpredictable. Maybe you'll get lucky and it will wake up when you're traveling! Otherwise, I'd save the money of a helicopter tour and visit the LAVA Centre museum in Hvolsvöllur (lavacentre.is/) or the Icelandic Lava Show in Vík í Mýrdal (icelandiclavashow.com/). Also, taking a helicopter ride in the winter ~ there's a good chance your flight will be cancelled because of the weather. I hope you get to see some lava and have the best trip ever!
Hi John! Most basic helicopter tours are between $350 - $400 USD. Some tour operators also offer longer flights and glacier landings. I think that you should say that the volcano is NOT erupting at the time that you posted this so that people are not disappointed. If the weather is good it is possible to get to near the crater by hiking although with winter coming it probably isn't advisable. We hiked up in early September 2022. No lava but it was still incredible.
“Waterfalls” of lava into the valley-what a sight❤
This was way too cool.😁 Loved seeing Fagradalsfjall during last year's eruption, but nothing tops an aerial view!

I just got back from my trip thank you so much for all of the videos you have been a huge help.
Hey Rickie, that's awesome I'm so glad I could help and be a part of your Iceland experience! 😊
Very cool. Thank you!
Very cool indeed
Wow! the image of the active part of the crater was awesome! I can't even imagine living somewhere where just a short drive away is an active volcano.
Enjoyed that! Thank you!
Love this! Yes I’m also wondering when you filmed! ❤

Yeah…when was it filmed? And do you have a discount code for this heli tour?

Very interesting. Would have loved to hear your commentary as you were driving though.
Beautiful!!!
Truly an excellent video. Now I HAVE to go lol
YES! You won't be sorry!

Took that tour yesterday!! On another note, last weeks wind storm was crazy, I thought my Airbnb was going to flip! 😅
Question: is there still lava flow as of today (30 March 2023)?
Nope! No eruptions since August 2022
How much was it

@@IcelandwithaView Thank you!
Of course, the volcano starts erupting after I get back. Thanks for the video.
I was thinking the same thing I have been home two weeks. Darn

Link is not working!
Amazing and moving. It's hard to believe only a few months ago, we hiked the same (dormant) volcano. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Can't hear anything you say in half the video
The volcano is not active now in October. Don't be dishonest!
