Searching for 140 year old Gravesite (Henry Chad Christian)

  • In this video I head down on the Huon Pine cruise ship Arcadia 2 to the notorious Pieman Heads where hidden beneath the scrub lays the remains of drowned constable Henry Chad Christian. Christian, (grandson of Fletcher Christian - HMS BOUNTY) was drowned at the heads whilst attempting to cross the dangerous sandbar at its entrance in a small boat in 1879. His remains were found several days later and he was buried on a hill overlooking the scene of the tragedy. The location of his grave has since been lost but using an old surveyors chart and some newspaper articles describing the gravesite I head out in attempt to find it.

Schools need to use your vids for teaching Tasmanias history. Lessons wouldn't be boring. The Tasmanian tourist board also need to cut you a wedge because your doing their job for them. Looking forward to part 3. 🙏

One day! I know some primary classes are watching my In the footsteps of the Franklins series which is pretty cool, and some college classes have been using my Fincham episodes in their outdoor education. As for the tourism board well I'm sure they think reposting others work for free is good enough to promote the state.

Oh, and thanks to you and Levi for the coordinates to Weaning Creek, spent 2-3 hours trekking up and down the creek taking photos. Had to walk about 5 Km there and back to get to the creek because of a tree across the road, both worth it. Thanks again.
