Another tip. Clean dirty cameras. Especially the quest headsets. Since my fingers always accidentally touches the lens so the cameras are filled with oily fingerprints. I use a microfiber cloth to clean those.
Quick note: Jay says that the oculus inside out tracking is used to determine the rotation and position of the headset in space but it’s actually a gyroscope and other pieces of hardware, like a modern smartphone, that determines rotation. So really the inside out tracking only determines position of both the controllers and headset
Thanks Median! I have a bad habit of under explaining when I think a video is going to run long. Oculus insight (inside out tracking) is mostly used for 3d positioning but unlike some headsets that tend to drift over time it also uses the insight tracking to track the rotation of the headset as well. IMU's, or Inertial Measurement Units like the gyroscope track it's real time turning and rotation but over time tend to lose track of the space and this is when you get the dreaded "drift" where the room has turned 90 degrees or more from where you started. Oculus looked to correct this so they had their insight tracking also determine rotation (which is unusual) to prevent this. The IMUs track the fast movements but it uses the 3d map of the room to also track it. That would've been a lot to put in the video but it's a good reminder to be more clear in future videos. Thanks Gamer!
*ANOTHER SOLUTION FOR TRACKING ISSUES* For some reason this hasn't really been mentioned by oculus and hopefully this will help someone... If you have Xmas lights on a Xmas tree etc, turn them off. I have only had issues the last few days with tracking and it turns out the lights have been confusing the headset, games were always crashing and returning me to oculus home, turning them off made my games work again.
I was having some buggy tracking last night first time playing around my tree but I was facing away so it wasnt too bad so that was probably the problem
I'm receiving my Quest 2 in a couple of weeks, I didn't know any of these tips or tricks, you saved my gaming experience from lots of hassle and complaining. I was not aware of anything in this video until you told me! I understand Quest 2 so much better now. Thank you so much for getting straight to the point and helping out with the most important things to do with the Quest 2. I appreciate it! Thank you!!!
Mirrors and VR never mix, you're totally right. The PSVR had an especially hard time with them but any mirror near any vr that is visually tracked will mess it up
To be fair though, the Quest 1 fails far more easily to this than the Quest 2 does, never seen my hands or virtual controllers fly across the playspace in the Q2 like it tends to happen in the Q1 every now and then. CV1 tracking is completely garbage with mirrors involved though, only works with all reflective surfaces within the trackers' FOV completely covered up. Same with TrackIR BTW, a pre-VR 6dof headtracker that basically uses the same method.
Not just mirrors, but things that act like mirrors, like windows. If you have a bright room and it's dark out the glass basically becomes a mirror. I have tracking issues if I'm playing at night and I forget to close the blinds!
Nice to include the update about frequencies, since the US AC power runs at 60hz, which would cause the infrared sensors to go out of sync with the light bulb.
The weird part is people in EU were still having better luck with 60 as well which should've been blacking out. Electricity is so much more complicated than people think lol
@@jaybratt I guess if you had a hypothetical setting of 1,000,000hz, the controllers would be able to make more detection, even when a majority of said defections occurs when the lights go out during the ac cycle when the wave reaches 0. So setting it to 60z would allow the controllers more of an opportunity to track.
2 years later but that's not how lightbulbs work. Incandescent bulbs don't flicker at all because they work like capacitors (they have thermal mass, as someone has put it). Fluorescent lights flicker at 120 Hz, twice per cycle and everyone hates them anyway. LED lights also flicker at about 120 Hz according to my searches.
Hey you're welcome Matt! We only knew about this because on the Windows headsets if you used below a 1.6v it would make your controllers read low battery and turn off your haptic feedback even on a full charge... Awful! Lol
Wow just wow. Thanks a lot for your video. I would have been stuck at this for ages on my own. I replaced the 1.2v rechargeables with cheap no brand 1.5v cells and immediate difference. Subscribed!!!
Glad to see you're still helping people even after a year of uploading. I turned my headset's "Headset Tracking" off which restarted it. Then, I was stuck in a completely stationary 360 degree view, similar to how the Go's tracking is where I can't move my head or controllers forward and backwards. Since then, whenever I tried re-enabling the Headset Tracking option and restarting, nothing happened. Changing the refresh rate didn't help and trying to adjust the Guardian controls did absolutely nothing. Upon turning on the headset, it always says "Tracking off, Guardian disabled".
Oh no I'm sorry to hear that. You could do a factory reset (hold volume down and power at the same time) this would reset it to the state when you bought it meaning you could lose some high scores or data but it should definitely fix it. Might be worth contacting support.oculus.com first to see what they say though.
I just recently got a q2 as an upgrade from my old vive. And playing Beat Saber was just impossible, till I found the tip of changing the update frequency from auto. That actually almost solved the entire problem. Still not quite as good of-course but certainly well enough to actually play. Not really had any issues in any other game so far.
I'm so glad to hear that helped you! No matter how good you get the Quest it still won't compare to your old lighthouse tracking but hopefully now it's close enough to be enjoyed again!
I wasn’t too sure about the battery thing. As far as life goes, a good rechargeable lasts almost as long as a primary cell. Normally battery devices take in more voltage than they need, and step down from there. BUT, I have noticed tracking issues on my Rift S controllers since switching now that you brought it up. So every color of LED has a nominal voltage. It just so happens that IRLEDs have a nominal voltage of 1.4v. They’ll still illuminate at 1-1.2v, but at a much lower brightness. The rest of the controller works fine because it’s probably a 0.5-1v system with a regulator in front of it.
Oof! Question: how often are you changing batteries on your S? I got to the point I was changing them every play session so I cut holes in my grips and ran chargers through them: ua-cam.com/video/tjGQa6BOTCw/v-deo.html
@@jaybratt I probably get about 24-36 hours out primary or rechargeable cells. I played 4 hours a day for a whole week on one set once. If you're talking about the lithium rechargeables that charge via USB cable, I know those vary pretty wildly in capacity from brand to brand. They give you the whole 1.5v, but lack in the low draw capacity of NiMH. I think "Project Farm" did a test on Lithium rechargeables, NiMH rechargeables, and primarys. It was bad enough that I just decided to upgrade my NiMH collection instead. At this point, the only option for the best performance is just sticking to primaries. I keep a magazine on my desk I printed from Thingaverse.
I also own a WMR, and knew a lot of these tricks, I even own recharable batteries rated at 1.5 that have built in charging ports for a Rechargeable Mod I made of an old pair of Samsung Odyssey + controllers. The 60hz mode really helped a lot
Hey Proto! I think WMR really helped prime me for troubleshooting my setup lol. My HP one was just not great. It's crazy to see the G2 and how it's progressing though. I just wish they'd change up the controllers a bit and use some more modern tracking.
The 50Hz saved my Quest after a year of usage. I was talking with Amazon for a potential return of the headset (shaky controllers in the headset) and switched to fixed 50Hz, and it seems to do the trick. Otherwise, I will exchange the headset for a new one since my guarantee is still valid. But thank you SO MUCH for this video, really helpful!!
My controllers always end up drifting away when I play beatsaber and it's really frustrating because I play expert+ beatsaber levels and it sucks when they make me lose
Even with the improved tracking I feel like I fail a lot on my quest 2 and almost never on my Rift S. Idk if that one extra camera or the placement makes enough difference but it's a very different experience. Make sure if you are near a Christmas tree avoid that because it causes controllers to straight up run away
Guys, if your hands fly off, stop or you have other tracking issues try re-pairing controllers. In your phone app go to your headset settings, controllers, un pair and pair back your controllers. Helped me
Ok very nice video on tracking but a lot of people haven't had any problems with tracking the only ones that have had issues with tracking have been users who have a damaged headset out of the box or a bad camera or a bad battery in the controller is mostly what i have seen its cool you can turn on 60HZ that neat i have to say for beat saber and other fast paced games but that is going to eat your battery life on your controllers the more HZ you play with i would recommend some nice rechargable batterys for the quest and quest 2
I really made this video for the people who had a Quest for a while and were wanting to improve it. I had no idea so many people were gonna see this whether they needed it or not lol. The responses have been great and everyone seems to really appreciate it but I thought this would be one of those videos only found by people searching "Quest tracking issues" or something
I really do, that's why I got battery packs that can just be charged in the controller but I had a fair number of people tell me they preferred swapping out. Seems crazy to me but I guess they do appreciate the ability to just keep going no matter what
I bought them batteries with the usb plug in it and I immediately checked expecting it to be less than 1.5, but to my surprise, they're spot on 1.5V! They use to wear off so fast with the quest 1, now I hardly recharge them anymore... amazing! Anyway thanks for all the tips ;)
Thanks Jonathan! I'm loving the battery life on the Quest 2 with the 1.5v's. I have had the same ones in since launch and haven't had to swap them yet!
How should you clean your lenses? Should you use cloth that comes with your glasses? And why not I can't split a bit of clean water spray on the lenses before i clean them??
The cloth works to clean and really you shouldn't need the spit to clean it, they should clean up fine without it. If you want to get really intense you can get a lenspen made for VR headsets but usually the cloth will do fine. ua-cam.com/video/BoeWDm5CrOk/v-deo.html
@@Berserkeroverland ye I've been using 1.2v rechargeable batteries for about 3 weeks, and I wasnt experiencing anything concerning, but then my controllers started lagging in game so I impaired them so I could repair them, and now they arent connecting at all. I turned up the tracking frequency and I've switched out the batteries for 1.5v, but they're still not connecting:/
Depends on the batteries let me explain energizer recharagable batteries do work but there is a catch and a big learning curve so when you buy energizer batteries and your thinking oh charger and batteries for 19.99 great deal. no it isnt the batteries that come in the charger set with the energizer batteries are lower voltage batteries buy another set of energizer battery's without the charger those are usually the 3,000MAH batteries with 1.5V
The biggest problem I am having is controller tracking in beat saber. When playing fast songs on expert sometimes one of my controllers will fly out into the void. Shaking it usually brings it back but it still makes beat saber impossible to play.
I've seen this most with lighting issues. I actually had this problem come back when I played in my garage due to the LED strips I use to light it. I had to switch them to green to get it to stop. I'd try turning on and off different lights around you and make sure you don't have any mirrors in view that will confuse the tracking.
@@jaybratt It worked for a bit but started acting up again. Tried it in a couple of different rooms with different lighting. Maybe it's a defective controller? It only happens in beat saber though which is weird.
I dropped you a like because of the prompt intro and also straight up saying ‘if you find the first tip helpful then you don’t have to watch the rest of the video’. Kudos dude. Good youtuber.
Have you ever seen Zero Latency? We just got invited there and we'll have videos coming soon. They have huge VR arenas you can walk around in and you use backpack PCs with inside out tracked headsets so you can walk anywhere. The room you play in is this massive open room with all these zig zag patterns on the walls to help it track. Google ZERO LATENCY VR and you'll see it in the background of all the images. They told us that's purposeful to make the headsets track really well
Definately helped me out. I was trying to snipe in a game called "into the radius" and the scope was bouncing all over the place... Now I can make those shots!
It's more commonly known in the Windows Mixed Reality community as they're constantly fighting with tracking but Oculus is usually good enough that people don't feel they need to troubleshoot it.
Awww thanks. I try but the Quest 2 seems to be getting more new tracking issues faster than I can help. V29 messed a lot of people up so hopefully they're fixing whatever caused that
I didn't know about the battery thing. I switched to to those 1.2v amazon basics ones that I use for everything and didn't even realize. I have noticed the tracking was a little worse since I did that
It definitely also depends on the quality of the batteries. If you get some really nice Eneloop 1.2v you might never notice but I found the amazon and energizer ones just didn't cut it
I'm getting a Quest 2 soon and since I still have somewhat of money I could get those 1.5V AA batteries. I never understood the main reason at first (when I heard about the 1.5V batteries from someone a few days ago) I told them I had the rechargable Energizer batteries but then after you explained it is recommended to have those I'm far convinced, thank goodness I found this video.
For tracking I always wanted to find a light that projected grid lines in 360 around the room. It would allow the room to be dark yet also give that classic 80's Tron look to the space. Just haven't found a inexpensive light that will do that
@@jaybratt Try one of those holiday projecting spheres that project images in 360 and draw your own grid lines onto a clear sheet and replace the "holiday" theme with grid line theme. Find some of those overhead projector blank sheets (if they even exist anymore... don't know if them are even used anymore).
The settings and the battery tips actually helped, thanks! I thought if I just use my base stations for tracking would help, but my controllers kept flying away from me every time I play Beat Saber. At least on the brightside, I can play in the dark with my quest.
Hi Jay, I dont know if this is connected to tracking but Im trying to calibrate my headset everything is fine and the my computer finds it but after the calibration and saving it to headset. It disconnects. I tried the tac/post it tac technique to keep it connected but nothing seems to work for me. Do you have any insights.
You're talking about specifically linking it to your pc with a cable? You can try a repair of the Oculus software to see if it helps it through. Different usb ports also can effect it. Lastly you might have an underpowered usb port and using a powered hub might also help. Sorry I don't have a solid answer that will definitely work though.
Wow thank you so much! Electricity is one of those things that's so much more complicated than it seems and I don't pretend I know it all by any means. I admire electricians!
I have always used the "water" anology to describe it. (Ya, ya... I know... lol). But it does good at giving a "simple idea" of what it is to the "clueless". Amp = the amount of current and Volts = the pressure of the current like water going through a hose, the hose carries the full amount of the water and when it comes to a spray nozzle it can either come out very hard and fast or it can come out slow and gentle depending on how you set the nozzle BUT it can NEVER spray more water than the hose is carrying. I don't know why people cringe at this anology for a "simple" explanation of it because it does give a good easy to remember real world model to compare it to without going into the "geek stuff" most clueless people dont't want or need :). It is absolutely mind boggling how many people are clueless about something like a phone charger that they use a LOT in their life... They get a new one and complain it is "slow" to charge and have no idea what # tells you how fast it will charge... and they get a 1 amp or 1.5 amp charger instead of the 2A or 2.5A one (and you still have to check those too because it might have 3A labeled on it but only 1.5A on each port). Once again I fall back on the "water" analogy... If you want to fill a pool with water it will not fill any faster by using the small high powered jet setting on your nozzle because the hose only delivers so much water.... you need a bigger HOSE to fill it up faster.
I have not tried them side by side to confirm but where I've read it says it in theory should but it's a negligible difference. I find my controller batteries last but the headset itself dies more often than I think it should.
eneloops are known for being great batteries. I actually ran them for a while before I knew this. It was when I would use my energizers that I just seemed to have problems all the time. Still the Quest tracking is pretty great unless I'm playing Beat Saber on E+, then I see its shortcomings pretty quickly
Thank you! Switched freq, understand the lighting better, and JUST IN TIME cancelled the Energizer 1.2v rechargeables order and am ordering a 4-set of 1.5v rechargeables (I've always hated the 1.2v batts for everything .... good to know the real voltage batts exist!)
Glad to be of help Gene! I actually learned for my original Windows headset they wanted 1.6v batteries and that was a bit of a task. On those old headsets the controllers would read 1.2 as low and turn your haptics off immediately. At least Oculus doesn't do that.
@@jaybratt Ooh .. horrid! Haptics are VITAL. Sincere frustration right now as Amazon won't send me the good batteries. Never heard of 1.6v, but if Oculus would be happy with 1.5, that would do. Still looking ....
Is the new Anker dock? Yes they are, I even mentioned that in my review because I was happy to see that! They did work with Oculus on designing the stand, so I'm sure Oculus insisted on the correct batteries. Anker review: m.ua-cam.com/video/Cp-w-iMmPhQ/v-deo.html
Thanks lego! The gameplay part is based on a game on Oculus called Path of the Warrior but the game is not a 2d side scroller like that, it's a 3d vr game based on those 2d side scroller beat em ups
Give it a shot. People have been reporting this is helping in most all situations but SOME with much older lighting may actually see an improvement on 50 so try that if you don't notice an improvement.
It depends on how much you play but I was swapping them out every couple weeks and putting the other set in the charger. More recently I got a set of grips with a battery door and I put USB rechargeable batteries and magnetic chargers inside so I can charge them without removing them. It's nice as they're always charged and ready to go now.
thanks dude... hope this helps... i play outside and am looking to improve tracking. I think my lighting is good but I will try your other suggestions.
Outside can be very tricky because sunlight will blow out the cameras and make them useless. If you can do it under an awning or in a shaded area it's much better. Technically they say never to play outside so be careful you don't take the headset off and leave it in the sun, the sun on the inner lenses is like ants under a magnifying glass, burn a hole right into the inner screen
@@jaybratt I only play at night when it's not as hot out... blade and sorcery can be very grueling exercise when you're not using the controller. I'm starting to figure out some ways to cheese the enemies so it's becoming less exercise... I may have to try some AI mods to make it challenging again.
Subscribed and liked. Two points, these tracking problems seem to be INCREASING with every Oculus update for some crazy reason. Second your frequency tip is not a good idea for Europe or other parts of the world on 50hz electricity - will induce flickering when playing in artificial lighting - thanks
Thanks Mark! Yeah we added that to the description and comments. Back when we made this our channel was more US and less international lol. Although some people still reported better tracking with it in EU which I'm not certain how that helped: www.reddit.com/r/OculusQuest/comments/bvzz47/tracking_kinda_sucks/?
There's so much stuff you need for this VR headset. You need anti-fog cloth, elite headstrap, a face cushion thats more comfortable and sweat proof, 1.5v batteries, a portable battery for extra battery life for the headset itself, headphones, a chromecast to show on a TV screen and a case or a charging dock, i also bought grips for the controllers which arent really needed but help and feel more comfortable.
@@jaybratt It sure does. I wish it was built initially to last and with comfort. Mustve been all that cost reduction. Thats how they sell. A very common tactic is to sell something cheap then reduce the quality of the product. I will have to see if the elite headband will break. Ive only seen a few instances. People said the same thing for the PSVR having so many issues and mine turned out perfectly fine for years. Just dont beat it to a pulp im guessing.
@@myguitartwerks7825 there seems to be a bad batch of plastic in some of the elite straps. Many are fine but some will just randomly crack. That's interesting about the psvr, I've been a day one owner and I've seen a lot of people saying it's the most comfortable and durable. If it had better tracking it would've been considered one of the best vr headsets ever I think, the hand tracking just really messed up the experience
@@jaybratt my issue with the PSVR is the terrible tracking and resolution. The resolution feels like looking through mosquito netting. And then it has a wire that gets in the way. The head strap is now deteriorating as well. The material is falling apart all over my head when I play. Another recent thing I discovered are little black dots appearing on the screen. I think the interior has material starting to fall apart. Maybe its paint. I started tapping on the headset and it gradually went away. The issues I heard about PSVR is that knob in the back of the headstrap snapping off. Saw the pictures. Also the wire can get damaged and the whole thing needs to be replaced. Those were the complaints I heard when I got it.
@@myguitartwerks7825 my og is still holding up well but I don't use it constantly. I've said for years until we get wireless it won't go mainstream. Quest is finally showing us how true that is with how fast it sells. Wires are just more of a pain than mainstream wants to deal with
1:31 Or 50 if you're in Europe or anywhere where you got a 50Hz power grid. 1:35 I only ever used ~10 year old sanyo eneloops or the more recent eneloop pro from Panasonic (they bought sanyo a while back) and never had problems except for the obvious ones (like mirrors interfering), even with the Reverb G2 where so many people recommended getting NiZn rechargables with 1.5V. To be fair, those eneloops are just rad. I'd never use anything else or even disposables anymore unless there'd be something even better. I basically replaced every AA and AAA thingies with those and got a decent charging device (a BC700) that doesn't try to overcharge them and leaves you the choice of how fast they're being charged (200, 500 or 700mA), I typically just use the default low setting to make them last longer. And it shows, got my first ones back in 2008 and they're still good.
Thank you! This helped quite a lot, I still have yet to try the 1.5V batteries so I'm hoping that will further improve the tracking. It can still be very annoying on the faster songs like Spin Eternally and Ghost on Expert+ but it is SO much better.
On the phone app you can re pair them. On the app go to the Settings>headset>controllers>pair new controller (unpair old ones if they show first) hope that fixes it :D
Nobody else has my problem!: whenever I turn on my quest it always says “tracking issues”. Have to wait a bit before the quest actually gets to home. Clean cameras, sufficient light, no mirrors. Please help!
I have that problem to and I HATE IT SO MUCH. Usually tho after it won’t let me go back on my games so I just restart the oculus you should try restarting it if it lags you out repeatedly.
Thank you so much bro, I was noticing after I put brand new battery’s in my controllers that the sensing wasn’t that good. I replacing them right now with the proper voltage,
For the love of god, please DON'T go to single-use batteries just to improve any tracking. Get yourself quality rechargeables (like Eneloop) which still have 1.2V, yet track fine (both my Rift S and Quest 2) and a CHARGER so you can re-use them. That's not just saving you a lot of money in the long run but also generates a lot less waste.
It shocks me when people just use and toss batteries for anything. Seems so expensive. I have a set of rechargeables in all the VR controllers that need them but can also be charged from the outside so I always have them charged and ready to play
Thank you for the very concise video, however, I have run into a problem with the infrared on my left controller. The left controller is not visible while I'm wearing the headset. Any tips?

At launch. So a month ago already. I mostly use it for personal use and not a lot on the channel as the Rift S is already hooked up and just easier to use.
You're welcome Brad. Some people have said the 1.2v (as long as they're high quality) will work as well but the manufacturer specs probably say 1.5v because a lot of the 1.2v are low quality and won't hold up. I was glad to see the Anker Charging Dock that Oculus partnered to design came with 1.5v's for rechargeables, but I also wasn't too surprised since Oculus was involved
Thank you for your video had some issues with my tracking and gaurdian it absolutely would not want to work at all but after a few of your tips it's back to hopefully top shape.
Hey I'm glad to hear that Kahiau, a few more things we've learned since. A hard reset sometimes helps (hold volume down and power with the headset on), you can unpair and repair controllers from your phone if one of them acts up too. Glad to be of help 😁
The cameras seem to work exactly the same. The only improvement they've confirmed was putting a much heavier spring in the battery compartment so the intense flicks of the controller no longer cause the battery to lose connection and wreck the tracking
I homemade knuckle straps with the wrist strap on the controller. It ties around the ring, so does that affect the tracking. Also, the tracking for the guardian floor level is the problem, it only goes down when i kneel down, not when I touch the floor with the controller
I used to make my own straps with wii straps wrapped around my hands! The floor thing is weird, are the controllers fully powered on and tracked? It sounds like it's trying to gauge the floor height from the headset instead of the controllers.
Another tip. Clean dirty cameras. Especially the quest headsets. Since my fingers always accidentally touches the lens so the cameras are filled with oily fingerprints. I use a microfiber cloth to clean those.
Oooh I should've included that! They tend to get very icky with all the handling. Thank you! Check out the description!

Mirrors and VR never mix, you're totally right. The PSVR had an especially hard time with them but any mirror near any vr that is visually tracked will mess it up
@@jaybratt indeed! Sorry for replying so late! I forget to check the notifications 😅
@MrSkitMan and is it on every wall in every house, it just a wall? Because you can always just fade away, if it’s a quest or PlayStation
@@Krzeszny95 Literally use your phone camera and point it at one. Set the shutterspeed to almost anything and there will be a flicker.

Hey you're welcome Matt! We only knew about this because on the Windows headsets if you used below a 1.6v it would make your controllers read low battery and turn off your haptic feedback even on a full charge... Awful! Lol

Pierre that makes me so happy! Thank you so much and I'm so glad it's working better now.

I'm so glad this video is still helping people so long later Blair, thank you!!
Helped me

I imagine a great way to make a vr room would be to set up a checkering pattern of multiple color checkered tiles
Had no idea that the recharge battery voltage had an effect on tracking! I checked my rechargeables and sure enough, 1.2v. Guess I’m buying new ones!😊

For tracking I always wanted to find a light that projected grid lines in 360 around the room. It would allow the room to be dark yet also give that classic 80's Tron look to the space. Just haven't found a inexpensive light that will do that
Alternatively you can use a infrared light to make a otherwise very dark room trackable.
How about a Tron infrared light? Just projects laser grids and then lights up the room IR? I'd buy it!

Dude I've been a mechanic for years now and work a lot with voltages. Your explanation was actually the best I've heard
Will the first tip work for the quest one
Yes, the Quest 1 had the exact same settings
Don’t forget led lights! They can confuse your headset for the controls with certain colors I recommend to turn them off when playing vr!
Since making this video I've discovered this one myself and I switch mine to green when I play which works really well. Old PSVR Tracking trick FTW!
Does the 60hz mode on controlles drain more battery than 50/auto ?

Glad to be of help Gene! I actually learned for my original Windows headset they wanted 1.6v batteries and that was a bit of a task. On those old headsets the controllers would read 1.2 as low and turn your haptics off immediately. At least Oculus doesn't do that.

Wanna know what else will do it? If your PC has powerful RGB lights that are bright.
Mirrors can reflect the Infrared light back confusing the cameras but it's usually not a huge issue with the tracking as the mirrors are far away.

There's so much stuff you need for this VR headset. Don't forget the elite straps are prone to breaking so you need a backup for that too... Aww the list goes on

Thank you so much bro, I was noticing after I put brand new battery’s in my controllers that the sensing wasn’t that good. I replacing them right now with the proper voltage,
You're very welcome Aidan!
Any tips?
Funny thing is you talk about when I’m getting a quest 2 for Christmas
Congrat BlueBerry! Christmas isn't very far away and I get the feeling there's gonna be a lot of Quest2's under peoples trees this year
sadly not mine I'm on the lower class its expensive for me :( I really want one
I would think $300 is expensive to most people but I know what you mean. I did experimental medical studies as a kid to get an N64
@HYPER-Cryptt me too, Christmas can’t come soon enough.
@OkayChevyツ how does that have anything to do with my comment
"I am not an electrician" procedes to provide the best possible explaination of voltage frquentlky used by electricians when explaining to laymen.
well done m8, well done T-T
I really appreciate that Jimmy!...
I didn't just Google it and repeat that verbatim lol
Im getting oculus quest 2 on the 21st december my first time in vr wish me luck
Congrats Harry that first time is just awesome! Do you have a plan for what games you want to try first?
It is awesome.I got mine 3 days ago and it’s the best thing ever.
Are these solutions only for controller tracking? What if we only want to track the headset? Does controller tracking influence the headset tracking for quest 2 or quest pro?
you get my subscribe and like :D
I really appreciate that bella! Welcome to our community!!
@@jaybratt Just checked my two batteries are 5.1 volts the spare ones (also I suggest taking out and putting in back batteries can help with incorrect battery charge detection and low vibration ect)
Overall good video I subbed
Thank you so much Memer! Sorry for the seriously late response!
@@jaybratt Np and the Quest also has a bug were your controller doesnt stop vibrating primarly left in my case it sadly requires a restart but you welcome
RESPOND QUICK PLEASE!!! I keep getting the tracking lost thing and it interrupts my game, then it says guardian not found and then finally it goes back, but it happens constantly and makes it impossible to play games
Try a hard reset. Hold volume down and power with the headset on. Let me know if that helps
@@jaybratt alr
@@jaybratt It did not work unfortunately :(
@@bingsmith3291 You could do a factory reset using the same steps but you'd have to re-login and re-install everything. It'd be like resetting your phone.
@@jaybratt Idk. Whenever i turn it on its like that, and then it keeps doing it. I definitely do not want to factory reset it though. Ive cleaned the lenses, and im just not sure anymore.
I see you flexing al then oculus’
Haha, well I gave away the Quest 1 so I'm back down to 2 Oculus devices, hopefully 1 soon if I upgrade my PCVR
Wanna here a amazing cheat on this for lighting.. pick up a philips Hue Starter kit with the two white bulbs you can control these 2 bulbs from your Cell phone from the hues app and control there light they work great for dim rooms and they dont screw up tracking and dont cause blowouts
I'm all in on Hue lights after playing PSVR, the green light really helped PSVR track so I converted my whole place slowly... slowly because they are EXPENSIVE!
When did you get your Oculus Quest 2
At launch. So a month ago already. I mostly use it for personal use and not a lot on the channel as the Rift S is already hooked up and just easier to use.
you should do a vid on how to recalibrate the quest 2 controllers
That's a good idea! People have been asking about that. Thank you faction!
I am going to try these things you are listing tomorrow, I hope I will get better tracking for beat saber.
Thanks for sharing :3
You're welcome draco, let me know how they work for you!
@@jaybratt yeah, it's the next day I've played some beat saber and the tracking is noticably better. Thank you very much Jay!
Didn't even know about the 1.2V 1.5V rechargeable thing. Thanks for pointing this out!
Question which is better 60hz or 50hz tracking frequency? I don't know if higher hertz like 60 or lower hertz like 50 is better.
I was wondering if quest 2 cameras are better in any way than the ones in quest 1 same with tracking
The cameras seem to work exactly the same. The only improvement they've confirmed was putting a much heavier spring in the battery compartment so the intense flicks of the controller no longer cause the battery to lose connection and wreck the tracking
Thank you so much! I just moved into a different spare bedroom and it has nothing in it nor not the best lighting.
You're welcome Pete, glad to be of help 😊
Thank you! didn't know about the batteries!
You're welcome Hyena! Hope it helps you :D
This helped a lot, thanks
You're welcome Julian!
@@jaybratt actually setting the controllers to 60hz fixed it!
