      I am shopping for some and saw there is a $17 difference between the .030 and .035 Hobart 10Lb Spool. The .30 is about $91 while the .35 is $74. On this small welder should I buy the .030 wire or should I try a 2lb spool of .035 to see how it burns it?

    • @MarkDecamps
      @MarkDecamps 4 роки тому +1

      @@cutweldngrind The 2lb spools are a ripoff. Get a 10lb spool. The flux core is fairly expensive but a 10lb spool lasts forever. You could probably go with either .030 or .035 with that machine. The .030 will be better if you get into thin stuff like 14 or 16 gauge. I don't think you realy need to buy any more flux core wire because as soon as you get some Co2 the flux core roll will sit on the shelf for the next 10 years. If you can weld that well with the flux core, your going to be an expert with the gas.

    Also did you have it set for DCEP for running flux core wire? DCEN is for dual shield flux core and GMAW and DCEP is for flux core wire. That might be part of your splatter issue. Put your lead quick connect in the positive quick connect for DCEP (DC electrode positive). When running GMAW or dual shield flux core put your lead in the negative for DCEN (DC electrode negative)

      @@cutweldngrind when it is set for DCEP the arc goes from the work piece to the wire which in turn doesn't pre melt the electrode (wire) which will help control the splatter.
