This is my favourite book EVER it's amazing. It's a thinking book it's so deep and dark and weird. So amazingly descriptive, uh, it's just amazing!
I can relate to Seth on a spiritual level. I was really depending on the development of his character and the ending really left me feeling as if there was something more. Then again, typing this out, I feel like Patrick wanted it to feel this way. To yearn for something more than what is presently in front of us. Gosh I feel played.
The thing that drew me towards this book is that John Green says "just read it". Lul
Same, I'd read the knife of never letting go and there was something about it that I like but didn't. I'm not a big fan of Patric and it's probably because maybe I'm a bit too young to understand his books but then again it's not like I haven't read books intended for the sane age group 😔 but I do like John and he's a great writer and I've read one of his recommended books before and it was GREAT but this one idk 😅😔👌

I loved this book so much! I don't even know how to explain it. My friend asked what made it so great and I kept saying "just read it."
I've wanted to read this book for so long, but I had no idea what it was about (I just thought the cover was really cool and I'd heard really good things about Patrick Ness). But now I DEFINITELY want to.

I finished this book about 7 minutes ago and I really enjoyed it! I love the author's writing style, and I kept wanting to read on. At first it made me really nervous, but a bit of fear is good
I hadn't read a proper book in years, but I managed to read it in 2 days! It definitely left me wanting more, but I appreciate the ending. I guess the way he wrote it gives you the freedom to imagine, from what you have read in the book, what happens next.
I got this book in a raffle on our school's coach to the hay festival and it was free! Patrick Ness was signing books and giving a talk that day, so I got it signed and almost immediately started reading it. Within a few days, I have gone back to Hay on Wye (not the festival) and have now bought A Monster Calls and a few other books, not by him. I got them today and within 2 or so hours, I have read half of a monster calls! I'm excited to read them all!
I've missed your videos so much. This was great. I can't wait to read this book.
The ending killed me, I kept searching for hidden chapters that I may have missed. And I agree with you, I think people should read it without knowing much about it, except that it is damn good
Finished this book 10 minutes ago, literally got it because i thought the cover was cool, read the description and it reminded me of my favorite DS videogame and i was hooked, if anyone wants a really good story based videogame like this book check 'The world ends with you', eitherway, both are stories im never forgetting
I didn't like this book very much, but the opening scene is SO powerful that until today I think about it every now and then... just love Patrick Ness' writing :)
Also I agree, I definitely think that not understanding the ending completely was 100% the point of it.
I read this over the space of about a week and I found it really intriguing. I'd never read a book before that raised so many questions and confused my mind so much! I can definitely relate to what you're saying here.

I picked it up from my library literally just bc of the cover, I didn't know a single thing about it going in and I'm really glad I didn't bc I was shook so many times throughout the novel!! Made me think so much about life and reality

I completely agree about the ending. I'm a huge lover of sequel's and for me this book didn't have as much closure as I would have liked. Despite this, the book was so intriguing and imaginative that I could overlook the ending :) I didn't really know how to review the book without giving too much away, but you did a fantastic job of it :)

I agree with everything you said in this video. But I also really found the other characters in this book really interesting especially in terms of their relationship to the main character too. This book is well written and incredibly thought provoking. I should read more Patrick Ness books. Anyone have any recommendations.

I absolutely adored the knife of never letting go, one of my favorite books of all time. This book though... idk it just feels like a chore to read for me, I’m only about a hundred pages in but it just hasn’t got to me at all, and the flashbacks are really annoying me tbh
I'm wanting to start a BookTube channel soon but my only recording equipment is my tablet and it's not really made for making BookTube videos. I'm saving up for a video camera. But I'm not sure what camera would record well. I'm not exactly the most tech savvy guy around. Any suggestions for a descent video camera? Also, any suggestions for editing programs? I just finished this book, i went ( as you said ) in it not knowing what to expect and even though i loved his writing i was quiet disappointed ... I absolutely adored the first part but them i just thought it went out of control! I am glad i have read it ( because it is a good experience ) but i must say i was very disappointed ... But you review gives it out well ;)
OMG I read this book and it was such a crazy ride ... It was so confusing through the whole thing. Haha I definitely agree with the mixed feelings !

this book sounds interesting
I read this book during the summer and it is truly life changing. It makes one thing about society and the book is more like a warning to all. After reading the book, I feel like people should really check out Brave New World by Aldous Huxley and Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore because the themes in all three books really tie into each other really well.
This book was nuts. It's too great. Everyone must read it. And I'm not saying that because you'll totally like it... it's just too crazy to miss out on. You'll like it or hate it, I feel.

What did you get from ikea ?
I just started to read it. I'm up to around page 60. I'm finding it really confusing and I just don't get it. I'm pretty young and I often doing always get curtain things in books and what a word means or I read a word for the first time that I've said before and know the meaning to but can't read it, then I get upset at my self for not knowing what word it is and it's so frustrating. Anyway so far I've understood almost everything I've read and it's so descriptive but I don't like the idea of the Afterlife when he dies and I get this wired feeling when I read it because it's not like Patric knows what it's like. I know it's a book but sometimes I over think books 😅 (same with movies) there is just this block of the idea of the afterlife that's stoping me from enjoying the book. Well I'm not that far into the book so who knows. 😅👌👍
Kinda sounds like the movie inception. Not knowing whats real and having an open ending. Excited to read this one :D

Aww.. There's something about this book that makes me want to cringe and ahhh I just love this book.. I read it through audiobook so I became sentimental about this book.. I just love how I still don't know what heck is really happening even towards the ending..
Open endings have to be really really really well developed for it to be ok for us to leave it to our imagination. For example in Eleanor and Park ( SPOILER ALERT ) I didnt mind not knowing what happened after that last letter, I felt like I didnt really have to know, that it wasnt that important to the story.
With More than this I really wish some things were clarified at the end, as I went through the entire book thinking about these things and looking for an answer!

I just finished this book, going in not knowing much about it. Maybe i am not the target audience of this book, but the ending was very disappointing. I thought there would be a big reveal or twist. It almost felt like the author didn't know himself where he was going and was like "i'll let the reader decide".
I did enjoy reading the book though - esp. The 2nd part, which went into a different direction than i thought. But i had all those theories about what was really going on and was curious to find out, which one would be right in the end - just to find out, there is an open ending answering nothing. Nothing definitve at least.
I almost bought this one today. But then I saw like 10 other books that I also wanted, and, and I forgot to buy this book :'( :'(
Seth, Regine and Tomazs still have questions in their head, we readers still have questions but Patrick ness doesn't explain. I love how he doesn't explain, how he leaves us like that.

I hope this isn't a spoiler, but this is just what I felt! Reading this book was such a weird experience for me... Because I loved the first half, it was so mysterious and lonely and suspenseful. And just I loved, loved, loved that first half. Then the second half... Just went in a totally different direction and became very predictable and cliched and I barely finished it. I was so disappointed because the first half, like you said, was is unique and interesting and like nothing I'd ever read before, but then it just turned on its head and turned into this unrecognisable story that was practically another book!

This book is amazing! And I think this can make a very good movie!
But... It is maybe already doing... I don't know.
So... If this book has no movie, I think when I were finish the study and when I have a job, I were going to ask Patrick Ness to have the right to create a movie about his book.
