- Ringing Stedman for a wedding on this fine 8; the closest ring to the Whitechapel Bell Foundry, they were cast by Gillett & Johnston in 1919 and hung by Taylor's in 1971! They used to hang in St Stephen, Clapham Park before that church was demolished and the bells transferred. Spitalfields tower had once housed a 44cwt 12, and then a 33cwt 10!! A potted history of the bells can be found on the link below.

Fab Bells. Would love to ring here
I love the mighty growls of the 7 and tenor! :)
Love love love the sound of these bells! Must get to London to ring some day...
I rang here on Saturday. Definitely worth the visit. Very loud inside too :)
+Ashley Monck Yes they are excellent, always enjoy ringing here :)
Very nice Simon. These rather remind me of the 1928 G&J eight (18-0-18 in E, 652.0) at Clitheroe, Lancs. Cllitheroe are very much Stedman bells too.
Oh yes, they are a cracking ring and Stedman sounds so good on them - in this extract alone you can hear Queens, Whittingtons and Backrounds all roll up :-) I am on the 4th here :-)
gillets, wonderful bells. Ring at Clerkenwell, a brill sound gillet 8. used to do weddings there in the 60s, 10 bob a rope.
the tower captain was old Jack Euston, we called him Kings Cross. Ask Brian Bladon about him
nice bit of ringing simon, yer Dun Well
Indeed, they are pretty good!! A quick youtube search shows a similar weight and sound, Clitheroe are 9 years later, I can well believe they ring well to Stedman too!! Perhaps one day I will come up North and experience some other fine rings :)
Excellent bells! Very nice ringing too! :D
Have you not rung in London yet?! :-O These are cracking. Lost a peal of Stedman here after 90 minutes, but rang one at Jewry in the morning - very fine Mears!! Could spend a month of solid ringing in London and not cover everywhere, plenty of good stuff there!! :-)
Wasn't bad ringing at all, love the bells too!! :D
WOW! Superb :) Which bell are you on there?
I think Aldgate is slightly closer. It's certainly the closest Whitechapel ring to the foundry :)
TBH I don't think there's anything in it, both about half a mile from the Foundry. Decent bells, Aldgate, but miserable to ring!
+simonbellringer yes true. Indeed, one of my regular towers! The 7th is a pain at times!
