    I can pass along what Gene Rychlak said about benching over 900 lbs: You have to get used to feeling your bones bend. Much respect to anyone for just getting under that much weight :)

      @steven-mz3jf Місяць тому +1

      thanks for putting that visual into my head 🙃. but now that you mention it, it does seem like way too much weight for natural human bones to withstand without some kind of bending

    As a raw lifter who has lifted in equipment several times, equipped lifting is WAY HARDER and more painful. Not my cup of teas either but gotta put some respect on these guys.

      Pretty much how much weight can your wrist bones handle before snapping.

      Same here.. I pefer raw, but sometimes I use equipped for strenght stimulus. To different sports. Eqally hard, different parameters. Stop hatin goof balls. He'll probably outlift most you by a factor of 2-3 raw, anyways

    • @ytsux9259

      It just takes practice and once the lifter is familiar with it, he/she can lift several times more than their raw PRs.

    Equipped vs Raw debates asides... Even without lifting the weight, just holding 600kg/1320lbs in your hands is quite an insane feat in and of itself.
    Equipped lifters snap their forearms if they load weight beyond what their bones can tolerate.
    EDIT: I prefer Raw competitions by the way in case anyone was wondering.haha And I have always competed Raw in Equipped competitions in my country's IPF affiliate org - because raw competitions weren't a thing in my country years ago. I have been retired from competing for a long time now.
    So, don't get it twisted- I have no bias for Equipped lifting.haha I might have a bias for Raw lifting instead.haha

    This is equivalent to leg pressing heavy weight with 1/4 range of motion
    Whats the point of this? Just to say you can lift a certain number? because this type of strength is not functional for anything in life other than this specific lift

  • @justsotired4022
    @justsotired4022 27 днів тому

    Enough with this silliness already. Put that weight in his hands without the multi-ply bench shirt and he would be pinned to the bench within 3 seconds. No human being could hold that weight and lower it so slowly if they were unequipped. And the range of motion is also ridiculously small. Let's look back to the days of Mike MacDonald and Mike Bridges for reference as to what a successful bench press attempt really looks like. A lot of young guys have never seen a legitimate 1RM unequipped competition bench press. "Men of a certain age" aren't dinosaurs. We just had the good fortune of seeing the best powerlifters that ever lived.

    Also impressed with his multiple reps in the raw wrestlers bridge decline with what appears to be 200kg

    • @ZaneGeeting
      @ZaneGeeting Місяць тому +5

      @aurelien_le_oreo You're free to do that. What equipped lifters choose to do has zero affect on that.
      What happens here is no different than high jumpers complaining about pole vaulting. They're similar yet entirely different sports that don't affect each other at all.
