Congratulations on 100k Sam!
Massively deserved!
Been subbed since 500 subscribers , cannot believe how far you have come!
Great video as always 👍
Thanks so much mate - really do appreciate that!!
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
@@SamsTrains Where is the other video of the LBSCR Class E4
If I ever make a Thomas and friends OC it would be an E4 class
The LBSC probably had the largest concentration of beautiful locos out of all the pre- grouping railways. The E4 is one of the best.
It’s strange that I was watching a video about these when I got this notification 🤔
Oh really?! This does keep happening - spooky!
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
I think the popularity of the 0-6-2 wheel arrangement is because it has most of the advantages of a 0-6-0 tank with a little extra space to cram more in so the coal and cab can be carried on the pony truck and you can have a bigger firebox and longer boiler or simply just give it a big bunker and the loco still doesn't struggle to go round bends as the wheel base isn't so fixed. I think this is why it was so popular for both London suburban services and welsh coal trains. I think the paint finish is most likely the paint being a slight gloss as opposed to matt or satin which contray to rivet counters belief make the locos look plastic, locos are made of metal and painted gloss so they should look shiny. Great video by the way
Very interesting point - yeah that makes perfect sense, bet you're right! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Sam's trains I used to not have anything to do with someone not from the us but when I figured out you were British I changed my mind so thanks for opening my eyes and don't ask why I hated people outside of my country I will never be able to explain
That's very good to hear - glad I could change your mind!! ;D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
100k! Congratulations 🥳🎉 The channel has grown so quickly recently. 50k feels like yesterday and even 1k doesn't feel like a forever ago. Here's to 200k. Keep up the good work as always :)
Thanks so much Dom - yeah that's very true, doesn't seem long at all since 50k!! Really do appreciate your support mate,
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Congratulations on the 100k, love your videos keep them coming.

Wow what a day, I see steam hauled test trains at the Embasy and Bolton abbey steam railway, get home and an exquisite Sam's trains video, you put so much effort into your uploads and that is a testament to you. You should be very proud Sam
Thanks so much for sharing - really do appreciate your kind words my friend,
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Happy Easter Sam. In toubled times with congratulations on the new achievement with UA-cam, well done and well deserved. Your dedication and precise examination of model technology is a credit to your hard work! I will continue to support you with backup information to enable modellers to locate their locos in appropriate scenerios. Excellent!
Thanks so much Leroy - really appreciate those kind words my friend!
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
God, LBSC Umber is wonderful (probably even better than Improved Engine Green).Especially on the E4, one of my favourite tank engines (which I have never sadly sat in a train pulled by one, because Birch Grove has been awaiting an overhaul for ages). I hope Bachmann brings this back one day, as I would *absolutely* get it.
Yeah it really is isn't it? Absolutely incredible livery! :D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
I know I’m very late, but I will second the notion that Marsh Umber is beautiful and much better than Improved Engine Green.
Always hard not to love an LBSCR Umber livery loco. I demand more LBSCR Umber locos from the manufacturers!
Yeah that's very true - so do I! :D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Thats my favorite livery. LBSC liveries are beautiful!
Massive congrats on 100K Sam, I think I’ve been here since under 10K which is crazy to think, just look at how far you’ve come! You’re still making quality content and I hope there will be more to come! -TheImperialDiamondSpinosaurus

Congrats Sam!🎉🎉
Thank you so much - I'm amazed!! :D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Hi Sam, I'd been thinking about getting an E4 for a while and your review certainly helped. A slight LBSC incursion into my mostly SE&CR layout!
Wow 100k . Congratulations. Really like your channel and you no nonsense reviews . You certainly review from the point of view of a consumer compared to those that have some relationship with manufacturer or retailer . Not bad for a “Carpet Crawler UA-cam reviewer” as mentioned on RMWeb . Obviously they no where near your 100k subscribers . Keep it going Sam
Thanks so much Russell, that's very very kind of you mate! haha you're right - maybe "carpet crawling" was the way to go after all? ;)
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Yayy he hit 100K, Well Deserved man, congrats and here is to 1 Million!!
Thanks so much mate, haha I can only dream of that! ;D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
@@SamsTrains I'm sure you will get your dream just takes time

Congrats on 100k dude!
Thank you so much!! :D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
I noticed in the Review playlist that the thumbnail to the old review of this loco had vanished, so I reckoned it would only be a matter of time before you revisited this beauty.
Congratulations on the 100K Sam, here's to many more!
Blimey you did well to spot that - I did it just a few hours before releasing this! ;D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Hopefully Bachmann do bring these back, I love the LBSC livery. The wheel arrangement is Great to! Great vid sam!
I hope so - wonder if there are any other potential liveries still to do?
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Well donned on 100k! I'm not exactly early (came in at about 50k) but you really do deserve it, and another 900k.
Thanks so much mate - you sure have been here a long while!
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
I really like the E4. I think it’s such a nicely proportioned loco. I really should find a good one to buy before they dry up! Great video as usual. Slowly catching up with the backlog 😂😂
EXTREMELY Late, But congrats on 100k! I absolutely love the E4’s, and I’m glad Birch Grove is preserved today. I want to get one of these engine in oo.
Do like that livery as well, had to pick up yet another Terrier in the same livery and it looks very smart on it, and do like the E4s, did have an OO Gauge one too, though would love it in N Gauge!
Also congrats on getting to 100k Subs Sam, here's hoping you reach 200k soon!
Hoping to at least get to the 1k mark myself one day.
Looking forward to seeing your next video!
Thanks a lot for sharing - yeah I'd love a Terrier in this livery one day too! Really appreciate your kind words too! :3
Thanks for watching, Sam :)

Happy Easter Sam, I love the E4 have one built by my dad and the same one as you, wonderful model.
Ahh fantastic Mike - Bachmann's are nice, but they'll never match the sentimental value of the one your Dad built!
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
@@SamsTrains Ah yes thanks Sam very true
Just got a backmann class 37 “Avro Vulcan” and it’s brilliant, great review always help me before I buy.

Thanks so much Zech, really appreciate it! :D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
This has just become the influence of a complete redesign of a Thomas OC I have had in mind for our theater director, who is leaving us after this semester concludes in May. I call her Francesca the Theater Engine. Originally, it was going to be a completely original design, combining elements from American and British railways together... but this proved to be absolute rubbish. After seeing this review, I went on making the OC look so much better and cleaner by simply adding the face on the smokebox, nameplates from smokebox to boiler, adding a 1 in front of the 579, and adding a small badge underneath the LBSC insignia.
I must say that this model and engine is an absolute masterpiece. If only I had the supplies for an actual face for the smokebox door and other things I have on it...
Ahh fantastic to hear that - good luck with the project mate!
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Congrats on 100k a lot of my favorite UA-camrs are hitting hit this week weird
Thank you!! haha is that so?? Awesome! :D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Happy 100K Sam. I’m so happy you made it to this awesome milestone. Also I though this engine was of Thomas’s basis.
Thanks so much my friend - and it sure does look like him!
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Great Job On 100k! Yay Sam!

Me too Billy - lovely isn't it? :D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
I love the lbsc livery congratulations on 100k
Thanks so much Lewis!! :D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Thanks for drawing attention to the great price for this more recent Bachmann loco.
The 0-6-2 tank engine was also popular with Hornby Dublo being their first tank engine back in 1938.
They made LNER, GWR, LMS and Southern versions but never called it an N2 in any of their literature. More freelance by their standards. Wrenn did call it an N2 when they took over the tooling.
The current Hornby is based on the early eighties Airfix GMR designed model but taken over by Mainline.
It's no problem John - credit where it's due etc. That's true actually - I have a few of those myself, amazing to see how far we've come!
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Congrats for the 'Play' button , well done well deserved . Happy Easter
Thanks so much Victor, really appreciate it mate!
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Gorgeous looking. The 0-6-2 format does make for a very good looking loco. Something about the visual balance I think. 😊👍
Yeah me too Pauline - it's a stunning design!
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
The livery of this loco has a lovely finish to it. Looks much better than some of Hornby's recent efforts.
It sure does - the finish is top notch!
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Smashing little loco and a beautiful livery. I got one of these because I couldn't justify the price of the LBSC Atlantic and I am not disappointed.
I agree - they did an amazing job on those!! Glad to hear you made a good choice! :D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
To answer you're question about Terriers and the Royal Train.
The Isle of Wight was home to Queen Victoria during her latter years, she would stay at Osborne House, which did have a station connection just up the road from it (Cowes station).
The Cowes & Newport Railway, (Later part of the I.W.C) did purchase quite a few LB&SCR Terriers, and they were used to operated the route between, Newport & Cowes.
So there is actually chance historically speaking, that a Terrier could have hauled the Royal Family to Cowes, and to many other places like Whippingham for sunday mass, at St Mildred's.
Hope the trivia was interesting, great video as always, would be nice for Bachmann to pull the stick out of their back ends and reproduce the E4 as it was on of their all time best sellers. and very stable selling too.
Many thanks for answering this David, something I had been wondering about!
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
I may not be able to go to the nrm in York but I do enjoy watching your trains run around your layout😀
haha glad to hear that Sam! :D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Beautiful locomotive and great review! Definitely like tank engines!
Thanks a lot mate - me too!! :D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Another great video by sam its great now you have 100k
Thanks so much King - I can't believe that!! :O
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Lovely one this....really like the chocolate brown....just looks wonderful with those Pullman coaches...cheers
Thanks a lot Chris - yeah me too, it's lovely isn't it?! :D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Happy Easter Sam!
(BTW we haven't seen bullman in a while )
Happy Easter!! :D
Congrats on reaching a well deserved 100K milestone Sam!!🎉
Thank you so much - couldn't have done it without you! :D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
I got my T9, I'm just working her in now, also you should look into Kadee couplers that can be put on Hornby and Bachmann british engines, I fitted my M7, J15 and T9 with those
Ooh amazing - hope you have fun! And sure, that would be worth trying!
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Morning Sam, always enjoy watching the reviews you seem very honest about what you find, I have noticed and this makes me laugh with your serious models you always start by saying "this is one of my absolute favourites" just admit you like model trains. Well done you keep up the great reviews and I must say this is one of my favourites as well. Look after yourself, Eddy xx
Good morning - and yes, I won't deny that... very few models aren't my favourites! ;D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Congrats on 100k!
Thank you so much - couldn't have done it without you! :D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
I have an example of this locomotive which i have weathered to working condition in a goods figuration. As a part of this weathering I usually dust the coal load with actual, fine ground, coal.
Nothing looks more realistic and a fine dusting of this onto the Bachmann coal load makes for just right in my eyes.
Ahh that sounds fantastic - bet this does look great with a bit of weathering actually!
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
I have a early br one and a beauty good job Sam!
Oh lovely - that must look superb! :D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Oh nifty, a 50-50 motor. Could you enlighten me as to which one to buy?
You know, there's a reason why I love the E4s, probably because the livery fits the overall design.
Yeah I agree - amazing livery!
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
I bought two unlined BR black ones (fantastic runners); One reliveried and numbered as 2510 in Southern black, the one sent to the Isle Of Wight 1947 to 1949. The other one is W37 "Blackgang" a "what if the trial had been successful?"
Great to hear that Nathan - they sure are good runners!
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
4.54 Cab roofs were often made of wood planks overlaid with canvas. This was then waterproofed with several coats of white lead -- cheap and effective -- to fill the pores of the canvas and kill off dry-rot funghi. Naturally it didn't stay white very long, but not many passengers are going to check out the loco's cab roof. For the same reason, most nineteenth-century coach roofs were also white, to start with at least. If you want that just-out-of-the-workshop look to go with that magnificent livery, white it is.
Thanks a lot for sharing - very interesting indeed, I hadn't realised this!
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Any chance to see that E4 and Atlantic again is most welcome! Possibly my favourite models, but, like pies, my favourite is usually what I’m eating at the moment lol! Hard to choose an all time fav but these two are contenders. An no, I don’t eat models hahaha!
haha I heartily agree - and I don't blame you, they don't taste right...
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
100k subs congrates
Thank you so much Eduardo!! :D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
I thought you were reviewing foot locker most of the Thomas was based off of but I was sorely surprised and honestly I really enjoyed it
haha thanks David, glad to hear that!
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
You have mostly Hornby tracks in your layout ??
I do love a vary in liveries every so often. Lbsc liveries are a joy to look at. :P
I agree - this is one of the best isn't it?
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Where's the other video of the Bachmann LBSCR E4?
Wow the finish on the livery is amazing, much better than my dapolN gauge terrier in the LSBCR livery-Ben
It really is isn't it? Superb liveries from Bachmann!
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Ive been watching sam for about 4 3 years
Oh wow! That's a long time - thanks so much!! :D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
I have watched all of your videos sam!😺
Wow!! That's quite a task!! :O
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Interested to see a rereview of this locomotive! The E4 shape always kinda reminds me of what Thomas looks like, especially the splashes on the front wheel as well as the dome, and rear.
The E2 (Thomas) was meant to be a go between the E4 and the ageing Stroudly E1s.
Thank you! Yeah you're right - it does a lot of folks too!
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Thought you had already reviewed this loco great review any way
I did do - this is an updated review on this! :D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Excellent review of the Bachmann LBSCR E4 Sam. I got a question, is this a reboot review of the E4 model?
I really hope Bachmann do bring these locos back as I like to get one in LBSC livery.
It sure is! Let's hope they do bring it back too! :D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Amazing tank engine! Amazing video.
Thanks so much my friend! :D

@@SamsTrains your welcome and it was good :)
Hi Sam, You do have some nice engine's, the E4 has some good looks, nice review, (and not a bit of glue in sight) All the Best Brian 🤗
Thanks so much Brian - really glad you liked it!
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
I got mine (32500 in br lined black, weathered by its previous owner) as payment for fixing a couple of his other locos (bachmann 57xx, 5 pole ringfield flying scotsman, bachmann 37/0). Runs really well, haven't run it in a while though.
Ahh fantastic - they are great runners! :D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Bachmann have really been on fire with their tank engines in recent times. Fairly priced, nicely decorated and almost always good runners. Have you ever reviewed their 57xx/87xx Pannier? I'm pretty sure it's old tooling but the decorations still look ok
They have - tank engines are something they do amazingly well!
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
