This is a good pep talk. I have many ugly pages in my reclamed book but I also have some really nice stuff in it as well. My art journal only has good stuff in it and it is very thin now. Love watching a fellow Australian, do some great stuff. I will enjoy watching more of your old and new stuff. 😀
I was stuck on bodies, I have been working on my doodle doll heads but I couldn't figure out bodies. The idea of cutting out body parts from magazines will help me to develop bodies. Thanks. Some times I just do washes of colors and textures then collage bits like working in layers. I realized in time to not try to complete a page nor work from front to back, but all over the book😄
bodies even for me are still a really huge learning point! I still create foodballers when Im trying to draw lovely soft ladies lol, we are all here to learn and if you need help then by all means get those magazines out, draw cut paste copy! all of it! whatever helps you learn I'm all about that process! glad you're having a good time in your journal!
Here I was feeling bad about being halfway through my book!.......I just felt so validated in the beginning of this series that it IS not wrong to let your pages just "become"! A page can be happy with one element....... and, when it "evolves" of nowhere, that is the best!
Thanks for the much needed kick up the bum Courtney. I need to just start and have fun with it. I was waiting for your next instruction lol but not any more! Thank you!
hooray! there will be a video before the end of the month! but yes please have fun inside your book, its all about the fun and the experimenting and the learning! not just from me but from lots of artists! happy to help you along the way though!! thanks for watching Marion, your runners up prize should hit your doorstop soon!
"I like creating things that don't exist because then I can't get them wrong." Just this sentence really opened my eyes to not be afraid of "miscreations" in my art journals! :)) Thank you so much!
I think your videos are just so jam packed full of inspiration and ideas that you make it feel SO easy that people feel empowered after they see them! That's why they stress without them! Your approach is exactly spot on and this is such a therapeutic and fun project.. Stress free, no rules! Had so much fun watching you play, those stamps are amazing and those creatures are so full of character!!
Thanks so much for stopping by! I always think sometimes we just need a good heart to heart chat about art not being something to worry about, even though we all do me included! Im glad I make it look easy because I honestly think it truly is if you're enjoying the process, its totally fun and easy! Im glad you're enjoying the series, there will be a new vid before the end of the month! xx C
I love it! This type of freestyle(that's what I call it, not sure if that is the correct word for it)is right up my alley!! I jumped right over & joined the FB group. I'm hella jazzed! Thanks so so much for sharing☺️
I really want to try this with one of my old photography books! But I'm not sure! I'm such a book nerd I couldn't imagine damaging one even if it's one I don't use and it old as anything! :P I did nearly cry when I saw on Instagram or Facebook someone wanting to use a bird ID book as one xD How do I get around this fear?!
You're right Courtney but I have difficulty of letting go and having fun. By watching you and others, helps to inspire me/us... Thank you for the encouragement.
what can i use instead of distress stains and get the same effect as they dont have that stuff here in my country and i could not afford them even if they did
Ok I love your process, I so enjoy your Art and I Thank You for all your videos. I have to ask though, where do you buy your jewelry if I may ask? I am sure its not all from one place, but I am kind of hoping maybe just maybe a few of them are...thus you can send me in that direction ;~) I love your rings. Thank You.
You said you would teach us how to work in this type of book, and you're celebrating people for already knowing HOW to work in it. I don't know how to work in it. You said you'd teach me. That's why I'm not doing it. You're not giving us what you said you would. If you don't have time, be honest and say that rather than blaming us for not knowing how to do what you do.
I am sorry you feel that way, I am only one woman, and I try my best to do as much as I can for this channel as well as the job that helps me support my family. I understand if you feel you aren't getting your 'moneys' worth from this series, what I wanted people to know is that even if it was a journal with me, or the scrap monsters all these things can be applied to your art journals/sewing book...the sewing book is just the book but it can be treated like any other journal you may keep. I am by no means blaming anyone for anything so I don't appreciate having words put into my mouth. I hope you still enjoy journalling even if its not the sewing book. There will be a video out for this series this week, as I said youtube is my side gig, I work very hard for a job that pays me. I do what I can when I can. Have a wonderful day. Courtney.
Well said...I love your videos
Newbie here.. lots of fun.. TFS💜

It occurred to me when you were talking about using double sided tape on your stamps to let you know that glue sticks work really well too👍
ohhh thanks for that tip I shall give it a go!!!
