Hey AK......your youth is showing.....it wasn't all that long ago when people used to actually eat IN subway stations...especially in major express stops....hot dogs....burgers...pizza.... breakfast....nice to see Jackson Heights so alive....great video as always
Mike thank you 40 years ago I had my suit store on 37ave in Jackson heights. Great memories. I’m in Miami with same men’s clothing store. Your great 👍 mike
4 months ago just a 3 blocks from where you started was the cities hardest hit hospital. The "apocalyptic" one in the papers. Seeing all those people out and living life is nothing short of a blessing.
Another nice tour - thanks for the video. Am amazed at the vitality in that area. You made several references to *salsa* music (which is usually Cuban & Puerto Rican). But actually, the background music sounds more like *Tejano* (Tex-Mex) music with occasional *merengue* (Dominican). All good music, of course. I hope all will be very well real soon throughout the entire City & USA. Stay safe one & all.
On Woodside Ave there is a around 2 blocks of all Thai restaurants and dessert bars. The mango mojito from Spicy Shallot is sooo good! We dubbed the area as "Little Thailand"
I can't believe all those tents and stands taking up huge amounts of space on the sidewalk. There was one corner, shortly before you got to the Junction Blvd station, where you were forced to walk under the tent. And all those people on the corner of 82nd St and Roosevelt Ave selling drinks, etc., - I wonder if they have to get some kind of permit from the city. I know years ago (back in the 1970's when I lived in NYC), there was very little selling that took place on the sidewalk. Obviously, things have changed.
It was interesting seeing so many restaurant seating areas under the tracks. I agree with you that outdoor eating with the frequent subway noise and multiple car fumes isn’t that attractive IMHO.
Love your videos, Ken. And you and Tom Delgado are a terrific combo! I do have one question: In many of your videos, whether they be filmed in Manhattan or in Queens, there seem to be so many buildings now with scaffolding in front of them. I used to live in an apt building on 73rd St. betw 37 Ave and Roosevelt Ave. In one of your "Jackson Hts." videos, you walked right near it. Even it had scaffolding in front of it. I didn't think it was that old. Is there some kind of tax write off going on now for property owners in the city for renovating buildings? I guess it could simply be the fact that many of the bldgs in NYC are getting old. Just like me! LOL
The good thing is that the 7 elevated line got an upgrade on taking off toxic chemicals from the 50 year old painted elevated structures. Dining under the elevated 7 subway line is safe.
Two major problems with dining under the 7 train- pigeon crap and falling debris from the tracks. Jackson Heights especially is known for their pigeon problems under the tracks and the 7 is in such disrepair that things are always falling off from the tracks. And to sweeten the pot let's add traffic and noise levels. Dining under the 7 is a disaster waiting to happen.
Not really, the 7 line elevated structures got repainted, taking off all Toxic Chemcials from the 50 year old elevated structures. It also included taking off dangerous debris. It was an Action plan part of the MTA in 2018
@@nyctransitrailfan Post 2018, there have been various incidents of things falling off the 7 line and damaging vehicles. Pieces that were large enough to cause serious injuries to people. Google is your friend.
8:40 Mr Panchos got in trouble with the city for not following social distance guidelines and got their liquor license suspended, that’s why you see it closed. Many places that got in trouble, were in the Jackson heights area.

NYC streets look like a landfill, and I wouldn't call a poorly run city always begging for bailouts from better run states successful, but that said, it still has it's charm.
I would never eat outside like that , all that dust, mosquitoes, people coughing and sneezing and the air spreads it more, imagine eating and a pigeon takes a shit and it lands on your food !!
I might stop by for a quick beer and some Cuomo Chips haha...but not for the time it would take to consume a full meal.. the decibel levels are way too high for me.. Nice to see Jackson Heights bustling..very creative in trying times.
FYI every time that train passes it’s throwing all the dirt from the tracks in your food like rust and dust enjoy.
And pigeon shit and dirty train track water 🤢🤮
Gives it that extra zest we all love
your videos are so relaxing 😊
Thank you!
11:27 that guy was like errrrrr. When you started coughing/sneezing :)
Matt Taylor lmao
Can u blame him
its allergy season. Lot of people sneezing to be fair
@@LeeEricsson yeah, but now it's seeing peoples reactions.... It's like you have to fart now to cover the cough sound....
All your videos make the viewers feel that we are also coming along with you in your travel. Super.

I had dinner on the 6 train and platform earlier this year before covid.
I used to eat bagels inside the subway

It's so Relaxing to watch this videos.
LOVED seeing Roosevelt Avenue under the 7 line, and with outdoor dining too!!
I used to leave in Queens growing up. It’s a wake up watching your videos. Thx
It's nice to see the city going back to normal slowly.
New York STRONG!!! 😍
So vibrant, so deadly!
WTF's deadly about this?
This is not a really a bad neighborhood, just dirty.

Why am I watching? Hehehe I live around the area I can go anytime I want hehehe. But I'm still here. It is usually that loud, all the time.
It's fun to watch your own neighborhood on video!
There are a lot of places to eat on 37th Avenue (one block north of Roosevelt) and you don't have to deal with the subway.

Except in LIC where the concrete regularly felt on to the street until they installed netting.
Love Jackson Heights

Rooservelt Ave is what most people think NYC is outside of the major tourist attractions.
So true
I will always ❤️ N.Y.

8 years away from queens nyc, now in Alligator Creek, Georgia. There is no reason to visit nyc anymore.
They usually send the clean up guys out at night to clean the streets and the sidewalks.
Cool video 😎
17:40 Or you can do the New York Way and eat on the go.
Wouldn't the people eating smell car exhausts?
@Harrison Ford will kill someone with his plane
Quarantine Special Smell 🍽
Is it mandatory to wear a mask outside in NY?
You wear mask to not get infected from others and if you have infection and are good human being, not infect others.
Yes, a mandate was made by NYC governor that makes wearing mask mandatory: it is enforceable by Police . If you are found without mask, Police can charge you with penalties.
Ozymandias It used to be the same in Poland, now they’ve changed it to masks only inside and we have a rise in new infections
@@luckylove72 NYPD has said they will not enforce that.
