I think that's a key difference. American audiences would assume "oh no, the crowd didn't get it, such a shame!". I saw Bo expecting and milking that for comedic value. Brilliant!
He played it well, he knew no one would do the call/response so he worked it into awkwardness, hence him subtlety saying "Oh booooo...." and played off it. Clever.
It's actuslly part of the bit! He intentionally doesn't prep them it reinforces the entire songs delusional narrative that there are these women craving him
This is the Edinburgh Comedy festival, it's a notoriously difficult crowd, if they don't like you you'll know it. There's been bigger comedians than him get booed off stage and never want to go back. As pretentious as it is to say the people in the crowd will have forgotten more about comedy acts than we will ever know, they're hanging on his words and don't miss a joke, it's pretty respectful to him!
YOU ALL THOUGHT THE CROWD WAS MENT TO SING ALONG YEAH YEAH BUT THEY WERE MENT TO BE QUIET BUT THE CROWD WASNT MENT TO SING YEAH YEAH ART IS A LIE NOTHING IS REAL
Yes the crowd was shit but I kinda feel like Bo told them not sing so when he did that it would be more funny because it was awkward because he did it alone. I liked it that way I laughed so hard. Bo does sometimes tell them not to sing for the videos.
@@jillbarbiaux1757 yea, because it's annoying when you're performing and others clap or sing along because they might mess with your tempo. But in this song he gives them a cue to a sing, he is obviously allowing them to sing
at least he uploaded this video here or else the footage would have been lost forever and a lot of people enjoy this video so it doesn't really matter if he's making money he's making people happy by uploading this up again.
I think he just sang it too fast, it's sometimes hard to understand if you don't already know the words. And he missed out the jackson pollack's easel line, which is a great line.
The crowed didn't suck just I think Americans tend to be more involved and vocal while Scottish/English people are more laid back and just enjoying the show
I've definitely not been making money off it. I haven't been on this account in a while so I don't know how long its had adverts on it for. I've now turned ads off. Thanks for pointing it out.
I don’t know why, maybe he thougth about that in the last minute or something. But there’s a version live with the part: ua-cam.com/video/ZvfHgdPb41o/v-deo.html
I have the house to myself right now, so I am playing this on repeat... Singing every word... Sincerly, a 15 year old girl who is in love with this guy.
@gunn1314 He said he likes the audiences in the UK and Europe. He said "The UK and Europe in general seem to be a lot more patient. The US are expecting 'joke joke joke joke joke joke joke'. They don't actually sit and listen to you. Over here they're more patient for you to try new and weirder things"
I think people quite often have reservations about an act they haven't seen before come on with an instrument. That and yeah most people wouldn't have been there to see him, especially.
I feel bad for bo, i live in the uk and i just had that instinct that people wouldnt laugh much at him because people have fucking standards over here i felt sooooo bad when the crowd was silent whrn he expected them to say oh bo.
the funniest thing is that in the original live (which cannot be found now) before this song, Bo made comic calculations, in which he said "according to statistics, on 9/11, most houses of cards are destroyed," after which the audience stopped laughing in principle
At :02 Bo was kinda hoping for an applause or some sort of recognition after thanking the crowd but all he got was the silent treatment. You can see his eyes darting in every direction as a signal of, "Get me out of here...".
@psychosissafari he only hates it when he doesnt call on people to do it, when i went to see him he got pissed when people sang but when he sang oh bo he called on the audience to sing "oh bo" at those same two parts
