It’s awful losing our doggie family members. We take in old dogs and sickly older dogs so we know they won’t be with us long. I love and miss every dog I’ve ever had over my life time. I have an 18 yr old Puggle and a 14 yr old Chihuahua Terrier. Bonded pair, for past 3 years. Their health has improved over this time. We love them so much 🐶🐶

My 2 Dachshunds were found roaming the streets together and are most likely related- the shelter wasn't saying they were 'bonded' and that they could be adopted out separately. My husband and I couldn't let that happen, so although we only went in to adopt one originally, we came out with both of them so that they wouldn't be separated. It's a good thing too, because the boy dog would have been sooo devasted without her. He already has massive anxiety, especially when my husband leaves for work. He cries like a little baby, even though I'm home 24/7. It's sad that the shelter didn't see their bond like your shelter, I'm just glad we came along when we did and they didn't have to get separated. ❤

@tamsintarshish3905 That's so sad to lose a dog like that, no wonder your son was devasted, I would have been too. Dachshunds are great dogs, a little stubborn, but I love them. My fur baby of 18 passed away last year, and I still miss him everyday! He was a Dachshund/Chihuahua Mix, another rescue of ours. Dachshunds are usually pretty hard to find in shelters, we just really lucked out with these two. They are from a town several hours away, but we were traveling through anyways because of the holidays- right when their hold was up, so it worked out perfectly. I'm sorry to hear about your furbaby you recently lost, I definitely understand how hard it is.

If tilt their head lower than heart level (for big dogs) or raise their butt higher than their head, it usually stops.

My Chihuahua Chico lived to be 18 years old.
Ex-rays confirmed His reverse cough was a condition called a Collapsing Trachea and it was like breathing through 2 straws.
Chico’s collar was for tags only and a harness for walks.
Small dogs are prone to Collapsing Trachea.
I had a Chico who was 20 yrs old when he passed 4 months ago💔

This is why we need a nationwide registry for lost pets. Something that easily les you search for location, breed, color, size, age, and any other common feature. Being able to start the search within 5 or 10 miles, then expanding if needed. If everyone across the country all goes to the same place to post lost or found pets, many more would be found by their owners.
We have implemented your proposal here for decades. We also had to read tattoos for years, which became increasingly difficult to read as the animal got older.
Now it is finally the breeder's and owner's turn to have their pet microchipped. Note: The chip number must be registered asap so your name is linked to the animal in question.

@@paulvanderweerd7456I’ve read that sometimes they still can’t read the microchips. Also not all microchips can be read by the same scanners. So it depends on the chip the dog has, if it was placed well, and the type of scanner the facility has. Microchips only kind of work, unfortunately.

I agree - my dog now is the first I have had microchipped and I feel SO much more secure knowing that she would be much more likely to be returned to me if she was lost.
I hope their owner finds them! It doesn't mean it's a case of owner neglect. They could have been in someone else's care or with a dog walker.
I lost my fur son, after 15 years on September 1st, 2023, and it is still having a very big impact on me.....I miss him so much, it makes my heart ache. His name is CHarcoal, and he was a Cairnoodle, father was a Cairn terrier and his mother was a silver poodle, which are rare. He was coal black, with silver on his head, and his feet. I wish I could stop hurting! I am still having nightmares, of finding him in his bed, where he passed! It's hard to even concentrate on anything....I am not ready to adopt, now...maybe never. It is heart-wrenching!
You need to give your love to another fur baby in need! Believe me, it will heal you! I have many dogs in my lifetime, it hurts every time when they cross, but I believe I will see them again when my time comes.
@@juliesilvaggio804 I hear what you are saying. However, this person needs to heal on their own time and in their way. Whether that means waiting to get, a dog, cat, fish, etc. Not getting an animal ever again. Or getting an animal right away.
This choice is theirs and theirs alone.
I am sorry you lost your fur baby. It has to be somewhat peaceful and comfortable for him to pass away in his sleep, maybe dreaming of good times. Taking a pet in to be put to sleep is awful.
I finally got another pet after all three of my cats passed. Just got a lil Bichpoo and he's so sweet. I never knew this new little dog would bring so much joy.

I am sorry but when a dog gets out it is the owners fault 90 % of the time sorry . I know u don't agree Rocky and have compassion for those 10% THAT ACTUALLY lose their dogs . Let them get a loving and a caring home instead of neglectful home. I can see one dog getting lost not two , it is neglect pure and simple , poor babies. . I lov them . these babies deserve better . I have 13 year old Pomeranian and she sneezes and coughs like that because she has a small trachea and the food gets stuck ing their throats like that, they should be checked out for that...they are so precious, I pray they find a loving home...God Bless you Rocky.
They are the cutest. Someone may be looking for them . I think they should give the 10 day. It is so unfair if the true owners are looking for them . We don’t know what the story is , perhaps they were stolen from another city/state. They look like they were well cared for. I just watched another person who was looking for her dog and she was criticized , it turned out there was a house fire(lost everything) and she was put up in a temp place where the lock was broken , dog got out in an unfamiliar area . It would be a few months before she had a new permanent home . She was desperately looking for her dog . It would be a few months before she would have a new permanent home. She did get her dog back but it took a few days .

I just lost my littermates I raised from puppies. I lost the the boy 14 year old This past Friday from. Kidney failure. His sister 6 months ago from kidney failure. Pekingese, chihuahua mixes. I would LOVE to have them both!!! I have experience with reverse coughing, we also have a shihpoo who has that.

I never had much respect for little dogs until a very scared little Chihuahua was abandoned near me. On a cold rainy day, I coaxed her out of her hiding place and brought her home. For two weeks, my daughter and I combed the area looking for an owner to no avail. Needless to say, she soon became the queen of my pack of big dogs. We shared our home with her for ten wonderful years until she passed. RIP Punkin, you were one of a kind and sorely missed. I hope these lovely pups find their forever home soon, they are absolutely precious.💕🐾🐾

It always amazes me that people are so reluctant to adopt bonded pairs. I guess I can understand it if you're talking Great Danes, because most people have limited room. But little dogs and all cats? It's really no more work and makes the animals so much happier. I guess the expense, but still.

I adopted a bonded pair of little dogs three years ago, they are very sweet. It is a little more work and expense, but one bonus is that they keep each other company when I have to be gone. Another plus is that they are so cute when I walk them that many people stop and exclaim over them.
They are so cute! Wish we could take them. We have 3 pups already and where we live you legally only have 3 pups. I pray they find. a wonderful home, they deserve it.

My res ues are a bonded pair. They don't get very far away from each other. If one has to go to the vet I have to take the other. It's too stressful not to. Mine are black also. They had been in the shelter the longest so I went yo meet them and it was a perfect fit. Every evening we get in the recliner with a blankie snuggle until bed time. They were so scared when I got them.❤❤❤

Rocky, these are not Chihuahuas but but Miniture Pinchers. We have two of them, and I belong to a MinPin group. There are breeders in your area and they would come and get them. These breeders know who is looking for pets. I wish I lived closer. They are great escape artists and they are very expensive. I'm in Seattle and would take them in a heartbeat ❤❤❤

I adopt 2 chihuahua mix brothers in 2004 . And I just lost one in October. But his brother is still kicking . He will be 19 yrs and 8 months on Feb 10 th . And would do it all over again. I’d take them in a minute. The 2 I adopted had the same problem but eventually they were ok . Oh I’d love to have them. If I could get them to Ohio I’d take both in a minute
