  • Hi friends 🌸 We spent two weeks in Vietnam to go to a meditation retreat and got a few extra days in Hanoi before leaving. During the meditation retreat vegan options were limited (although they weren't supposed to be.... why always on spiritual retreats?!) so we ended up eating literally only sweet potato and rice noodle soup every day, three times a day.
This of course made us sick, so after a week and a half of being sick, it was so nice to be back in Hanoi and eat food containing FIBRE!
So that's why we're not eating that much Vietnamese food in this video 🍜
Thank you so much for watching 🌺

Very strange that there were no vegan options at the retreat. I would expect many conscientious people to go there, so many vegan/vegetarian people.

I agree! I'm planning to make a video on it because unfortunately it's a common thing with the spiritual retreats. There's just a lack of understanding and compassion.

I'm vegan too. Since I was born. If those places were for real spiritual, they should NOT have any other type of food. You get me.

How fun!!!👍. What a great way to travel! I got to do some traveling in Europe, especially Italy, when I was young, before my children were born. I ate everything at that time in my life, eating every kind of pasta known to man. Sorry that the food for your birthday wasn't more to your liking.. Eating in foreign countries and even sometimes locally, can be challenging when you have restrictions such as vegan. I, personally, am doing Food Addicts in Recovery Anonymous, which has been a Godsend. I had ruined my health with the years of yo-yo dieting that I did. So happily my body is responding quickly to the very natural raw and cooked vegetables done in minimalist style, with no sauces or condiments. I am finding the foods ' favors very exciting and ate over 11 different veggies for breakfast 😊 day before yesterday. Hope you a great trip and find more enjoyable foods on your travels. Have fun and love on each other! Grandma says!!!😊. ❤❤❤ 🇺🇸🧑‍🦳

Vietnam has more vegan choices than I do here in America. I want the frozen banana smoothie!

I love it when the younger generation goes to countries I wouldn't be caught dead in ;) - Only country in that region of the world that is on my bucket list is Japan - One of my biggest concerns about these countries.....Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Indonesia is hygiene - and.....that there is little to no pesticide regulation - so even if the food is vegan, unless its stipulated organic (and I'm not sure I would trust that), its a bit of a crap shoot. Still, at your age I was much more adventurous, and much less 'cautious'. Thank you for another great video Saga. It is a joy to follow you on your journey! Next!

@@SagaJohanna - life long dream to go to Japan. And I hear the hygiene is on par with where I live (and Scandinavia) so all is good 😌

Hej! Have you tried the Durian Fruit? There or in your travels? It is suppose to smell bad, but taste good. Stay safe!

@@SagaJohanna The first time I had heard of it, was on a tv show, Andrew Zimmermann, (?), who went to different countries, eating foods from there. He tried it in a few places, almost threw up, haha. And I use to chat with a woman from Indonesia, until covid, and she said how good it really was! What do you think was the worse food stuff is, you have tried? Be safe out there!
