    I heard the Hanoi's train street cafe is a bit confusing because of a new process. It was open to the public before but apparently some tourist got hurt by the train when he/she was doing video or selfie couple of years ago. So the Hanoi authority shut it down and put in a new protocol to address the popularity for the tourist experience plus their own resident on that street desire to make a living.
    They require each cafe to take full ownership and responsibility for the "guests" that are at the cafe. The cafe owners must bring you in, make sure you understand the rule and oblige when they tell you to back off as the train approaches.
    Must say your video of train street is the best one I had seen in terms of build up to the train arrival.

      Yes, it does get confusing because there are so many possible entry points but they are closed and the residents themselves will not allow you in unless you go through the proper entrance with an escort. They are the ones leading you to the cafes and really just taking care of you there. If you don’t have an escort they will really kick you out. We saw multiple groups get kicked out because they did not have a seat at a cafe. The cops/guards came in and really escorted them out. I think it’s actually better because it limits the number of people per area. If the seats are occupied in one spot, they are made to move to another instead of squeezing themselves in. Also, the coffee there is cheap anyway and it’s a way to support a local business. We were there for like 2-3 hours, we had seats and we only had one cup each for about 35VND ($1.40) per cup. We fully support that system, I think it’s a win-win. The residents make some money and the tourists are safer. The train really is funny though 🤣🤣🤣 thank you so much, we’re glad you found it amusing, we were thoroughly impressed with how the locals handled that too. They really gave us a show 😅

    When you guys went to Bún chả Hương Liên, did you go see the tableset that has been enshrined that Barack and Anthoney used? I believe it's on the second floor.

    • @EdsandJoyce
      @EdsandJoyce  6 місяців тому

      Hello! Yes, we did indeed :) We were lucky enough to have been seated a couple of seats away :) 6:24 we wish we could have shown it more, but there were people seated next to us we didn’t want to disturb their meal hehe. That glass case was so cool!
