My grandfather's hometown!! I'm Chinese Malaysian here! My grandfather migrated to Malaysia in 1932!! I wanna visit this place and find out more about my grandpa's village and hometown, sob sob....
Hi ,I'm Ron from Minnesota .I was born in Kampot province ,Cambodia. My real name is liang in Hainam language or meaning Dragon .My grandpa also migrate from Hainam around that year as well.
Super ❤️ To be honest, it’s really hard for russians too to understand locals, despite there is a russian translations everywhere. Chinese people don’t understand russian and don’t understand english too. But in any case Hainan is incredible! Thanks for this video, I miss Sanya so so sooo much now when coronavirus is everywhere and the borders are closed 😢
Was there 5 years ago. It was then a good place for the Northerners to escape the harsh winter and poor air. I was not so impress with the infrastructure then, but I heard the government had done a tremendous job to clean up the island, improved the road and airport, built a round the island High speed train network, and turned it into a non industry but touristy paradise . Also surprised to learn that foreigners do not require visa to enter this Chinese island. I shall return to check it out again.
Very true about the harsh-winter-escaping tourist part. There were so many Russians in January 2013 when I was there. Hainan was not so nice back then, still decent. I remember there were a lot of hotels and stuff being built around that time.
What a beautiful place. What's the conversion to the U.S dollars to UN and how expensive is the hotels there? I never heard of this place, I think a lot of Americans never heard of it either, but now I think more Americans will visit there thanks to you. : )
Thanks for sharing this... I'm moving from Brazil to Sanya in the next few days and I'm very nervous, anxious and freaking out about moving to another country, another culture etc etc One thing I can't find though is about the urban life in Sanya, I guess most people who goes there are looking for the beaches so all the videos are related to it, but I'm a more urban type of guy haha
The Communist Party stole all of China by force (and millions of dead Chinese people were the result (upwards of 100 million in total in the Chinese Civil War, Cultural Revolution, Great Leap Forward). I believe no Hawaiians died (but not positive). The original inhabitants of Hainan, who were not ethnic Chinese (and not Han) were driven from Hainan by invaders from Fujian Province. Some fled to the Mountains, and others left Hainan for what is the current day Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, and elsewhere. And then there were also those who fled after the Communist Party took power.
Omg I am soo glad I saw this video! I planned tocome this week actually but ditched my holiday in favor of studying in Yangshuo (also beautiful place). I heard that Sanya is best for surfing in winter and not as excruciating hot but still summerweather so I figured I go for winterholidays. So awesome to now find out I don’t need to get a visa!!!
Hey you said Americans can travel to Hainan, China for 30-days Visa Free, there is one important part that I've seen from various sites, don't you require a Travel Agency to obtain the 30-days Visa Free entry? As that's a bit of a drawback as I would think we should be able to do without one. BTW, great video!!
I think early spring, autumn, and winter would be better (and try to aviod all Chinese Public Holidays). Fly to Sanya is the fastest way, you can also take a train from Guangzhou.
It is nothing wrong with being cheap sometimes! The 15 yuan you saved can be spent on some food and something to drink. The ice cream was well deserved after walking around in all that heat! The Nanshan temple looked really beautiful. Great job on the video as always. Looking forward to the next one! Take care! 😊
I was there about 5 years ago for 5 months when winter. Hopefully when I move back to China I can move to this island with my wife. Thank you so much for this video very nice.
haha that's how I felt about the Kung Pao chicken when I was in the states, so different, thank you for the video, it is fun to watch. Will def go check it out after the covid clean up in Shanghai.
Hiiiii, thank you for exploring my hometown Hainan. It is really nice video. I think you did a better job than Hainan tourism board for showcasing Hainan, lol. I agree with you that there is lack of English translation in services, which is inconvenient for English speaking tourists and many other foreign tourists that do not speak either Chinese or Russian. I really think Hainan government should improve that if they want to promote the island to international markets. Also, I didn't see you had any Hainanese dishes, at least in the video. I would highly recommend you to try some local Hainanese food, and go out of Sanya city, you would see a different side of Hainan island. Thank you again for this awesome video!❤️
I like your video. Really great! Now it's a good time to travel in Sanya, Hainan. Of cause, you can also go there in winter. I think Sanya is always a great travel destination for holiday. Sanya is also the most popular tourism city among China natives. Thank you for your share and welcome to travel to more cities of China like Xi'an, Chengdu and you will have a completely different but the same amazing travel experience 👍😊👍
Oh ...Thank you so much for updated this wonderful video on youtube , i just graduated high school in this year june 2019 and i am going continuous my study in the Hainan university .hope that would be fun and beautiful as i thought #from laos
wait,,,that seemed a little weird, so Americans and Canadians don't need visa to travel there, but most of the places are in English and Russian? How about regular North Americans that don't speak/read Chinese or Russian? LOL
Most places are in Chinese and Russian. Yes, there is a visa agreement with the US and Canada that allows those citizens to travel only to Hainan island visa free for 30 days.
If you go there during the off seasons, Hainan is very cheap, even Marriott/Hilton are going to be less than 100usd after tax with killer beaches. 30~50usd gets you a nice holiday inn express level hotel. Do not recommend go any cheaper than $30, won’t be as clean. Or there’re always hostels.

Sukinang!
Lived here for 8 months years ago, still my favorite place, watch out for the jellyfish though they hurt!
I was there in march ...😍..so beautiful island....
Super ❤️ To be honest, it’s really hard for russians too to understand locals, despite there is a russian translations everywhere. Thanks for showing us Hainan. It says "Kung Pao Chicken" on the wall for the chicken dish.
Wow, didn't realize it was that cool there, definitely will add to my list, thanks Pat.
i stay in Sanya and i know that its beautiful and i love Sanya,Hainan😍😍
I absolutely loved Sanya! The heat and humidity was a bit of a struggle mind you.
Thank you for such an awesome video! I'm moving to Sanya in a few weeks, and this only made me a million times more excited.
What's the internet access like? Is it reliable and what's your speedtest.net results?
I was there last week. Hotel was great. Only a few people at swimming pool. Beach at Haitang Bay was empty. It was very relaxing.

I was there for a year as a trainee and now I'm back home. it's been two months and I still miss Sanya. Such a beautiful place
We've always wanted to go to Hainan Island and you've just confirmed that this place is a little gem! Thank you for taking us along with you. 😍🤩
OK bro you got me. Will be in Hainan coming 2020, LOL
Ivan Ly 2020? You here bro ?
how's that going mate with the coronavirus
Sanya is super nice in the low season, very inexpensive.
Don't go there during Chinese New Year, most of us likely can't afford a 4 Star hotel.
WOW!
I would move there permanently! ... Absolutely Stunning!
What a beautiful place. What's the conversion to the U.S dollars to UN and how expensive is the hotels there? I never heard of this place, I think a lot of Americans never heard of it either, but now I think more Americans will visit there thanks to you. : )
Christine Kim America media quiet intrested in report fake news about China, for instance: xin jiang , Tibet, HK .....
No thanks, please, we want to keep this place american-free.
It does feel like you are in Hawaii or Cancún, México.
Russian language and Cyrillic alphabet in China. Big surprise for me. :):):)

Most Chinese won’t go to Hanna for vacation, cause Thailand is much more cheaper ¡
At least its island is not stolen by force, unlike Hawaii.

I was there in 2016... I miss this place too much.
I live here bro. Awesome video. Next time, you should come to Atlantis in Haitang Bay. Come visit.
I'm going to sanya next week, I'll note this down 😎
Thanks Pat. Sanya really looks like Tropical 6!
三亞的同胞們, 為什麼三亞的景色那麼像小島大亨? 市長是玩遊戲玩多了嗎?
木鸡,可能是。也许该玩玩城市天际线XD
I've been to both Hawaiian islands and Sanya Islands!
This is my dad's birth place! I'm sure it doesn't look anything like this when my dad was there. He was born in 1915 lol
every plane to Sanya flies around the
Guanyin buddha before landing
I was in Sanya in December 2014, I felt sad when it was time to leave.
loved it...
it would be more lovely if you had included nights of 'da dong hai'
Amazing! ❤❤❤ Thank you! 👍
I can feel the high temperature through the video. I wouldn't walk in the sun that way.

Thanx PatMax! Awesome short yet insightful video
beautiful!! i'm going there with my family this winter.
I feel that the food is expensive in Hainan. A coconut costs you RMB20!!!
that's right.Sanya is too expensive.In Haikou,it only costs you 7-10RMB.

rikin patel in winter i guess😂
I smiled when seeing you swim in the ocean. Great video!
Nice, I spend a lot of time traveling on google maps throughout South East Asia and didn’t even know about this place lmao 😆
It's not a true Patmax Adventures video, if Patrick doesn't trip over something! 🤣 Loved the video, great content as always!
Your comment gave me a good laugh tonight! It's so true lol
Love your video, Patrick, very professionally done!

Great video! Nice to see a video where someone discussed the prices of things in Sanya so I can compare them to the prices in Shanghai 😂
I was there about 5 years ago for 5 months when winter. Hopefully when I move back to China I can move to this island with my wife. Thank you so much for this video very nice.
Wow, what a good day in the sunny paradise. Good for you mate.

Hello how’s the university in Hainan? I tried the contact the international dept, but I think the email address was not valid.
Wow!! Totally worth going there !
Search for videos China Hiking, Finding the lost Tibetan village of Yubeng!
Thank you so much for this vlog. It is exactly what I was looking for.
Beautiful & clean. Does anyone know if Americans can purchase a property here on the island?
This is interesting! Thanx for the informative vid, Pat ;-)
Since you said thanx, try listening to ‘thanxx’ by ATEEZ. :)). It’s a really good song!
that shopping mall was boring, seemed dead quiet
Terrific and informative video. Great job! I love Panda Express Lol!
Which beach would you recommend to avoid the crowds during Golden Week?
Plz help me north east (india) we are same origin.. Indian government discriminate to my look is chinese
My cousin has married to a hainan boy. I wish I could go to hainan for vacation.
I think Hainan needs better marketing to attract more foreign visitors?...but yeah i feel Hainan wants to be like Jeju island
There are some incredible plant species endemic to that island -- would love to see a jungle/hiking review.
Cool
just went here was pretty good and dam hot
Would love to visit there!
Ur camera is very gd comparing with those of other videos. The sea and sky are heavily greyish in those clips.

It's a pity not to live in the Treehouse Hilltop Resort over there.
Close to Hawaii but less beggars and cleaner.
why youtube delete my subs to you. anyway you got my subs again!!
nice vids and welcome back to China again
Very very interesting, thanks.
Hai friends and patmax family
Use samsung bixby vison language problems clear
i pretty love this island, hopefully would be there in next summer .
Expensive and lousy.
Why is sunscreen more expensive?
Recently found out my grandmother is from Hainan. Didn’t realize how beautiful this place was. Looking forward to visiting one day
very quiet place , no more tourists
Seems like a great place, but I hope it's possible to find water for a lower price than that.
It’s so beautiful, your videos gives me motivation to go to Sanya.
Love the idea electrical scooters only.
this comment is from sanya
Good video
你真有意思
I thought Americans were banned from that island. 🤔
No particular citizens are banned but foreigners should show their passport in order to enter the beach.
You might be thinking of the one in the Philippines.
There was a big nude beach beside the naval base in the old city. That is gone.
Thank you ⚡
the price of the coconet and icecream is too expensive.
I totally agree. It's a tourist destination, so of course things will be more expensive.
我去年去海南旅游,结果下了整整一个礼拜的暴雨,住在棕榈岛酒店,超级便宜的海景房480元一天(淡季特价),从深圳过去机票也很便宜,可惜没有去海边
very good place.I love it.
Love ur videos, thanks, bro.
物价比大陆内的贵好多,,
thaaanks!
Def going in the future 👍🏻 tyyyyy
welcome to china!
wish they can have english in the place so that you guys can come without having trouble translating
@Sugarfoot 007 文化自信固然好,但是你这就抬杠了,不过是为了当地生意更好的建议,不然你说说为啥那么多俄语?
1 country 2 system
The dumpling is too expensive 18yuan!!! It should be 10 yuan ,no more than that..
18 yuan is an average price for dumplings.
Tourist tax, not student price.
I was wondering how expensive the place you stayed was. Some place not posh but clean and safe?
I just checked on ctrip. At the end of October you can have a three Star hotel for 30 dollars. Not bad at all
