  • Yellow Gold vs Platinum | What Color Ring Setting Is Right For You? | 2ct vs 2.1ct Round Diamond
    Watch today's video all the way through! In today’s episode, we are featuring a 2.0ct Two Tone Pave Ring VS a 2.1ct Signature By Bonnie 6 Prong Platinum Pave Ring comparison. What color ring setting do you like? Let me know in the comments ;)
    #bybonnie #2ctround #2ct #engagementring #GIAdiamond #roundcut #rounddiamond #pave #6prong #paveband #signature #ringcomparison #comparison #platinum #yellowgold
    Pointer #1: Why Two-Tone?
    Platinum helps keep the center stone whiter! Remember, no matter how high the color grade of your diamond is, yellow prongs will reflect in the diamond. Platinum prongs won’t change color or fade over time, making sure your center diamond stays white and sparkles to its full potential.
    Pointer #2: Our clients deserve only the best diamonds! We trust our eyes beyond what’s listed on the certificate. You simply can't see or trust the difference between stones by just comparing them online. This is the true difference you’ll find working with us - making sure you get the most value out of your investment.
    Pointer #3: 14K gold is 57.5% pure gold, 42.5% alloy. This gives it a subtle yellow color and makes for a harder metal. 18K gold is softer but more vividly colored. 18K gold is 75% pure gold and 25% alloy.
    Let me know what you guys thought of this week’s video and leave a comment to let me know what I should talk about next!

    My split shank, cornflower blue sapphire halo ring is in white gold. The stone is 1.97 carats (I maximized the mm dimensions). It replaced my original ring, which had yellow gold because the stone handed down was clearly not white. 38 years after the fact, I have the exact ring I want, after first deciding on an ornate Edwardian design, then a starkly modern tension-set ring. 20 years later, we chose ImSS Paloma Picasso crossover band rings, but after breaking my hand, mine no longer fit and could not be sized. And my next replacement was a stunner-old mine Tanzanite-but at that time I had not realized how soft a stone it is, and not really a suitable daily ring.
    Had I gone for a diamond, I would have chosen a truly yellow, like daffodil (cool) yellow, diamond. It too would be set in white metal. I never prefer yellow metal. I love your channel since discovering it. ♥️ the sparkley and not at all ashamed of it. 🤗

    14K gold is where it's AT. 18K is too soft and too bright. I used to like white gold and platinum but now I just really don't like it anymore! So weird how our tastes change. I have a 14K setting and I adore it.

    • @AnnClaire
      @AnnClaire 2 роки тому +5

      SOME settings look better in platinum though I agree. The ring you are showing that's just a setting covered in diamonds, you might as well just use platinum. Mostly though I think yellow gold is better.

      @@AnnClaire I like yellow gold with solitaires and paves in platinum! I dont like when its a bunch of small diamonds in yellow gold, takes away from the whitenessness for sure.

    • @AnnClaire
      @AnnClaire 2 роки тому +2

      @@everydaybeans yes agreed! I have a five stone in 14K yellow and it's perfect.I haven't noticed any discoloration on the diamonds they're still just shiny as can be, blends into my skin so nicely. I haven't noticed any discoloration on the diamonds they're still just shiny and white as can be! but yup I'm there with you on the pave in white or platinum 100%. Also 18K gold in general just looks too bright and garish to me. But probably cause I have a muted skin tone and bright colors don't work well.

    • @everydaybeans
      @everydaybeans 2 роки тому +1

      @@AnnClaire Yeah my round brilliant with a plain gold 14K band is so bright, I love the subtle contrast it gives. 18K was too strong on my skin tone too, looked like a banana colour haha! 14K all the way! I do want to have a white gold half eternity band as my wedding band though, and you can actually have it two toned where the prongs are white gold and then the ring underneath is yellow so it matches at the bottom.

      18k isn’t to soft people throw around soft as of it plastic it’s how the piece is build u can have a 24k ring but it’s how the design is that will make it soft

    I have 14k yellow gold ring band and prongs and I love it. It is pave so I can see every individual diamond better as well 🥺 I also feel that yellow gold makes a more yellow diamond look less yellow

    Wow both are gorgeous! Love the 18k yellow gold especially. Would the platinum prongs develop a patina over time and become darker?

    • @myrnacoloma1770

      Yes back to real color of gold...become yellowish but you can make shine in white again thru rhodium

  • @theshinythings123
    @theshinythings123 2 роки тому +17

    I actually think people who like yellow gold should just go all yellow gold even on the prongs. First the color is the same so it's more seamless and also it just looks more yellow which is the point if someone prefers yellow gold. So much of the ring just looks like white metal I notice when people do the white prongs.

    • @verydenise

      The reason for white prongs is so the diamond doesn’t reflect yellow and look like lower color grade.

    • @4evadiamonds667

      If you’re looking for durability I guess 10k is for you. I wouldn’t buy anything less than 18k, then I might as well buy silver. 10k is the least amount of gold mostly made of alloy metal pretty much worthless cause it’s hardly gold at all. Unless you buy 24k , 18k is the best and no it’s not soft at all. Every piece of jewelry I own is 18k and none has broken on me while wearing

      I prefer the color of 10k gold but people turn their nose up. I’m not concerned about value as I’m not looking to make money off my rings but I personally love the way 10k yellow gold looks on my skin. So soft
