I’ve already got a DX5R for some of my other boats and going to be picking up a sonicwake soon so it’s great to know I’ll have these features. Thanks for another quality video mate. Easily the best and most informative rc boat channel on UA-cam.
I’ve been using a DX5 Pro for 5 years on my Arrma’s and upgraded to the Firma 160 on my Kraton. Even with Gens Ace batteries I use the telemetry for voltage. On my non Firma ESC’s I solder in the voltage wires and I can read voltage but those use SR6100 receivers. In the market for a modern boat. The Sonicwake 36 V2 is most likely what I’ll end up with. Mainly because I have so many 6S packs and I’m tired of breaking my Blackjack 29 V1 and searching for weeks for replacement parts. And the fact I can see the telemetry in more detail haha!
Dude, i love you’re vids.. but the correct way to callibrate youre transmitter is by learning the positions in you’re esc. The same way with all other rc vehicles like planes, cars and copters. Just some beeps and no engine turning. Read the manual, page 11😅 just try it! But i’m learning a lot of you. Going to get myself a dx5 for my blackjack and sonicV2. You’re channel is the reason i buy these boats! 🎉
@@IRONCLADRChats cause you use the transmitter menu settings. But this works without the TX menu. What to do is set the esc in callibration mode (not programming). The esc beeps first for neutral position, then give it full throttle, then is beeps, en then reverse, it beeps. Done.. no rev of the engine. U can even unplug one cable of the engine to be safe. Wait, i copied the text of the manual below: ESC andTransmitter Calibration 1. Begin with the transmitter and receiver binding complete. 2. Set your transmitter’s throttle channel to 100% travel and trim to neutral. 3. Turn on your transmitter and connect a battery to the ESC but don’t power it on. 4. Press and hold the Set button while turning on the ESC. When the red LED begins to flash, release the Set button. The ESC will enter programming mode if the button is pressed for more than three seconds. TIP: The red LED should be fl ashing when the ESC enters calibration mode. If the green LED is fl ashing the ESC is in programming mode. 5. Leave the throttle trigger at the neutral position, then press and release the Set button. The red LED will stop fl ashing, the green LED will fl ash one time and the motor will make a tone to indicate the neutral position has been accepted. 6. Hold the throttle trigger at the full throttle position then press and release the Set button. The green LED will fl ashe twice and the motor will make two tones to indicate the full throttle position has been accepted. 7. Hold the throttle trigger at the full brake position then press and release the Set button. The green LED will fl ash three times and the motor will make three tones to indicate the full brake position has been accepted. The motor will operate normally after calibration is completed.
So informative, Currently running the Spektrum. FHSS to be able to get waterproof receivers and great range but It looks like I need to get this on all my boats. Are the receivers waterproof How heavy are the smart esc‘s? Do they run plenty of amps?
I just looked at the link, the receiver is not waterproof. Not very SMART for a boat 😁 I wonder if it could be filled with epoxy Now I’m wondering if the ESC is waterproof
I want to use the DX3 remote with the module. How would I set up the rollout? I know with a car you can count the turns on the pinion as you roll it but with a boat you cannot do that. I know it's a four-pole motor but baffled on what to put in for the rollout for accurate speed.
So I just bought the DX5 not the DX5 rugged. So the binding process for my V2 should be about the same correct? And I can buy this to my blackjack 42 as well correct? Thank you in advance
I’m sorry but what do you mean by over discharge the battery’s does the esc not have lipo cut off or are you just one of those guys that doesn’t like hitting lipo cut off?
If your are using batteries other then Spektrum smart batteries, you will get just battery pack volts, if you have the SPMA9570A pack voltage senor. It is a two wire sensor . Solder it into the the main positive and negative battery leads at the Battery side of the ESC and then plug it into your SR6100RT receiver at the voltage port. Works great.
You'll need to use spektrum lipos and firma speed controls to get speed. You'll need to program the roll out in the dx5 to get a round about speed reading. IMO I'd go with the pro for speed read outs.
@@IRONCLADRC Man i´m so clueless; i just updated everything on my Tyhpoon with a sr315 and i cant see shit from the battery ; also on the homepage it says the 315 is not telemetry rdy

I got the DX5c from your recommendation. Thanks for the info
Thanks for this Big B. I just bought a DX5C and a bunch of SR315 receivers so this was really informative 👌 👍
Your gonna love it lots of options. Fast response.

Hmmm. That's odd! Every time I've calibrated my dx5 it's always revved the motor. Well there has been a few exceptions. I'll look into it. Thanks

Very informative video well done sir. Keep up the great work. 💪💪
very good ,,i.m.china dx5 no chinese book ,this very good
So you need the spektrum batteries 🤔
Thank you very much
love the rpm
So informative,
Currently running the Spektrum. FHSS to be able to get waterproof receivers and great range but It looks like I need to get this on all my boats.
Are the receivers waterproof
How heavy are the smart esc‘s?
Do they run plenty of amps?
Yes there water resistant.
The spektrum esc's are boss I like them
I just looked at the link, the receiver is not waterproof.
Not very SMART for a boat 😁
I wonder if it could be filled with epoxy
Now I’m wondering if the ESC is waterproof
I use corrosion X on all of my receivers water proof or not.
Does the voltage telemetry only work with spectrum battery's?
Going to buy the boat myself but they have a package with other brand lipo's.
Yes, only spectrum smart Battery's
I want to use the DX3 remote with the module. How would I set up the rollout? I know with a car you can count the turns on the pinion as you roll it but with a boat you cannot do that. I know it's a four-pole motor but baffled on what to put in for the rollout for accurate speed.
Wish I could help with that one, I've been wondering the same thing?
I use futaba telemetry TX for all my planes cars and boats. Would the spectrum smart ESC work with it,
Not sure. I wish I could help. Spektrum uses Spektrum specific batteries and transmitter for telemetry
Does it retain the telemetry if you don't run Spektrum batteries in the boat? I mainly would buy this rugged for the ESC temp alarm feature..
Partial telemetry everything but ⚡️ voltage. Fairly positive
Dude! Do you or would you see a pimped out model?? Please
So I just bought the DX5 not the DX5 rugged. So the binding process for my V2 should be about the same correct? And I can buy this to my blackjack 42 as well correct? Thank you in advance
Ne er run the dx5 so I can't speak for the binding process, & yea fairly certain you can bind to the bj42
I’m sorry but what do you mean by over discharge the battery’s does the esc not have lipo cut off or are you just one of those guys that doesn’t like hitting lipo cut off?
Yep I'm one of those guys. I've had better success not going lower than 3.6 per cell (long term battery life )
Do you need to use spektrum smart batteries for battery telemetry to work? Specifically I’m just interested in total pack voltage?
Yes, anything dealing with voltage you must use spectrum battery's. You'll get rpm and other odd & end readouts with a regular lipo pack.
I can see pack voltage by going under Smart ESC under telemetry and setting voltage and tone. Nothing else needed to use this on the Rugged.
Post Link to purchase that low battery alarm module...

So can I bind my DX3 transmitter from my ARRMA Vortek 3s BLX to this Proboat Sonicwake V2?
As long as the reciever is a Sr315, sr215, srt515, or sr6110at
Awesome! Do you have the procedure for this?
Also, do you mean the receiver on the sonicwake v2?
What screen shows the speed? Or do I need to get the dx5 pro for that?
You'll need to use spektrum lipos and firma speed controls to get speed. You'll need to program the roll out in the dx5 to get a round about speed reading. IMO I'd go with the pro for speed read outs.
Yo man did it work Out of the Box or did u have to update the Rugged? i dont see Battery Status even tough g2 and everything
It worked out the box for me no issues

@nikheigl8 that's correct. Gotta have a fancier one.
Can I get that remote and it’ll give me all the telemetry with my blackjack 42 also?
Yes sirit will work for both boats with the spektrum firma and spektrum smart batterys
man that does everything but dry your hair eh.
