- Steve, KL3EZ, has been trying to understand resonance better to help teach some new techicians but he is also having some trouble understanding the full concept.

Dave - Your ability to explain electorics principles is second to none! I also love how you appreciate the wonders of our natural world.
A nice refresher. This video really "resonates" with me.
When my Father worked for Lockheed (radar engineer) he used tuning forks quite extensively for circuit tuning and had quite a collection of them.
I have just been fitted with a pacemaker and I have been informed that I must not get within 9ft of an armature transceiver!!! I have tried contacting the makers of the pacemaker with no luck at all. I have spoken to the surgical team that fitted the pacemaker and they didn't know ether. I just haven't any luck finding out at all. 73 Dave Morgan MW0MDV
Brilliant summary. Thank you.
This was a great video more info than I was able to own in one viewing. I will watch this video several time will I get comfortable in the knowledge. Thank you.
Dave, that was an excellent and very interesting discussion of resonance, especially your pointing out the theoretical as well as practical existence of "negative frequency."
Ok so Dave... Is Radiation Resistance of an antenna ALSO for just ONE FREQUENCY? I suspect it varies as you get further away from the Natural Frequency of Resonance? Yes?? Art W1SWL
Good One, Dave.
awesome
I love your works. But I had to chuckle when you used the phrase "simple math". Algebra has always seemed to be more abra cadabra, presto changeo to me than anything else.
The online falstad circuit simulator can show what is happening electrically for those curious, the RLC circuit is the default circuit the page loads.
You explained why the tuning fork is resonant... spring [capacitance] and mass [inductance.] You did not explain why the circuit is resonant. Is it because of the charging/discharging of the capacitor [spring] and the building/collapse of the magnetic field in the inductor [mass] that causes the resonance?
Have a look on Wikipedia at The Thing (listening device)
Hmm..., not finding it.
Tuning fork was uncooperative 🤛🏼
Good video. But for those of us that can't handle the math, skip ahead to 16:38.
To much tuning fork
math was not your best subject
Why do you say that? He's got a degree in Mathematics.
Thank you. N0QFT
At 73 years old I find that my natural frequency is getting slower as the years go by. I have a tuning fork and when I hit it on top of my head I get cross eyed. Sorry I am in a mood. de WB7ORB
